this is a terribly managed company and it's been awful working here. It's probably good if you're working in the office cause it's super fancy and nice there but that energy is not put into frontline workers or clients at all. It pays terribly even though it's a for profit organization and most of the managers own shares in it and profit from it. the supervisors gatekeep information from the frontline workers and we have no idea what's going on and have no input in client planning, whenever I talk with the caseworkers I have to tell them I don't know to all of their questions because the supervisors don't include us in any meetings or emails, and when we do try and share our input it is brushed off and never resolved. Supervisors are also never in program and can rarely help you with anything. On call doesn't answer half the time and each person tells you something different. There is no organization or cohesiveness and they are very unprofessional at times and often cause escalations with the clients. They don't pay overtime which I don't understand how they get away with and you don't have guaranteed hours because they cancel your shifts or move you to different programs you are not meant to be working at. There's four sick days only per year and no banked vacation pay. They also require you to use your own vehicle while on shift which has sucked because we do a lot of driving and I've put so many miles on my vehicle while working with them and they expect you to sit in your car outside where the client is in all weather for hours sometimes. Also because of this, times when my car was inoperable I wasn't able to work even though I could have used public transport to get there. Also the single client structure they have in all their homes does not work well because the kids get lonely and bored and act out more because of it, plus they take any changes in programming super personally which also leads to escalations. Also the company is so desperate to keep their contracts that they will never discharge a client because then the program would be empty so the clients can do whatever and the company will reward them with mcdonald's. You will constantly be asked to do things outside of your job title and pay. Also I've worked for a lot of different group care companies and I've never worked somewhere that requires so little trainings and recertifications which is kinda scary. However they will make you covid tests 3 times a week, which health care workers don't even do, and they will call you off shift to bother you about not doing it if you happen to get too busy with managing a client crisis to complete it.

Management
Management communication is often perceived as threatening rather than supportive. Supervisory practices may feel focused on monitoring or “catching” staff rather than coaching and problem-solving, which can undermine trust.

The hardest part of the job
The hardest aspects include managing high-risk situations with limited staffing, emotional fatigue, pressure related to transportation expectations, and working in a high-risk environment with relatively low compensation.

The most enjoyable part of the job
The most rewarding part of the role is working directly with children and youth, building relationships, and making a positive impact during critical moments.

Staff are not treated fairly by management. When you bring up a concern especially a safety concern, you are shut down and treated poorly. Staff talk behind backs especially when you do your job properly. A few staff are amazing but this company can not keep the staff that are there to make a difference, not to make a pay check. When you talk with senior management, they act like they care but they truly don’t. I would not suggest this company at all, because even if you work Night Shift, they call you throughout the day, preventing you from getting sleep to be able to be rested to for your shift. Clients are high risk and will attack staff and even when you do what you are trained to do (TCI) management does not support you and will punish you but will reward the kids for hitting, screaming and abusing staff. And the lack of support when you are sick is disgusting.  You receive no support for sick time or personal time. The workplace culture is highly negative and the hardest part of the job, is being understaffed and bot supported. There is no enjoyable part of the job. When you require going to the hospital because a client has attacked you, or you were injured doing your job, you are required to seek medical attention on your own time and not paid. Supervisors do not support their staff and barely come around the homes and and they will never answer their phones, but have absolutely no issues calling you on your personal time with no compensation. 

Everyday we stress wether we will continue to have a job or get fired. Youth will attack, manipulate and do anything they can do to get rid of any staff that does not give them anything that they want. Management will make their floor workers look like bad employees in order to keep their money and to look good for higher ups even when its emoloyees who are bonding and dealing with the day to day stress. Half of management doesnt have floor experience but will come in and tell you everything that you are doing wrong. No one will answer when you call for support or time off but will text/call 10-15 times a day. You are expected to show up unpaid even if its your days off (staff meeting) and they will threaten you with the "its mandatory" mindset. They will offer "incentives" for working 16 hour shifts and make it sound good which is 5$ extra an hour (doesnt even compare to what you would make if you got overtime) they do not pay overtime for anything; half the time you need to fight with payroll to even get the incentives offered to you because they wont pay it if you dont pay attention to your paystub. For your peace of mind please take all reviews into account, this is not a good company to work for. 

CarePros is a new and developing company still building their group home programs. So much still left to do, such as build policies and have them on hand. The supervisor passes that responsibility back to the frontline staff. The day can be and emotionally draining working with extremely aggressively youths, but its rewarding knowing you can have a potentially positive influence on them. Working here requires patients and passion to serve the needs of youths. You will be challenged as far as your skills set and experience go; your contribution will not go unnoticed. Dont hasitate tontake charge, give fees back and ideasnwith humility and confidence. As long you love what you are doing and know exactly what is you want, this place will teach you alot. Great atmosphere for students to start a career in caregiver. Over all, the homes are buitiful and they are continuously being improved, you will work in a warm and comfortable home. The management will go out of their way to make you feel that you are supported and are available as far as a phone call away.

This company pays you slightly better than your average fast food worker, but expects you to have the qualifications of a professional, and when they can't fill all their roles they will "support you" by filling them with people with minimal to no experience in the industry and a lack of competitive education, or unqualified, useless temp workers who are more of a hinderance than a help (and paid 150% more than you). Or, they bring in out of town support who are paid a bonus for the work, put up in a hotel, and given a living stipend. All in the name of not paying local, qualified workers what they're worth, I guess?

The level of support is laughable, and with a 6 on, 3 off rotation in such a high stress job, you burn out quickly; but of course you have no ability to take a vacation, because you can barely pay your bills month to month.

A typical day at CarePros is fast-paced and requires consistent professionalism—supporting youth with daily routines, appointments, community access, emotional regulation, and documentation. I have learned advanced skills in trauma-informed care, crisis prevention and de-escalation, risk assessment, communication, and maintaining boundaries while staying compassionate. Management is supportive and responsive when staff communicate clearly, and the role encourages accountability and leadership development. Workplace culture is client-centered and team-based, with staff often working collaboratively under pressure. The hardest part of the job is managing high-risk situations and the emotional weight of supporting complex needs. The most enjoyable part is seeing youth progress, build trust, and reach milestones through consistent care and structure.

The 2 week training was good and I was looking forward to a place that valued consistently.  I was a casual employee who regularly put her availability in but then I was consistently receiving calls, texts and emails requesting me to work outside my availability which was disruptive to my home life.  At work the staff are treated horribly by the clients, when looking for support from upper management we are spoken down to, repeatedly asked what strategies we used without there being any kind of constructive consequences for the client.  I worry for society when these kids are 18, and out on their own because they're not being taught mutual respect, only that they can do whatever they want to the staff/other people with no regard for anyone else's feelings. 

This company cares more about expanding business and revenue than the people that work here. Staff is overworked and underpaid. They promise opportunity for growth, but it's a lie if only to make you work harder. There is a lack of support and guidance provided for employees to do their job well, however, they are still expected to go above and beyond. They would rather fire qualified employees than improve their working environment. The culture is toxic and will burn you out. Leadership cares more about getting awards and looking good themselves than treating employees right and taking accountability.

The Support from staff is great! Everyone truly cares about the youth in their care.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with at risk youth is always stressful because of their unpredictably.  The great thing that offsets the stress is knowing that they can change their behaviours and make good decisions.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is great! The houses are kept very clean and and are spacious.
