Cedar Crest Lands

I worked Gardening, our average day would be about 9 1/2 hours of picking weeds and grass out of park flower beds. Now the work isn't bad and the crew leads I worked with are great. The only issue there is, is that you have to work monday to saturday getting about 50+ hours a week. If you miss two days without a sufficient reason you will be fired. The management doesn't talk to anyone. Everyone seems to not know a thing until it's important for there job at that exact moment. The number of days that we didn't know where we were going until 10 minutes before we left I dare not count. Now for the really bad part, unfortunately it appears that a good number of the crew leads are racist and the company foreman seems to be no exception. The upper management is toxic to those they don't like. Speaking down on them and blaming them mistakes and broke equipment. If you need a job it's not a bad place and the pay is okay, however if you're just looking for something different don't work here.

This is a great company for a young person to start their career at. The company is a family business and you can tell.  The management and office staff are supportive, the field staff are all professional and treat everyone with respect. If you are a hard worker and show initiative CCLL are more than willing to train you and move you up through the ranks.
My only criticism is the renumeration is on the low side for the more skilled employees.
But if you want a positive work environment with other employees who are happy with their jobs this company may be for you.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great management, good hours, and they actually care about their staff. Project managers are great, I'd recommend cedarcrest anyday.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes they run on a tight schedule, need to pick up the pace.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7am to 5 PM.  Half hour for lunch and 2 15 min breaks during the day.

Typical work day
Depending on site location everything from raking to using a metal saw to cut picnic tables. I have learnt many things from tree planting to ground prep to demolition and restoration. Management was fine usually left alone to do my jobs report to the foreman if there were concerns and/or questions. Hardest part of work was making sure everything was completed to my standard and if not completing what was necessary. Most enjoyable was working outside.

I would recommend that you try at least 1 season

Having to redo everything in such a sort time

Certain people are vary helpful

Enjoyed working there for the most part. 2 of the foremen were very nice and most of the lead hands and other drivers were pretty decent too. Some newer trucks and a couple older ones but slowly getting replaced and there's no problem getting them repaired.

Landscaping is a labor intensive job depending on the role. At Cedar crest, the workers created a fun environment and the awesome weather is a bonus. Great summer job however one must seek opportunities for the winter as it is seasonal. 

I enjoyed my job at cedar crest. Unfortunately a couple foreman are very disrespectful when telling you how to do your job. Pay wasn’t great, co workers were awesome. Mon-Fri type schedule. 
Only seasonal work Apt-Oct. 


Supervision and management was very good at planning the job.  Very approachable.  Most foreman/lead hands were terrible at their jobs.  Stubborn, lazy, drug users.

Lots of manual labor.  Rain or shine, there is work.

My tasks were simple ….. make stuff really wet and get out of way fast
