As a currently employee of the company I must say I completely fell in love with this work environment , it was perfect for me. It is a very fast paced, high stress job, there are long hours and work almost every day. Tons of chance to move up and learn new things as long as you are showing initiative and doing everything you can to the best of your ability as well as wanting to learn. The management is great, we’ve had really long days where we work later than expected and the bosses will get dinner for the crew as a thank you for the hard work. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The entire company is well operated  and the Base Crew were all supportive  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Operating heavy equipment  but not after I  learned the machines

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great!!!

Everyone gets the work done as we were a team. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours and through all different weather in a normal day.

Always changing, last minute notification. Enjoyed working outside everyday, and the work crews were great to work with. Its seasonal work. Got the opportunity to learn how to run the skid steer and the roller. Learnt how to gravel check the trucks. Had the experience of working away for three weeks in Drayton Valley.

A typical day here would start at 5-6 am and end maybe 8 or 9 pm, standing outside for minimum 13 hours, on a good day 16 hours. through rain, sun, wind and snow. you don't usually get breaks and it can be very busy and stressful at times. you don't get to socialize much or even see your coworkers sometimes. the hardest part of the job was no breaks, most enjoyable part was working outdoors. management wasn't very good.

When I was chipping on the road crew we backed into a hitch on the machine that way there no chance of having messes on the road..I had never hauled to a transfer before and it was was very tricky unloading down hill. The job was great keep your box clean and god forbid if your rig gets away from the transfer that part was very stressful but you learned to get it done.

They are a great place to work if your just starting out and if you’ve worked in cons before. I started as a flagger worked my way up to an equipment operator made some fantastic friends there some enemy but that’s with every job. Overall there a great company to work for I loved working for them 

As long as you are willing to work hard and can retain information then the typical day of work is usually enjoyable. Good management, helpful foreman's and like minded hard workers make it an enjoyable environment. Working long days away from home is made easy when the boss's care about their employees, which they do.

hard job long hours often stuck in hotels for months and they often wouldnt pay for kitchen suties so food was sometimes and issue and instead of food allowance daily would be added to pay every 2 weeks and very picky on not paying proper travel time other wise not a bad job met new people and seen new places but its seasonal so minimal job sucurity

I work 8am to 5pm with an hour for Lunch which breaks up the day nicely.
They have given me a chance to get back into the office environment after moving to Canada from overseas.
I feel like I belonged very quickly after joining the administration team.

CCAL is a family made company and with that, the amount of nepotism seen here is off the charts. If you don't have a family member or good friend in upper management, good luck trying to move up in the company at all. They treat their workers like horses; when you can't take it anymore, they find someone new to replace you. No love lost.
