A typical day would be clock in 30min early and go over a shift review with previous team (pass ons). Then start day doing security stuff and then clock out at end of (12hr) shift. 

What I learned in a day varied but there was always something new to learn either by coworkers or patrons. Never really a dull moment. 

Management including supervisors are very observant when they do their training and make sure the team has all the tools to be successful (checklist). There are some things you can’t learn from the checklist but those will come with hands on learning with the job. 

Workplace culture is a lot of fun! Everyone talks to everybody and there are so many different personality types you will meet along the way (majority of people are very pleasant). 

The hardest part for me was working full time night shifts. Once you’re in the night rotation you can’t get out to days unless an opening comes up which is very rare. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting a lot of people and being apart of all the live events that happen (thoroughbred racing, chuck wagons, chihuahua races and many more fun events…). A lot of fun to watch. 

Very disorganized Management, supervisor is no better,  lying is a common occurrence used as a road block to avoid dealing with situations.  Do not recommend getting involved. Scheduling of your hours is out to lunch and no time or consideration is taken in scheduling the staff.  Staff is put into situations that could've easily been avoided.  Atmosphere is horrendous to work in when you are treated like you don't matter and you do not matter when you have to be lied to in order to justify the stupidity excuses used to shut you down.  Friction in between departments makes things even more unpleasant for the working staff because above all if you are a manager no matter what you will be defended, commended and appeased at the expense of the lower staff.

Management at Century Downs Casino and Racetrack are unprofessional, irresponsible, and lazy. They do not take accountability or make others take accountability for their actions. They will abuse staff that do their job and make excuses for the ones who don't. They will also make you wok 6 days a week without your consent and over eight hours certain days without consent as well.
Most of the staff are polite, but will talk about you behind your back. There are many staff members who are just their for the pay check are not willing to do their jobs. 
Don't expect to see the general manager of the casino, if you do, don't expect him to say hello, or even acknowledge your existence. 
Wouldn't work their again unless it was the last option.

After only working 12 days (part time) upon hiring, I was let go due to an injury which they concealed as "not the right fit" for government termination policies. 
Management / team members are Unwilling to be patient to give people time to learn and get used to the physical activity it requires. 
Everyone will have something negative to say and question you about every little detail down to which bathroom specifically you use in the building while on a break. 
Very welcoming at the beginning, but after a week, everyone becomes rude and condescending . 

Tips are barely even worth the time either. 
I Don't recommend and you shouldn't bother applying if you want to be fired over something you have no control over and have them withhold tips upon termination. 

The night shift is a 4-12:30 job and it is the worst hours.  All you do after the first rush is clean up the morning shifts mess and if you complain about it they will start targeting you for more bad jobs or try to get you out. They believe they are right at all times and think that whatever anybody says is wrong.   Managers appear to be nice and helpful but they are the complete opposite. It did help me with problem solving and multitasking but it wasn’t worth the toll on my mental health. You don’t get weekends off and with the terrible shift you won’t see friends often and will lead down a bad path

This is a really fun, fast paced place to work. Racing season is busy and attracts a lot of new people to the track. We have a lot of different events here throughout the year which keeps things interesting and fresh. There is never a dull moment and the days seem to fly by!  Due to the friendly and supportive team structure, different departments work well with each other in order to make sure guests are taken care of.  Hard work pays off for those that want to put in the time and effort, and recognition and credit is given when it is due.  As such, there are multiple employee rewards and staff events held every year.

I can't emphasize enough how great all the staff are. Everyone is welcoming, fun and energized. 

I personally love the schedule. Shift work, 12 hours, rotate between days and nights - it gives you lots of time off, many guards get second jobs to fill up their free time. That being said, 12 hours standing can be hard on the feet/back and nights shifts aren't for everybody.

There are opportunities to move around and up. In my few years of working here, I've had a couple promotions and pay raises. Management is always supporting my growth as an individual and as an employee.

All staff are wonderful people, howeverb communication is lacking and upper management seemsto make unrealistic choices that ultimately effect the lives of the workers.

Loved almost everything about this place, minus 2 or 3 bad people/influences.

Human Resources are supportive and were always there when I needed them.

 I just believe the person who managed Guest Services was the wrong person. They are better off doing what every casino does, and give it to the slot department. That would make the customer service department so much better.

Most of the staff are awesome to work with, but some of the supervisors enjoy setting you up to fail. And HR does not help you at all. They do work around other schedules you have which is good but when they have you there it’s normally short staffed and your over worked. And they definitely don’t appreciate you.
