The company sells a very expensive product in a oversaturated market, where the Competitions product is cheaper, but not as good. So cheaper wins 90% of the time. The 10% who want quality product is your one and only market. This market in my area is very small and low volume. If a customer stocks up on their products, I cannot expect to see them for a year or two. Management is clueless to market conditions and expectations are hilariously out of whack. They claim they did a market study in my location. I asked to see it during my employment and kept getting the runaround. So I’m guessing no market study was conducted. Also inside sales reps would operate in my area. So any potential sales are taken by them. They expected you to get 20 customers a month. These customers do not exist in such a small market, but they did not accept that. Customers would say they like the product, but are unable to buy it due to warranty issues, when I brought this to the attention of management, they were lost for words and just read from a script. It was funny to see them scramble to make up new excuses for every inevitable rejection. When management travelled to my region for training they were rejected by nearly every potential and existing customer. Solely because of price and market saturation. Still expectations did not change. They believe every market is the same across the country.

Not a bad job if you like all walks of people and cold calling in person. A typical day is walking into random places seeing if they want to buy lubricants (grease and oil). Its an expensive grease, so selling on price doesn't work, you have to sell on value which is a little more difficult. Besides cold calling, you visit your customers and build relationships - probably my favourite part of the job. Alternatively, you do a LOT of driving - and I mean a lot - and they don't compensate you for gas or mileage. You use your own car too. Depending on where you are, winter roads can be brutal. The management however, is very supportive. I've never received this much training at a sales job before and they were always there to talk to. Still, you work by yourself all day, so its not much of a culture - the culture is what relationship you have with your manager. The hardest part of the job is the cold calling - getting told to f**k off all day drags on you. Also, only so many places use oil and grease, so you travel further and further to find places to cold call if you're not in a big city. If you're hurting for work, I'd recommend it but otherwise, if you're not into cold calling, I'd avoid.

That said it takes the right person to make this work, the hardest part is the beginning.  However they have great training and support, as well as a proven process.  If you’re willing to work hard, listen and follow their plan you can’t fail and will be successful.

What I was told in my interview regarding work/life balance, income and growth have continued to happen as I progress throughout my career.  It hasn’t been given to me overnight but it is evident that hard work pays off here.

I have been with Certified Labs for a few months. The company has a great training program and compensation in line with performance, which is rare these days. Manager is optimistic & available for support. The role feels a bit like running your own business.

-mgmt lies
-they cheat and use you as much as they can till you question it.
-the mgmt will do anything to use you and convince you are important.
-stay far away from mgmt as possible.
-you have been forewarned.

Good exposure to a lot of business challenges and problems, however, after a short time burnout happens. Leadership is almost non-existent and communication is not great. 

It was a fun company to work for, Meeting customers every day was the highlight, unfortunately the salary was structured in a way that was very confusing.

Management will steal customers, commissions and credit. I was number 3 in the whole nch and the reasons for why my money wasn't right just kept coming. Definitely not to be trusted.

Worked for Certified Labs for almost 5 years now and have been given guidance and support since day 1.  Could be more grateful for the opportunities this company has given me.
