During my time at this organization, it became increasingly clear that the workplace suffers from serious structural and leadership issues that make it an unsustainable and frustrating place to work.

Staff are often expected to take on excessive workloads with little to no meaningful support. Despite repeated efforts to raise concerns and seek guidance, management remains unresponsive, and the organizational structure does not allow employees to do their jobs effectively or with integrity. The lack of clear direction and adequate staffing consistently undermines the quality of the work being done.

The company also lacks accountability and professional development opportunities, and constructive feedback is often ignored or met with resistance. Employees are often left to manage complex responsibilities without the resources or support they need, which contributes to high levels of burnout and turnover.

I would not recommend this workplace to others unless significant improvements are made in leadership, staff support, and internal systems. Until then, this environment is simply not conducive to long-term professional growth or well-being.

Took over one month to hear back after applying. And another month after the interview to be offered a position. Even though no one else was being interviewed. The whole company works under micromanagement. Management does not  trust any employee to do their job. One of those places where you can only move up from a front line position by waiting for long term employees to quit or retire. And those in supervision and management are "lifers" (who have no experience working elsewhere) who have sucked up and don't have their positions reviewed regardless of complaints of unethical conduct, lack of knowledge and skill for the position, and complete unprofessionalism. Expect to be paid a salary that will not change ever unless you happen to snag a spot in management. Benefits are not great. The jobs and clients are decent, but you'd need the respect from the company to actually do your job properly. Does not respect proper work/life balance. Incredibly stressful due to management overall.

Working at Chimo has given me an opportunity to work with an amazing team of people who really show how much they care for not only the youth in care, but for the staff as well. All of the staff have proven to have each other's backs and show their support in a multitude of ways. 
The youth are laid back and easy to work with for the most part. It's fun getting to know them and finding things to do that match their interests. The hardest part of working is when there is not much to do or when the kids are not very social; it can make for long shifts when the youth will not engage with you.

In my experience, while the work itself could be meaningful, the overall work environment was very difficult to sustain long term. I experienced inconsistent leadership, unclear communication, and heavy workload demands that made it hard to feel supported in the role. Turnover felt high, and morale often felt low. Although supporting youth could be rewarding, the organizational environment made it challenging to stay and succeed.

No overtime however expected to work overtime hours and call it “Flex Time” so they do not have to pay you out as it is a salary contract “some evenings and some weekends” is not accurate you will most likely be working all evenings and weekends high turn over rate.

Overall the company is short staff and stretched thin they have potential to be a great company however you will experience burn out right away because the lack of overall staff this job is not for family oriented individuals unless you are hired on as a supervisor 

Great place to work with youth and families that are at risk and involved with the community. Great programs and opportunities for training and development. 
However; the supervision and leadership team can be hit or miss with support and direction if you are struggling. Highly recommend getting to know your team and supervisor well, and having strong supports outside of work.

- Work rotations at the group home are not sustainable to meet caseload needs 
- salaries are not met with same work expectations. 
- The organization would rather pocket money into management salaries than to support their frontline staff. 
- Little to no support from program managers or directors. 
- Workplace is toxic and lacks resources to help do your job to the best of your ability. 
- not enough staff to meet the needs of the youth and there is nobody to help.

They were all so friendly! Everyone worked together and the management was amazing

Working with families is hard in general. The role itself came with stresses

Work from home, manage your own time and lots of staff support where needed

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Calls, emails, home visits and advocacy

Working closely with at risk youth, addessing daily issues as well as more significant challenges that arise.
A field for younger people: many young energetic and fun new staff coming in.
The hardest part of the job is having to make decisions that aren't always popular.
The best part of the job is getting a client to understand the reasons for a decision and see the benefit to them in the long run.

CHIMO was a great place to work. I looked forward to going to work every shift. It was like a cozy home for the youth in transition to independent living. I learned a lot about how to best support youth in their every day living. The hardest part about the job was when youth would have a set back, and all I could do was listen and support them in their next steps. I couldn't do it for them.
