The only positive thing I have to say about this company is that the training program was actually very good, and I learned a lot about operating a truck from an experienced operator. And some of the police work was quite interesting, from crazy crashes to vehicle seizures that was about the only good part of the job that provided any sort of satisfaction, and it was definitely moral more than financial.

From there it’s pretty much downhill. Trucks extremely aged and are constantly broken, there is a revolving door of mechanics, dispatchers, and operators. Unless you’re one of the supervisors or are a specialty operator, youre completely unimportant and you’re definitely treated as such. Management will routinely ask you to drive vehicles that are not fit for road use, knowing full well that driving them could result in you getting fines if you’re caught, because it’s not their license on the line. They claim that they will pay you for downtime and compensate you. If your truck goes down for your lost wages. That is most definitely a lie, and a blatant one at that. If they have an opportunity to throw you under the bus to save their own skin or make money, they will make sure to, and then have the audacity to tell you it’s your fault. They pass the buck like it’s the greatest game of hot potato, and you can never get a solid answer or solution out of anybody., you’re also punished when you come up with your own solutions and fix your own problems because it’s “not policy”. 

In my entire time there, I’ve never met a company, so poorly organized with such a clueless leadership team. Do not apply to this job. 

You work commission so if there's no work some days are a write off. New partners of upper management has turned for the worst. They don't believe in new rigging or practices for recovery work (over used, stretched, worn out, shock loaded etc)  Always pinning the blame on someone else. Expected to clean and do minor repairs but no pay for doing so. Poorly maintained equipment due to overworked unqualified staff. Good operators but extremely sensitive and whinny. Don't go over their level of service or you will be penalized. Good enough seems to be their MO. Following their procedures out weigh personal safety. Always on call, long hours. I definitely wouldn't put them near the top of industry standards for an industry that is already far behind the norm.

I worked at CWT for over 10 years. During that time the company was bought out by an investment company.  Under the investment company it has drastically changed, and not for the better.  When it was first bought out, they came in with big ideas for growth, wanting to take what made CWT so successful and replicate it on a federal level. Instead, they have destroyed the culture, reduced staffing so fewer people are doing more work, they handcuff staff, especially management and they are running subpar, sometimes even dangerous, old equipment. Internal staff are miserable and encouraged to in fight with one another, operators have no work life balance and are often just another body. It is not the company it once was. 

When I worked here they had a bad habit of playing favorites. I watched a few drivers pocket money and not invoicing. I watched Drivers do favors for friends and getting paid for it. I watched drivers avoiding lousy caa jobs for bigger ticket tows. Personally I didn't mind doing the tire changes and boosts as they added up up quite quickly. The back stabbing is horrendous with drivers being impaired while working despite the "random" drug and alcohol testing. There is opportunity to make good money as I did. I worked for 18 days with 4 off and pulled in 3.6k clear. That was @ 34% commission at the time.
But beware, do not befriend anybody and make sure you bribe dispatch with breakfasts and such otherwise you'll have a long knife sticking in your back.

If you like an organized management that does not communicate this is the place for you. Instead of firing people that mess up they transfer them to different departments and pass the hot potato they fail to deal with internal problems. The workplace is more like a high school smoke pit full of gossip and internal clicks. Once you have clicks in the workplace you no longer work on a team. Upper management can be abusive well asking for impossible deadlines. This is a horrible place to work and will affect your mental health in a negative way. This office is full of two-faced vile people and it’s always politics and drama. 

If you like working in the worst weather conditions on the side of the highway for minimum wage, then this is the job for you. Dispatch is a revolving door of new people, so mistakes are common. Management doesn't seem to care about employee retention and there is a revolving door of new drivers as well. They pay commission and a lot of hours are spent sitting, earning no money. Icould

They have plenty of work, and the group of guys there couldn’t be better. My  problem is the fact that you are not compensated for being on call and the amount of hours you work, It’s commission so as others have said some days are great and others are a write off. Management is some of the worst I’ve worked for, if it wasn’t for the fellow drivers and dispatchers it wouldn’t have lasted long.

I was at City Wide for almost 10 years . Enjoy owners but management I didn't really care for . For my job the couldn't replace me as each person to try my job had a really hard time , so i felt this was holding me back as no advancement with in the company . Lots favoritism with certain co workers and management. I really enjoyed the customers I built a many great business relationship . I guess the hardest part of the job was rules changing day by day . To many politics in the office .

I worked at CWT for many years, under many different managers. Current management is doing all they can within the limitations of the investment company but overall they are supportive and do their best. 
Operators can make good money if they want to work hard, but it is a difficult work/life balance. You need to be single or have a supportive spouse.
Dispatch is mostly underpaid, but a good place to start in the industry. 

Upper management does not care for your opinion. Human resources is NOT on your side. Pay is poor at best. Poor air filtration so you are constantly sick. Management is not good. No input by employees so work is overloaded and under paid. Best to look elsewhere. Save yourself headaches. Really negative atmosphere. Angry people doing a job they hate for pay they reap.
