What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day as an Hr co- op is characterized by a diverse range of tasks aimed at supporting the smooth functioning of the office. Mornings often start with email and phone correspondence, followed by scheduling meetings and managing calendars. Throughout the day, administrative assistants handle various administrative tasks, such as data entry, document preparation, and maintaining office supplies. A key aspect of the role involves adaptability and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently to meet the ever-changing demands of the office environment. At the end of the day, administrative assistants ensure that all tasks are completed, the workspace is organized, and they prepare for the following day's responsibilities.

Even though I found that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience during my time at this camp, it was difficult to enjoy it during the end of the summer as I have many dear friends who also work for the City and they had difficulties when it came time for time management on the City's part. Although I am aware this was not MY experience, a friend of mine had to quit because they did not have enough time to focus on their own mental health, and when they needed to, the camp would not grant them time away when they had signed a contract for a certain amount of time. Their only choice was to quit. During the end of my time with them, I was granted a week off, which I decided to use during the last week of camp so I could have two weeks off, as the last week of summer was an optional working time, and I had opted out of it since I was moving away for school at the beginning of that week. After informing my boss that I would be unable to make it for the very last week, I received an angry call wondering why I was not there. I informed him that I had asked for the time off, and when he checked "again" he realized he was wrong and apologized. Their organization is less-than acceptable, and I do not plan on returning for fear of a decrease in their organization skills.

Arrive to the rink and start working on our pre-game checklist. Check the arena stands for garbage or defects, make sure the level of cleanliness in the washrooms are at an appropriate standard, check all garbage around the rink and remove any that were full and exchange with a new bag. Sweep the floors after every intermission and after the game. The management I have worked under has definitely set the bar for it's employees. Very approachable and will not hesitate to clarify any directions they've given us. After working there for 10 years I think the hardest part of the job was finding new things to learn. My most enjoyable part of the job were working in that kind of hockey environment where not only did i see hockey at a higher level, but also saw the operation side of things at an bigger scale venue.

Worked here for a while in the Road Operations Department, if you are a Technologist BEWARE, management is a "joke", favoritism, insecurity, tons of work and more and more, because nobody wants to take responsibility for nothing. Big time "Gravy Train" with a large amount of the budget going to the drain in very stupid un-necessary expenses. You will not see a raise because the Union is "fixed", the place is dirty and old, all the technology is very old and your office will be a table in a hallway "Literally". Stay away from here, a very poor city, rent is expensive and the roads are a disaster. Many "under the Table deals" with big budgets cuts for Road Painting, as a matter of fact, the contracts are fixed between friends. Very toxic environment. Stay away from this.

I very much enjoyed my employment at the City of Barrie. My typical day included Agenda  preparation, minute taking, acting as commissioner of Oaths, supervising 13 Committees and 8 employees, preparing and giving performance reviews, supporting members of Council, supervising, Council Secretariat and Print and Mail Room. 

I worked extended hours on a regular basis and attended after hour meetings. 

The amount of knowledge I learned through my position is insurmountable. Learning was the favourite component of my position. I enjoyed research and assisting other staff and members of the public.

A typical day including preparing lesson plans, teaching and being in the pool for up to three hours at a time and if the shift including guarding then we would watch over an area of the pool in 20 minute rotations. In the off-rotation time we would have to clean up around the pool deck. I learned how to function in high-stress situations and how to deal with patrons in any mood. I also learned how to be professional with my boss. My co-workers were extremely fun and helpful in any situation. The hardest part of the job was guarding the pools when they were very crowded. The most enjoyable part of the job was helping children succeed and watching them enjoy themselves in the water.

A typical day at work included lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons, and occasionally performing first-aid. I Learned about customer service and first aid in this job. Management had some issues. Some supervisors overlooked un-tasteful behavior from employees that were their friends and not every employee in the same position was treated equally. The passive aggressive behavior and remarks made towards certain employees that were not as social or outgoing felt like a stereotypical high school movie. The hardest part of the job was the stress that came from difficult co-workers and management. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with customers.

The City of Barrie Horiculture department gives you a ton of experience and knowledge in turf related areas. Throughout my 3 seasons, I assisted in greenhouse operations, and plant propagation. I gained knowledge in irrigation systems including fixing leaks and testing of the system in the spring. I helped design and install floral displays, as well as the maintenance of floral beds including weeding, mulching, pruning, fertilizing and watering. 

This is a great place to gain valuable knowledge and experience with minimal to no experience. The management and workplace culture was great, and every day was fun.

There is not one thing I can think of .

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to clean human feces urine as well as vomit every weekend 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unfortunately there really isn't a culture and half of the environment is and will always be sick and very disturbing. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Painfully disturbing and it makes me sick to my stomach

I can’t remember. It was a lifetime ago 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
HR writes its own rules. The labour and OHSA laws are bent and broken daily

Fun and exciting followed by months of severe boredom

There wasn’t one pretty much ever. It was changing daily as were my feelings about my job satisfaction
