Clark Freightways

I worked at Clark Freightways and, unfortunately, my experience was not great. While my co-workers were great and the company does put effort into safety, the overall work environment was incredibly toxic. Management is highly emotional, resistant to feedback, and often micromanages staff to the point of exhaustion. There’s a clear sense of favoritism, and those who challenge the status quo or offer new ideas are either ignored or pushed out.

Communication is poor, morale is consistently low, and many departments are chronically understaffed, which leads to burnout. Despite fair compensation, the mental toll simply isn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this workplace unless significant changes are made at the leadership level.

Dirty management and HR. Also a very clicky place to work. Everyone is working in fear of losing their job on a daily basis due to the micromanagement and backwards thinking of the Owner and Management; no freedom in the workplace at all. A very dull place to be, with no fun whatsoever. I would compare this place of work to a boot camp in regards to the attitude of management and owner. 

Drivers are very hardworking and likeable, and generally, around half of the employees there are absolutely wonderful. Met some genuinely nice people. The other half of the workforce, need to realise there is more to life than Clark Freightways, and that the employment there is draconian. I would NOT recommend working here, on moral principles alone.

Wouldn’t recommend working here. Head office doesn’t care at all about employees, privacy or safe equipment. Make lots of promises and then deny, plan things and talk about you behind your back. Expect to work in dangerous conditions and keep your mouth shut or they’ll threaten your job. Go home late feeling used every day for a small paycheque and half benefits. 

For the last year and a half roughly, they have been restructuring and seemingly still have not found the dispatch structure they are looking for.  I was told I was brought in because I was willing and able to say no when required and then let go with no notice or explanation as apparently this was in the end not what they were looking for.

The vast majority of people were great and I will miss seeing them at the work place.
     The owner and management however  need to rethink the way they address employees . Not twisting words and flat out making things up would be a good start.  They thrive on intimidation to run operations but if you stand up for your self your labeled as rude aggressive or insubordinate.
     Oh yes , just remember at Clark the walls have ears !

Very poor management - I personally witnessed examples of micromanaging, talking down to employees for no good reason, unwillingness to make positive changes to disrupt the status quo and very poor communication.

Friendly and helpful co-workers make the best of a chaotic environment. Pay is decent but benefits are abysmal. Workload is structured fairly but they appear to pile things onto people until they crack.

Great management, care about the staff. Good wages and benefits

Winter driving mountains,  long hours

Excellent friendly, new equipment and mostly canadian born people

Go to work drive to wherever switch and drive back

people there were great until changes and putting inexperienced people in roles to save money .bullying of employees by management  is not condusive to a productive workplace,this is a customer service industry and they dont care about the customer pretty sad to see.they want people to work  in fear and nobody needs that. now you have people stabbing each other in the back to protect their job.so you cant trust anyone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very bad management, they lay everyone off 3 months after there hired

Watching half the warehouse get laid off

Good atmosphere while working good people other than management 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical warehouse work/driving forklifts

A typical day you would load you truck, forklift, then leave for first of usually two local loads. Lots of hand unloading required with some forklift deliveries. New local management. Well maintained equipment. Hardest part of job would be the sortation of inbound trailers. Most enjoyable part of job is the interaction with other employees
