Projects are interesting and helpful to the clients. Some of the people are competent in their technical fields, and good to work with. Best thing you can learn from this place is how you can apply a scientific approach to an engineering problem that involves scaling and developing new processes for chemical/mechanical engineering applications.

With that said, there is a toxic work environment in their office. There is favoritism with little room for growth in your career. Accountability is very low in the organization. With very poor exercise of management best practices and common sense, business execution is at low efficiency and employee-to-management communication lacks trust in both ways. On top of this, corporation charges their clients high fees for the research projects and I dont think they can be competitive outside their conventional practice areas, which is oil and gas sector. This brings you to a problem for job security given the recent changes to that sector and the need to diversify in our current world to fight the climate change.

In summary, I would work at Coanda for a short term to add to my problem solving skills in engineering applications, and learn the technology development phases. There is also technical growth you can have within your team members' collective wealth of knowledge. I dont think there is anything more to a new comer in that company. Furthermore, the experience of working there can quickly turn into something else for the above mentioned corporate culture. Perhaps, the potential for the technical growth is not even worth your time if you have a personality not suitable for such an environment.

A great place to work with lots of interesting projects, experimental apparatus and instrumentation.  The work is never dull, there is always something new and interesting to discover.  Fast paced work environment.

Management and senior SMEs are always happy to engage and mentor junior staff and are generally supportive.   The work environment is collegial and respectful.  People from all walks of life work here, physicists, engineers, technologists, technicians and administration.  I recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to constantly learn new things and challenge themselves.

In a nutshell, not a good place to work. You need to be a salesman to success and not a knowledgeable hardworking individual so go figure.
Extreme favoritism rooted in CEO's view of the employees is the name of the game. You either play his game or you fall into the unfavorite group ready to be disposed when things get hard.
If you look at their website and get excited about doing "science" and problem solving, do yourself a favor and stay away and put your energy in a company that appreciate your technical skills and not your acting/schmooze skills.


Terrible company culture that cultivates ego and fakery. Extreme favoritism is prevalent all across the board rooted in the leadership view. Despite the name that might sound scientific, the most important thing is sales and how much money you can generate. if you are a good salesman with mediocre scientific background, you will success much better than being an excellent scientist with less focus on sales and presentation. 

They do cutting edge research, it's a great place to develop your technical skills and not have all the bureaucracy of working at a university. You get to learn from amazingly smart and talented people. You get to work on a wide variety of projects so you will never get bored.

I can't say enough great things about this organization. They train you very well and ensure such confidence in there employees. They are motivated to build all employees to the best they can be. If I was in Vancouver again I would try my best to be apart of the team again no matter how long to waiting period would be. I loved working for them and side by side with them.

Pay was alright. The co-workers are awesome people and really work together. Management has no idea what they're doing. Next to no job security. A lot of workplace politics. Insane amount of miscommunication. No one talks to anyone (especially management) employees are super unhappy with them. No actual policies in place & constant moving of goal posts about "defined" policy.

The work is very productive and at the same time co-workers not only have great sense of humor but good work ethics as well. The most enjoyable part of the job is getting together with co-workers not only assisting them with their needs, but having fun at social functions.

The owners don't care about employees; the HR person is a con man. The owner of the company has spies through ou company and whatever you do, will be reported 

Coanda is a wonderful engineering research and development company, which allows me to explore new skills with each new project given.  I can plan and manage own activities to deliver on budget and schedule.
