Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel used to be a good company but the management has changed and not for the better. No free parking for their workers so please expect to pay between a monthly of $150-$300 a month. Day off request will need to be negotiated so much that even a bereavement day is denied. Schedule is all over the place. They release the next week schedule either Thursday or Friday so you can't even plan your days ahead. Loyalty is awarded with more work. Turnover rate is very high because of the lack of empathy and recognition towards their staff. Front desk technology is very old school. Keycards barely work properly, a lot of paper forms that needs to be tracked in 10 different excel sheets. Micromanaging is their specialty. If you would like to become a night auditor for this place, please do not consider it as their training for front desk specially for night audit is very poorly handled and always rushed. Most night auditors we had are not prepared to be by themselves after their training. Instead of the accounting helping them out, they would sent move passive aggressive emails instead of helping out the team. If you are in school or has a 2nd job, don't even tell management as they will question your loyalty and will slowly try to terminate you by giving you less shifts. Overall, please try a different hotel to work at. 

Dont trust them, one week before getting my 90 day probation period, they pulled me off the schedule   right during Christmas holiday, house keeping management has a smoking and gossip circle going and back stabbing other house keeping staff,  any manager who smokes with her employees is unprofessional, morning janitor is influencing her schedule and telling her boss how to do the schedule, she chooses who she wants to work with, day time janitor not doing her job  garbage are full all the time  toilets are not been washed , floors in public bathrooms are not been washed, dayshift has really low standards, funny thing is that all other departments know this is happening but still has a job, there's no spot checking or inspections,  sipervisors are lazy, its not even gender neutral   they weeded out all the men, just women , housekeeping is gender racist to men, they treat you good at first   but keeping pushing you back, upper management does nothing to help there employees,  there disrespectful,  I had a family emergency and they took me off the schedule and never put me back on, now I'm fighting to be called back to work   are you kidding me this how you treat people who are in a crisis,  un believable   this is the reason you can't find employee's,  in my 45 year work history I've never seen so much ignorance in my life   dont have a family emergency they'll turn there back on you!!!!!

As a former employee at Coast Hotel, my experience was far from positive. A typical day was stressful, with constant understaffing and unrealistic expectations. Management often seemed disconnected from the realities of the job, which created a lack of support and poor communication. While I did learn a lot about dealing with demanding guests, the workplace culture felt toxic, with little appreciation for hard work. The hardest part was managing high guest demands with limited resources. The most enjoyable part was the occasional positive interaction with guests, but unfortunately, that didn’t outweigh the daily struggles. Wouldn’t recommend working here.

I would work the evenings from 3-11 doing laundry and guest requests like towels or more coffee. My manager was very good giving constructive criticism as well as organized the schedule and  the work stations and sign in and out well! The hardest part of the job was sometimes (mostly weekends) there was so many guest requests that sometimes I had to leave 1 or 2 things on the to-do list. The most enjoyable part of the job was how independent I worked, I had a radio that my other co workers would have so we would be in constant communications with each other if needed which was comforting.

This is a very high quality hotel. My job at there was luggage handler. This job provide for the group travellers. When the travel group came, I help customers to take their luggage ito their rooms. I worked with two other people. The luggage  always arrived two hours before group, so we needed to use this two hours to put the luggage into customers' rooms. We used a cart to carry luggage. In this job, I learned how to put more luggage into the cart, and how to move fast. My co-workers and I usually finished early than we estimate, because we did it as a team, and we help each other in the work. Every time, when customers say thank you to me, I feel very happy.

Everyday understaffed, very poor management. Lots of favouritism. Union is there for nothing . Your shift will be as hard as can be, they will give days off, vacations and better shifts to favourites. When you get to your shift you will find you have to fight with other departments for the things you need to use to do your job. Most of the hotel does not speak English, so be prepared to be in second I. They will try to work with the less staff as possible, be prepared for a work overload.  Sometimes they just play blind whith your rights, like avoid paying overtime or avoid giving breaks, only good thing is benefits.

A typical day at work in the kitchen is smooth going and productive.
Leadership  is supportive and assists you in achieving success and they connect with workers daily. 
It's an environment that enhances your skills sets and everyone is continually learning. 
The hotel's culture is rooted in professionalism,happiness and respect, with every department working together seamlessly as a cohesive team.
The most enjoyable part of the job for me is learning new recipes and being creative.
It's an extremely professional kitchen full of talent.

I truly enjoy working here because of the excellent environment and supportive culture. My colleagues are great to work with, and the managers are consistently approachable. They foster a low-pressure atmosphere that makes even the difficult, high-season periods much easier to handle. This approach consistently makes me feel happy and motivated at work.

What stands out most is that the company cares deeply not just about guest satisfaction, but also about ensuring employees feel at home and well-treated. It’s a place that values its team, which makes all the difference.
