Cobbs Adventure Park

I regret to say that my experience working at this company has been disappointing on multiple levels. Firstly, it is extremely difficult to advance or gain any transferable experience for future jobs.

In my opinion, the owners frequently put managers in difficult positions producing a challenging work environment rendering them unable to effectively support safety concerns. The introduction of the "Field of Screams" event only exacerbated these safety issues in the already limited animal enclosures.

The positives were close parking, discounted lunches and ice cream during the sunny days, and fairly predictable work schedules. Spending time with the variety of different exotic animals was a benefit so this job may work for you if you are looking for a low stress, part-time job. I found everyone that was hired was competent, fun to work with, and the direct manager worked tirelessly to go above and beyond to support the front line staff as much as they could while managing between the Owners and how out of touch with their staff they appeared to be.

Overall, I would caution anyone considering working for this company to thoroughly research the organization and consider the potential risks involved. 

- Job was straightforward for the most part.
- Cleaning, customer service, first-aid skills was an asset
- If you are skilled with how to change  bandages / wound-care you will be great 
- Learn what you want to and leave when you’ve learned everything you can.
- Promotion is basically guaranteed as long as you are flexible enough dedicate much / a lot / all of your personal time outside of work to caring for animals / the park
- I liked the time I spent with the animals and learning  
- “That’s above my pay-grade” will be a frequent saying of yours 
- Good job to have while in school just be direct about when you can and can’t work and do not let them pressure you into changing them as this place has a high turnover rate.
- Good experience learning boundaries and standing up for yourself when faced with managerial challenges and upset customers
- This is the kind of job where you CAN and definitely should judge a book by its cover before you agree to join the team. Look up the business(s) and do your own research. :)

If you need consistent employment and a place to grow, do not apply here. I would strongly advise you to do very thorough research to make an educated decision if this is the place for you. The lack of communication and organization at times left me feeling worried about my future at the company, and to top it off there being a Vegan was not met with supports in place - both in upper management and options available for me. I hope they can improve in these areas for the benefit of their future employees. Read through everything, then you can decide for yourself. 

I worked at Cobbs from the time I was 14 until 19 and I could not recommend it more. Cobbs is An amazing first job. The management genuinely cares about their staff and work so hard to create a healthy work environment for their staff. I honestly couldn’t give a positive enough review and if I could give more than 5 stars I would. The owners are amazing and involve themselves in daily affairs, and the management is a group of talented, kind, understanding and genuine people. It honestly feels like a family and I have made so many life long friends through working here. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Hanging out with the animals feeding and spending time with all of them.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not getting enough hours and when I was hired didn’t know it was seasonal

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was good my coworkers were nice 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Greeting guests talking about the rules and safety of the animals, answering questions for the guests showing sugar gliders and snakes to people and giving them food to feed the kangaroos.

Management was very nice and helpful but so overwhelmed with work that it was hard to come to them with any concerns or questions. The owners do not provide adequate care or resources for the animals and do not think twice about their employees. It's an easy job to do and you can get away with a lot. 

really good first job but you quickly realize how ridiculous management is. owners dont care about their employees or the animals. animal staff is severely underpaid and under-appreciated. managers try their best with what they've been dealt. free food though sometimes! 

Everything was simple and it took no time to get the hang of. All the people there were very nice and talkative and did what they needed to do. I made a lot of friends there also which was amazing.

Great place to gain work experience for the first time, can be beneficial working for a few years, decent compensation for the work you do, sometimes you may have to do more than you’re paid for, overall not a bad seasonal job

Cobb's was a decent first job for a high school student looking to stay busy in the summertime. The work wasn't particularly mentally stimulating, and shifts were often monotonous.
