Coleman Care Centre

I worked at Coleman Care Centre for 9yrs, part time to full time in 3yrs.
At the beginning it was fun rotating to different units. It was challenging to get to know all routines but really great to get to know all residents likes and dislikes. And now you are stationed at your posting.
Great benefits and it is unionized.
Management are easy to approach which I think is so important.
Staff is amazing!

High stress place.staff is overworked and under paid. The company makes billions and pays their employees peanuts to work short daily and work with incompetant nurses! Unsafe place for staff and residets due to the roof flooding every spring! Not supportive in helping staff navigate this pandemic. No vacations or leau days ever dont know why they give them?

Staff constantly bullies eachother and management does nothing about it!! Even after it being reported multiple times. Mentally draining and messed with my mental health.
The residents are amazing though, they really are. But the staff makes it a horrible environment to work.. not everyone's bad.. but like 75% of the staff.. 
Most are just there for the pay and don't care about the residents.

Working here was very hard mentally and physically. Some of the staff are not so nice, and you get assigned too many residents to be able to spend the time they deserve. But this is really the case in every LTC home and not unique to Coleman. Residents are lovely and the home really does try, it’s just our healthcare system is awful in general 

I have worked at Coleman for 7 years and I love it.  The culture is great and the residents are amazing.  Schlegel Village is a family oriented organization and it drives everything they do.  I feel challenged at work in the best way and have the freedom in my work to help improve the quality of life and change the culture of aging for the residents. 

Very segregated and clicky between staff. Overwork you to death if you keep saying yes to shifts. Your phone will never stop ringing but no guarantee or notice to shiftd. Zero stability in hours. Not the cleanest or freshest smelling work environment.

Terrible working environment. No A/C in the summer. Heavy workload and low pay. Nurse to resident ratio is 1: 40. Staff are friendly and hardworking.  I would not recommend people to work there.

Great place to work ...careing management . If you love longterm care , Coleman Care Centre is the place to be . With a new build in the future there's lots of opportunities.  

I worked full time night shift. During my shift I assisted many residents with their ADL's. I did cleaning and stocking of products and prep for the next shift day. I had to document & report on all shift duties each day.

Too many residents and care needs compared to staff. Always understaffed, poorly managed. there's no proper cooling system, older building with no repairs.
