I enjoy the teamwork, fast-paced environment, and the opportunity to improve my technical skills. The job has helped me become more responsible, detail-oriented, and confident in handling different tasks.

As a Machine Operator and Backup Material Handler, there is pressure to maintain quality, avoid downtime, and quickly solve any  issues. Working in a fast-paced environment also requires staying focused and alert at all times, especially when handling materials and operating machinery safely.

It’s a hands-on, fast-paced setting where safety and efficiency are important, and supervisors expect everyone to stay focused and meet daily goals. Throughout the shift, I monitor machine performance, maintain product quality, fix minor issues, and support material handling when needed. The work is fast-paced and requires teamwork, focus, and efficiency to meet daily production goals.

 A typical day at Columbia Plastics involves a blend of routine tasks and dynamic challenges. We start with a team meeting to outline the day's priorities, followed by individual assignments. My role often requires close collaboration with colleagues across departments, ensuring seamless production and quality control.

 I've learned a lot about the intricacies of plastic injection moulding, from the technical aspects of machine operations to the importance of precision and attention to detail. Additionally, I've gained valuable skills in problem-solving and teamwork.

The management team at Columbia Plastics is supportive and approachable. They provide clear guidance and are always open to feedback, which fosters a positive working environment.

The workplace culture is inclusive and team-oriented. There's a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and professional development, which is encouraged through regular training sessions and workshops.

 The hardest part of the job can be managing tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. However, the collaborative spirit of the team makes it manageable.

In my position - responsibility, not just to the job but people as well.

This is the good part - i heard this all the time from new employees.
How helpful  everybody is.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stand up meeting to make sure were all on the same page, and ten whatever it ook to get it done.
Some days were all office/computer, other times your on the shop floor helping out with production and guidance.

I am currently employed in sales at Columbia and have had the benefit of career advancement and opportunity.

There have been times I may have felt some generational differences with some of the previous management which is normal and can be overcome with communication. Columbia has always provided me a lot of opportunity to advance and has rewarded me for my performance and attitude. 

Culture has come a long way and there is definitely an effort from management to put resources into this. 

They are always hiring I guess employees don’t stay there for long. Fast pace and heavy lifting of boxes which is not mentioned on the indeed hiring job site and the person interviewing doesn’t mention of the heaving lifting done. Boxes are heavy on some lines and stressful too. 
I’ve seen employees fighting of not helping each other.
Pay is very low compared to the work load. Find something else if you can. All the best if you do decide to work at Columbia Plastics. 

It is always something new with all the different projects on the go. It is continuous learning for everyone to meet the customer expectations. Management delegates a lot to the staff and stays out of the way. The hardest part of the job is keeping up and it is also the most enjoyable part as you are always learning something new. Everyone is supportive of the learning environment.

I experienced a win win situation. My ideas were heard and management supported them. I believe I added value to CPL team. 

Management were aware on my potentials and trusted me by gradually giving me more responsibilities (4 positions in 3 years) and I like it.

No regret working at CPL and forever grateful for fruitful working experience.

Working at Columbia Plastics was a great experience. The team shares a common vision that fosters collaboration, innovation, and growth. With plenty of new projects and mentorship, it’s a perfect place to develop technical skills. Everyone is willing to share knowledge, making it a great learning environment. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to grow in a positive, supportive culture.


I worked at Columbia Plastics for 4 months. My family situation changed and I had to leave. It was great company to work for. Everyone there is super helpful and very professional. Work environment is amazing you actually are excited to come into work. Happy and positive environment. Management is so accommodating and approachable. I really enjoyed my time with Columbia plastics.
