Although I really enjoyed my work at Cominar, incompetence and lack of respect from people above me had me leave this place.

Pros:
- I had a strategic position and the team I worked with was great: eager to learn, proactive, knowledgeable.
- The work was great, challenging and fulfilling
- Recognizable brand, which does bring some perks
- There definitely are some great people working for Cominar
- Never had a problem with pays

Cons:
- Serious Lack of listening from the bosses (directors, etc.)
- Complete lack of skills, experience and vision from the bosses
- Bad and unchecked decisions from the bosses hurt the department
- Lack of respect towards employees and their jobs
- Unreasonable demands and unsustainable pressure
- Although Cominar says work-life balance is important, abusive methods are in place to make people work unpaid hours
- HR department is unaware/not listening/could not care less/can't do anything
- High employee turnover rate, loosing good and experienced employees, leaving only the most inexperienced employees accepting an abusive environment

If you are an administrative assistant with great experience you will probably not enjoy the work. For myself, I got hired for a new combined position that had no solid foundation to properly open the position. My supervisors seemed like they didn’t really know how to give me the resources I needed when asked. They also didn’t seemed to know what was my job in general. Questions you ask are being asked to other people and the waiting is really long. Deadlines are often passed before you get an answer. In my opinion, customers service is not a priority for the department I was in. Most of the oldest team members are being terminated for a restructuration of the company. People often talk bad about others freely and some lack professionalism. There’s one vice-president that will never answer you back when you greet them… it was a first for me and found it really arrogant and disrespectful. Overall, hopefully their restructuring will improve the employee experience.

Everyday was a new challenge with great co-workers. Management only got involved if needed, they let you do your job and assisted when needed. Office environment was awesome, great people to work with and everyone helped everyone. The hardest part of the job was keeping the undesired public off of our property (loitering and drug use).

I work at the customer service in the Administration for Cominar. Working there comes with it perks. I’ve been working there for four months now. Time flies by quickly. The whole Cominar team is welcoming. The benefits that comes with the job is great! Although, the pandemic did cut some of our hours we still feel appreciated by the company. 

A typical day at work was really simple, the customers were pretty nice to talk to. The job was not complicated at all, all we have to do was to offer a great customer service to everyone and always displaying a proper image of the company.

Cominar is a large organization that has many diverse properties particularly in Quebec.  They would transport their staff from the Ottawa branch to Montreal for their Christmas parties. They value young talent at the detriment of more experienced older staff.

Terrible place stay away

My job with Cominar REIT was not what I was hoping it would be.  I spent a lot of time idle.  I was given a lot of responsibilities when I initially started but due to management changes a lot of my role went to another office in Nova Scotia.

Enjoyed the team I worked with. Work life balance was great - great location. I had an exceptional manager who treated me well and took the time to help me expand my role in the company.
