I was very lucky to work under managers that were fair, level-headed & were willing to teach.  However, there were boatloads of negative employee interactions & upper management truly only cared about how much money was brought in by the employees.  

One employee (which I know personally) was forced to quit because a new, more senior collector bullied her nonstop.  I also witnessed several incidents of sexual harassment, and many transpired publically.  

At the time of my employment, you were required to work extra hours (either the week before or after) to make up for a statutory holidays.  Also, unpaid overtime was expected.  It was a very competition-oriented environment and some managers (none of mine) had no reservations about psychologically toying with young, green employees in order to get them to work unpaid hours or enviously compete with  their  coworkers.  

Now the best part about this company, from my own personal experience, was that if management felt you were doing everything they asked of you.. salary, benefits, days off & perks flowed to your direction.  One of the managers even linked a group of paying accounts to my name so that I would gain all the commission, none of my coworkers knowing the wiser.  It probably happens all the time.  I guess that's how the industry works.. but I didn't complain.  LoL.. I was grateful & did my best to advise the other straight-shooting employees how to capitalize.  The vice president even told me that I had increased my base salary by 24% in a matter of less than a year.  It sounds great, but I did learn that no amount of money is worth being surrounded by unhappy, over-worked & maltreated individuals who don't even know they're running a rat-race with no end prize.  

Also, they used to throw the best summer BBQ's, monthly Jack Astors visits for the "target hitters."

Working as a debt collector at Common Collection Agency was one of the most stressful jobs I’ve ever had. The management only cares about numbers, not the employees or the customers we deal with. The training was rushed, and there was little to no support once you were on the phones. The atmosphere is toxic — supervisors constantly monitor and criticize your calls, and the pressure to meet unrealistic targets is nonstop. The pay is not worth the stress, especially with all the verbal abuse you take from angry customers every day. There’s no real opportunity for growth or recognition, and the turnover rate is extremely high because people can’t handle the burnout. The company culture feels cold and disconnected, and morale is always low. Overall, it’s a mentally draining job that leaves you exhausted and unappreciated. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone.

15 dialer systems have to be set up by the end of the day for the outbound callers to automatically dial the numbers. Each dialer consisted of thousands of numbers that will automatically be called to. My job was to sort out numbers according to province, credit ratings, clients and etc using SQL databases and running queries in order to get the specific data I was looking for in order to add to the dialer.

It's as good as it gets generally speaking. No mandatory Saturday and less draconian on targets and time at desk then most outfits. Make them money and they'll accommodate you as best they can, simple as. The work itself is unpleasant but the environment and reward structure is great. If you're currently at another agency I'd highly recommend seeing what they can offer you. 

I have enjoyed working for CCA over the last 20 years. I have obtained relivant skills and qualifications from management and  co-workers. A typical day is fast paced and time goes by quickly. Management is always there to help. Co - workers are pleasant to work with.

I have enjoyed working at CCA, there has been some down times but mostly good times.  It’s a relaxing environment to work in. Friendly co workers.  The supervisors and managers are very approachable.  

My experience during the first 3 years were good unfortunately after that my last  2 years changed to bad, horrible and got escalde to nightmares definitely the thought experience in my career. All the trouble/headaches not worthy the pay. 

Compared to most companies in industry very flexible in terms of the  work schedule. Great training and support provided for good practice in the industry.

My day unusally consisted of the following:

- Returning Phone calls and messages.
- Sending emails and responding to email
- Sending Information packages by fax, email, mail etc

This employer was a good employer however the work hours were not very great especially if you have children at home. Quotas needed to be met and if they were not met management was not afraid to let you go.
