I enjoyed working for CLS however the pay is not enough for the amount of duties required, and if you are with a coordinator who isn't up to the task of running the facility, you're doomed.  I ended up working over 100 hours per week (120 hours per week sometimes) and that was just clocked time, I also had phone conferences and meetings during my time off with a team of behavioral interventions and psychologists, as well as family members.  The individual I was mainly taking care of had many triggers and needed more support than the housing he was in could offer.  He was in his own apartment requiring full time care, with aggressive behaviour and other staff and individuals on the floor who could have been in danger at anytime.

Hard to get in with the staff, tight nit and don't help or explain their computer work program, left me to fall through the cracks and as a result I was told it was me not able to grasp their computer system, and that I didn't fit in with the client which I was told by a senior co-worker they should of never put me with him because as a first time employee he was extremely extremely difficult. They letme go as a result.  I felt it was one sided and they set me up to look bad and did not give me a chance to prove myself or let me explain myself just assumed it was the way it was.

This job is nice because it is easy. This job is difficult because you have to push and make everything happen yourself with no help/ possibly discouragement from upper management who don't know the job as well as they think they do. Upper management will also lie to employees about rules in the company that do not exist and when called out about these rules will lie directly to employees and supervisors face about ever saying it. Most of the people at this job don't really care and just want to get through the day.

Ongoing hiring of incompetent team lead, managers, and some staff that are not fitted to work in this industry.  Come from a place of power and control the Society in general, they do not stand for what their policies say, and in my opinion do not protect clients or staff.  Your voice is not heard if you have concerns so basically if you are a people pleaser, can't set boundaries, be assertive they want you. They say all the right things at the interview but not coming from a place of honesty, and integrity.

community living society that provides high level around the clock care to quadriplegic residents with physical and intellectual challenges. The type of care provided in this health facility includes full personal hygiene, medication administration, charting, feeding both feeding by mouth and enteric feeding, tracheotomy changes and care. 
Management and co workers are friendly and helpful in every hard situation.
It is highly medical and challenging job. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is celebration of the birthday of the individual.    


- It doesn’t feel like management trusts staff. My supervisor was great but my experience with them was the only positive one with management overall. 
- Communication is poor and case notes are very minimal.
- It took months between my first and second interview. 
- Despite a lot of applications, we did not have enough staff. This may have been because the hiring process takes so long that applicants went elsewhere. 
- I was kept as ‘casual’ despite having several weekly clients who were solely my responsibility. 
- CLS is highly anti-union

waking up clients, preparing them to go to work,getting them dressed,dispensing medications,
making breakfast,packing lunches,
making sure all of the persons get on the bus safely,
clean up,writing reports,shift exchange with other support staff,
all of this done with a positive attitude and smile

My direct manager was fantastic. The job itself can be stressful, but can also be very rewarding.

It can be a challenge to set boundaries at work with the clients (as they have your personal cell number). There are a lot of hours and shifts available, but unfortunately they do not pay overtime.

A lot of education and training available. Good work experience and have been able to apply it to future jobs.

Focus on the active support of the client. Community awareness is given importance. Focus on unrequired qualifications. Trust staff very little. 
Very partial. The manager doesn't critically analyze the situation

I fount my passion in this kind of job. I really enjoy to share time and smile of nature and happiness with all my clients. I learn a lot about people with disability or mental challenges, each individual are unique and need difference technique to approach. I always enjoy my work and always try my best to be good team work.
