Consumer Contact

As an employee all you needed to was remember your password and login which made it very easy to start the day and there were no computer problems. We conducted surveys over the phone with consumers about anything. After so long it became repetitive b/c the the did not change and I could say most of them with my eyes  closed. Majority of the time we were getting feedback from customer's who banked with the companies clients such as TD Canada Trust or those who might use a specific service provider. On the open ended questions it was imperative to type verbatim, probe and clarify each response,and at the end of each call there was a certain amount of time to go back and edit what you entered. Between that and being cautious of your idle time was the hardest part of the job.  The work culture in this company was great and positive, there was no bad time to ask for feedback, to come into the office of the manager or supervisors office that was located on the same level as us. When feedback was given by those listening to your call for quality control purposes, it was never badly spoken and respect between everyone was given regardless of what position you held. Working in the morning before getting a promotion for the receptionist position I was able to build rapport with the business men and women that I was conducting the surveys with required more attention to detail such a dealing with their gatekeepers. These were clients that held business accounts with companies such as TD Canada Trust or held business banking accounts in United States. Sometimes it took calling back more than a few times to get the survey complete  and reminding the business person why they should take twenty minutes out of their day to complete the surveys was the most challenging part of the job. The most enjoyable part was interacting with my co workers, sharing stories and conversations we had over the phone, our personal stories that I felt confident would not leave the room, the bonds we shared even with management and supervisors. No one made any one feel lesser than, no question was a stupid question and no requests were left ignored. 

During my time at Consumer Contact I was promoted to reception ith full time hours from 9-5pm. I didn't get paid a higher salary but I took as a great  opportunity that I place on my resume and I enjoyed the experience. To make extra income I opted to select shifts in the evening to continue conducting surveys with consumers. I became great at both positions as I slowly started to recognize the hard work and chain of events that made it possible for everyone to remain employed and what it meant to maintain client satisfaction.

I worked part time casual about four to five days a week. My shifts were typically five hours a day.

I learned to relax and enjoy my time on the phones. At mid point in my career we had automatic dialing.

Management was divided into a male, and a female supervisor. Both would ensure formal attitude at the work place.

My co-workers were young high school and university students with another older person working beside me.

The hardest part of the job was to adjust when the male supervisor who was over operations left the employ of Consumer Contact. Also, I failed badly at piece rate surveys. I was always allowed to do hourly timing.

The most enjoyable part of the job was to get to work at a bright area that was properly airconditioned. Most fellow surveyors were happy, well adjusted youth that had a sense of humor.

It gave me an upscale opportunity to have that challenge as the research was difficult and I adore all my case workers getting where they are within the company, knowing there’s opportunities along the way encouraged me to act and speak in a professional manner hoping it’ll help me in the future if not now. And working with my team getting the projects done created an atmosphere where I can work well with others.

Productivity was a major scale in determining one's job performance within this company. My job as a telephone interviewer consist of performing customer satisfaction surveys for a variety of different banks. This job has given me the opportunity to enhanced my customer service skills within that industry and its a skill I can definitely transfer to other professions if required.

- Learned some phone skills in addition to coercing skills
- Management was not as great as other employers in the similar field
- Checks productivity, but does not give guidance on how to improve productivity

The company had a good team environment. I learned to use  my communication skills well for interviewing company employees. the hardest part of the job was filling quotas.

Many highschool students worked at Consumer Contact as a way to make a pt income. As a result, many of my coworkers were people I could relate to and got along well with. You essentially just carried out surveys for a variety of clients with as polite of a phone manner as you could.

This job is a job thats great for beginners looking to gain some phone experience and working with customers over the phone. Although it is telemarketing, it is good if you are trying to gain some experience in the receptionist world, and its fairly easy. Laid back workplace and a good place to meet new people.

I was happy being around others and working with food and doing cleaning duties. The managers were all decent and pleasant to deal with. I am looking forward to a job in the food bar restaurant industry again.
