it's a fun and outgoing job with travel and always being on the water you get to see some amazing things and some not so amazing .

the job pays around 50k a year or more if there is work.
55k for harvest captains plus truck allowance cell phone gas card and credit card .

there is no job sustainability and the wages are low and they give you time and a half from minimum after your 88 hours for two weeks which means if you already make alittle more than 15$ an hour your not getting anything extra but your normal wage . caped around 19 an hour if your with Kelly's cove but a not known amount but lower closer to 17 in true north harvesting division. also danger pay  for Kelly's but not true north but only on the day you go out and it's not considered all that fit out side . but it's not even 30 cents an hour more so who overly cares . and job advancement happens alot faster in Kelly's cove . they will block your transfers though because they are always short handed seen more people come and go then I have fingers and toes. in 3 years .

the work is long and hard and very time consuming the weather is freezing cold and if you get sea sick not for you the clothing provided barley keeps the cold out I mean you still can't feel your face feet hands and may lose feeling in other body parts . with random start and ending times everyday your work schedule is always changing and have to call in multiple times a day to find out about work . and if you already talked to them 10 times that day but missed there call for real and work started an hour and a half after you were notified.  and you missed it that's on you and goes on your record . also don't call in sick to many times or ever miss a day and your butt is on the chopping block first thing . 
to the person that said Christmas party's are great and so are the holidays yeah must be nice having weeks off while we are still working and can't get a hold of pay role most of the month of December and even work Christmas eves and get no extra wages just a 100 gift card . then being told for the first time to be ready for the Christmas party at 7 at night and it starts in 2 hours after you worked all day . then then the following year no one was invited at all. nearly 50 guys and 5 boats . don't know why we are stuck in true north and not Kelly's cove . getting shafted in every other way . because of the processing division has the rights to a few boats that they don't know anything about .

I worked for the wharf crew department and let's just say that cookes moto of " we plan your future path" stuff is just if you work in the office. You will notice a big difference of how labours are treated compared to the office workers and so on. Fails to provide all safety courses need to do the job lawfully before work should begin (Confined space, fall arrest, MED, forklift ticket, anyone with first aid) while I was there because of the department size. Be expected to only know when you work one day in advance. Shifts generally start at 12PM-6PM  at any given day and can end 11am the next day and you be expected to work 20 plus hours if need with no night shift premiums and expected to still work for 2 pm the next day without any compensation. Entering the hold of the boat daily to shovel the salmon up the fish hose because of inefficient offloading design with fish blood water constantly spraying you in the face as they use it to control the blood level in the hold. Outside constantly with no real lunch area with a chair to sit down and even eat. Something you would think as a benefit would be the ability to have a break whenever you finish offloading a boat for a few hours while getting paid is awesome but is near torture if you actually are a worker and don't have a place to go while there is a break as there are no accommodations at work. Expected to do other jobs like cleaning up the pallet yard unexpectedly or dump tubs of fish up in the factory (if you want to or not). Almost unchangeable toxic atmosphere because of department size and any change "could" affect some people's personal lives. Besides all the negatives I've never been in better shape in my life and I quite enjoy that. You will be jumping, climbing, and lifting all the time while "working". Bluecross they provide is pretty excellent. This job would be more worth the personal life sacrifice if it paid more then 15.5/h starting wage and tops out around 20 with standard overtime applying. In my opinion I've been an excellent worker for them and never 
have missed or taken a sick day and been there almost 2 years and make 16.8. Stay in school kids.

A typical day up , dressed , and out the door for six am.Arrive at work for six-thirty to seven for start time.Gear up and be on floor to be sent  to your work area.Depending on how well and accurate you do the job will depend on how many different areas they train you for and send you to.Fifteen minute breaks every 2 or three hours depending on the orders to be filled.Not paid half hour for lunch.A normal day twelve hours.seven to seven pm .not so normal day seven am to ten thirty pm depending orders and conditions. Allowed to pick up extra shift when available. Seven to ten days rotating through a two week period based on individuals abilities and performances.Conditons-- strong fish odor,cold wet, standing on grates,rubber mates, cement flooring through out entire shift . Depending on jobs being performed repetition on one body part or another. pinboning hands,the binns hands back and neck. packing hands back legs and feet as well as arms even when done properly.majority of staff and colleagues awesome to work for and with no matter the shift, A B or Nights.

I enjoyed the people I worked with. I would pin bone salmon all day.for the first month and then they started training me for other jobs. I liked spicing the salmon and putting them on trays to wrap. I learned a lot of different jobs in a short time. I feel management needs some people skills they don’t have patience to show people what they need to do on a job that you never did before. For me the hardest part of the job was trying to learn how do to certain jobs with just being thrown into it without being showed how to do it. To me the most enjoyable part and scary part was learning new things. I give my all and all too any job I have,

The company pushes you to work long hours, and does the least it can to pay overtime, while boasting billion dollar bottom lines and acquisitions.  The environment can be quite toxic and negative, and quite often, safety is overlooked for the sake of task completion.  We often joked that safety was only important during the slow periods.  If the environment were more positive, and the upper management more connected to the employees concerns, this would be a pretty good job.

A typical day would be going in many different directions and feeling very stressed and unappreciated

Cooke's is a great company - working here is comfortable and employees are polite and friendly. Typical day is pretty standard in the accounts payable field: there is lots of data entry and processing of invoices as well as incoming and outgoing communication with vendors. The job is not hard if you are effective in time management and personal deadlines. The only drawback is compensation which is  minimal.

Everyone is afraid of the one man show. It’s his way or no way. The employees are wonderful people of all nationalities, you couldn’t ask for better co workers. The salary can use a lot of work and not have 3-4 of the same job titles getting different salaries no matter what your experience is. The rotations are good but depending on where your from decides if you get paid travel and what rotation you will do. They will supply safety gear, and winter clothing that want back if you leave the company. 

Hard work, long hours, cold conditions, processing line work requires stamina, ability to work as a team and communication skills. Supervisors are working under a fast paced environment.
I did very well, and made lots of friends,, and earned respect from my supervisors as well as coworkers.
