Copper Mountain Mine

Typical day: 
Board room for tail gate safety meeting, assigned job tasks and or shovels to haul from, trip out to trucks, pre-trips then off to assigned shovels, end of day finish paper work on load sheets park in assigned areas then back to office to hand in papers.
What I learned:
How to work with and communicate with all mine site employees and management for the tasks and problems that come up and or concerns and safety. 
Management:
Addresses most all problems effectively and or looks for new solutions if needed. 
Co-workers:
Most work well together and care highly when it comes to safety, always watching for any probable concerns with equipment ie safety. Communication is very good and most all learn this very quick, we help each other in all areas. Production and safety is high on our thoughts and actions.
Hardest part of the job:
Being broke down, having a haul road to narrow and or not graded soon enough.
Most enjoyable:
Driving throughout the mine being outside and seeing everything. Staying dry and warm in winter and cool in the summer. Can't beat that.

You gotta know somebody there in order to get a job... or marry into a family.  Unsafe place, they hide safety violations or fire the people who report safety issues.  
If you upset the apple cart, they tell you your job has been downsized and they get rid of you.  Then they wait a couple of weeks and re-create your position with a different name, and give it to one of their little toadies.
People who work there are too scared to complain because they'll lose their jobs.  They are constantly threatened with the mine closing down in order to keep them in line. 
Any talk of organizing is immediately stamped out, and the company is quick to start rumours and spread lies about how the union will kill the company.
They have an in-house "rat" program.... incentives for ratting on your fellow employees.
In short, don't count on getting a job there, and even if you do.. don't count on keeping it.

The mine looks beautiful at first impression, everything is well organized with advanced equipment. 

BUT, there are a certain amount of people tried their best to make the workplace toxic, having fun bullying and harassing young people and new employees， 

As an optimistic, good-tempered person who always being happy in the past few years, I met someone here who kept making me angry and sleepless. The experience over there was totally a nightmare, even for just a few months. Now I feel so lucky not working there anymore.

If you are a young person trying to explore the mining world, there are tons of good places to go, but copper mountain is definitely your last choice. 

This is a company without a future if they don't start making changes!

No training provided, you better be able to self learn. safety culture is a joke, just smoke and mirrors, so be responsible for your own safety. On a positive note, there is zero accountability, for any of your work, just don't get on the wrong side of upper management or HR, or you will be hung out to dry.  Our Employee handbook of benefits is also completely useless, and HR does not stand behind it, better bring your copy of the Employment Standards Act with you. Hardest part of the job is finding another job when you have Copper mountain mine on your resume.  Oh did I mention the summers are nice here when the sun is Shining?

Nope not wasteing any more energy on this company. Common sense is not very common in this workplace. God help you if you stand your ground on safety issues or have any input that will save money as the boss will think you are a threat. As well, if you like to find ways to go out of your way to harm a co-worker, like if you want to seriously damage reputation of a co-workers livelihood, this is the place to learn with the companys confidential informant program they encourage.

Cost of living in town has gone up astronomically and it doesn't seem like the mine has a plan to make life easier. Benefits are ok, rrsp matching could be a lot better, bonus structures are a complete joke for this industry. The pay rate is actually pretty fair but the wage averaging is stupid. They should just pay the overtime daily. Not a big union person but if theres a place that needs one its here. Even just to reshape their outdated policies ie. drug and alcohol policy, clean shave policy, holidays and sick time… all out of touch. But if you wanna job that you can almost do anything you want without being held accountable its the perfect place for you.

If you are interested in a negative work environment, and are 100% for advancement in your career by intimidation and judgement this is your workplace. If you are ok with doing a job incorrectly rather than proactively, this to... your workplace. If you are in a place at this worksite that encourages co workers to voice themselves without reprimand, or better yet if you have your co workers back, you WILL BE REMOVED from the workplace...

Most unsafe place I've worked at. Concerns brought up repeatedly with no action for months on end . Always pressure to go nowhere . Entire HR and engineering departments just quit
 What does that tell you .toxic 

Copper Mountain has plenty of room for advancement for those seeking opportunities.

This mine is continually focused on safety and improving safety practices.

The mine is located in southern B.C. which is a very favorable place to call home.

Copper Mountain shows signs of long mine life by constantly working in exploration and investing in itself to ensure a long term career for anyone who works at the mine.



Management could care less about any of the employees. Penny pinchers, MICRO MANAGED, if it’s not their idea on how to solve a problem they dont wanna hear it, if you’re not in the management friend zone you’re a peasant. Will throw you under the buss in a heart beat. 
If they listened to the employees and took feed back as a productive view point rather than a negative comment they would improve.
