Copper Point Resort

A typical work day would start with checking in at the office, grabbing my clipboard - to see which floor we have been assigned to. I would then head to my floor and begin with my assigned rooms or any services that needed to be done so on and so forth.

Seeing as I went to school and did learn a bit about this area in the resort, it was neat to apply my knowledge to the job itself. I got into a routine and started to fly through cleaning the rooms.

I feel management struggled with the lack of consistency throughout the rooms. One manager would tell me one thing, while the other would be trying to correct me on another. There was also a bit of an issue with communication throughout the departments and with staff.

My co-workers were awesome! I met a lot of really cool people working for this company and that is something I will always cherish. I feel if you have great co-works and you're happy to work with them, it makes for a wonderful time on the job.   

The hardest part on the job would be the hours. Going there, I was promised a certain amount of hours especially since I was going to be paying rent, groceries, shuttle pass, and other bills. But there would be times where I would have two weeks of almost no work given the exception of one or two shifts on the weekends. As well as I started to feel it becoming a just a casual seasonal job, not something that I could turn into a career which is what I am looking to find at this point. 

The most enjoyable part of the job for myself would have to be working out of town and trying something new. All in all I really did enjoy my experience and time out there. I met a lot of really friendly people and the town was quite nice as well. It was a great adventure, I'm ready for my next!

Shifts began with an early arrival and individual boards, providing information for our daily tasks - all set to time schedules. I have learned how to manage time and successfully plan ahead, including counting linen and stock, communicating effectively and appropriately with guests,  and gathering required equipment. I very much enjoyed the job, although physical and quite stressful when there were complete turnovers of guests. That was probably the hardest part of the job, but the boss, workplace culture, co-workers, and even communication with international guests had made it much easier and quite pleasant. Management was effective and my supervisors and boss were more than willing to expose me to management practices and assist with training which I had enjoyed immensely.

Copper Point Resorts' Food and Beverage Department is a bit of a joke. Though all the staff are friendly there is a severe lack of communication between management and their employees. The lack of organisation in the work place is disheartening and though the clientele are friendly and the food is tasty there is something more to be desired. 

Many of the staff here get along quite well, and the team atmosphere that has been created can be great at times. The wage is not overly great, though the benefits are alright.

It's a great experience! I love solving problems and seeing people come out on a vacation and leave all happy and relaxed! Working together at front desk problem solving and woking together really does make you wanna come into work everyday! Everyone is super friendly so even on your first day you won't be left out or lost! Front desk is a great job for anyone who simply enjoys interacting with people and discovering their passion.. it's stressful but you feel good at the end of the day you knowing you made people smile and helped them with anything they need!

Copper Point Resort was overall a delightful place to work.  My daily tasks included cleaning rooms (around 8-15 rooms/suites a day), servicing rooms while guests are in attendance, and helping maintain common areas such as the lobby or hallways. I was required to adhere to a remarkable standard of cleanliness as outlined by Copper Point while ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of each guest to their specific needs. Overall, I had the opportunity to interact with a diverse clientele while better refining my housekeeping and interpersonal skills.

The Resort has amazing staff and return clientele that I thoroughly enjoyed working with!!  I was well respected in my department and had a very enjoyable experience learning at all of the training seminars!!  I also was fortunate enough to teach yoga classes there for a few months and take advantage of their amazing pools & workout out room.  They even ordered in a special protein shake to provide to the yogis!!  The restaurant has great food and some pretty amazing servers too!!

The multiple regular changes in the senior management positions (GM, Directors, etc.) Made it very difficult to build a solid relationship or trust with in the organization.  If you like consistency, organization, fairness or if you are  a manager/leader that likes to have control over their department and trust in your abilityto do the job , this is not a company for you. Unless you like working unpaid overtime and lots of it!!

Overworked employees. Low salaries. Staff accommodations that doesn’t accommodate very much. There’s a lack of employees in every departments, but they keep booking the hotel as much as they can making it impossible for staff to keep up and putting all the pressure on them. Very clicky and lots of hypocrisy. Lots of slackers. No action taken to reduce impact on our environment. However, if you put in time and effort, they will be nice and conciliatory with your request. But you have to be on their good side. 

The top management is useless zeros, there are cases when cooks and waiters in the kitchen are overworked, and they are not paid for these hours, they also work there without a break. if you work quickly and well and have done your job, the top brainless management asks you to pretend to work. Top management lies and is not responsible for their words. Sick leave is very often not approved for you, and if you are sick, then people work on the front desk with a fever. In a word, a cesspool

I currently work here as a Housekeeper, and in really enjoy being here.  Management is extremely fair and are just awesome to be around. Not many places allow you to listen to music while working, but this places does. They have great discounts too for the food and rooms. Coworkers are a lot of fun to be around too. Amazing place, and amazing people.  I love it here.
