My experience with Copp’s was pretty positive overall. I found the management and supervision fair, responsive, positive, and supportive. I feel the pay I was receiving for what was expected of me was extremely reasonable. The company offers paid vacation after a year, a benefits package, and a uniform budget. Some of these offerings aren’t top of the line per se, but for the position and the experience required for the job I found it to be pretty generous and satisfactory. 

Some of the work can be physically straining occasionally but it’s nothing too intense or severe in my opinion. Some of the duties can become a little repetitive for some people’s liking I would imagine, but nothing too terrible. The work is conducted outdoors for the most part, so weather conditions is something that has to be considered and weighed in. Opportunities for promotions or moving up in the company can be challenging to acquire because there’s such a large number of long term employees and not a ton of openings. However, if you put in the hard work and the time, something will come up, it’s just likely not as quick or timely as many people would hope. Also this job is a great pathway to receive forklift experience if that’s something you desire. 

Pretty solid gig, especially considering the qualifications needed. I would recommend it as an entry level job without question.

I have worked at Copp's for many years and really enjoy the family atmosphere.  It is a busy organization with a lot going on but the Management team is generally relaxed and create a comfortable working environment.  The work/life balance is excellent as well.

There are opportunities for advancement to Supervisor and Management roles and the company seems to often promote from within.  I have worked hard and been given opportunities to learn many things.  For example, I have learned about various building products, building methods, merchandising, product purchasing and general business strategies.  I have also advanced within the company over time.  If you want to learn something new or be challenged in a new way all you have to do is speak to your manager and they take your wishes into account.

I also find that Copp's management appreciates new ideas and react to situations quickly.  This makes your opinion feel valued and just makes your day that much more enjoyable.

Have been with Copp's for over 15 years. Started out on the sales desk, worked my way up to branch management and currently working in the Head Office. There is a great deal of staff movement and, for those who put forth the interest and effort, there is plenty of room for advancement. 
I work with a lot of great people who genuinely care about the work they do and about delivering first rate customer service. Many employees here have been at Copp's for years and wouldn't want to work anywhere else. It's also great to meet so many young people who work here, often as a first, part-time job, for whom Copp's is a valuable experience on their way to another career. 
There are benefits and a staff discount for those who stay beyond one year, as well as a retirement plan. Staff training is a high priority and not only equips staff for their work here but also provides home improvement knowledge and skills that may come in handy for present and future homeowners. 
I appreciate that this is an independent, family-owned and operated business where work life balance is valued.

I currently work as one of the shippers. My typical day starts with checking trucks and assigning drivers and load builders. At my branch I am responsible for 5 truck, 4 dedicated load builders and 6 drivers. The bulk of my day is spent organizing and communicating with our sales team and drivers. 

Since starting this role I have learned a lot about; the products, the operations and overall homebuilding/construction process. I also learned a lot about how Copp's has established themselves as a company that constantly strives to serve customers better.

I appreciate the culture of hard work being recognized and enjoy working with people that share these values. I enjoy coming to work and being busy, and accomplishing a lot every day. I have met some amazing customers and employees at the branch I work at. The best part of my job is being involved with a team that cares about the work they do and strive to improve.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There was a camaraderie between most staff. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not knowing what each day would be until reporting to work. Some days were 10 hours others were 4.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic due to management.
Drivers are not respected.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 6am. Strap and tarp the truck. Go on first run. After first run you have to beg for work for the rest of the day or they will send you home early.

Punching in is difficult due to the clock being in the basement and runs on biometrics. If the person before had dirty hands it won't take you punch until cleaned. Punch in 1 min late loose 30 min pay.
30 min lunch is deducted each day but you are harassed if you take it.

So this is for the people who are trying to work in the cops buildall. I have worked here for almost 2 months and a half and I’m gonna say that the employee that you’re gonna work with sucks They are very racist specially if you’re Asians, this is not for you so don’t even go! However, the staff like managers and supervisor, they’re very nice but the employee that you’re gonna work with are very rude. They are not afraid to say anything bad to you in front of your face. Not all the employees are bad there are a few like CHATT who always get angry for no reason and bring thousands of reason to make you quit the job. I would have stayed at this job if the workers were friendly. Work was good but workers are not. Be careful they will do anything to make you look bad.


I have been with Copp's for 5 years. I have had many roles, from yard supervisor, to specialty sales assistant. Being a female in a male dominated industry can be difficult, however, while working at Copp's I have never felt that I have been treated any different than anyone else. Copp's has given me every opportunity to succeed, and always makes sure I have the tools and knowledge to get to where I want to be within the company. They have been flexible with my schedule, days required off, and always made sure I could make up any hours if needed. Management is fair, and always willing to talk about any thoughts/concerns. A+ work environment, and I hope to be around here for years to come.

My job at Copps Buildall was to be a laborer in the lumber warehouse.  During the summer days were very busy as many contractors and homeowners were working on their homes and other projects.  It was a good environment to manage multiple tasks at a time and learn how to handle customers in a fast paced environment.  During the winter when lumber was not in high demand work was much more laid back. The most difficult part of the job was learning all of the materials the store carried but once that was accomplished, the job became very smooth day to day. It was very enjoyable working outside and working alongside people that are easy to get along with.

I have worked at Copp's for over 10 years. I started in a lumber yard roll. With hard work, I advanced through multiple areas of the business, eventually landing in an Outside sales position after working on the retail side of sales. The family atmosphere here is awesome and you really learn how to work as a team. The work/life balance is great. If you work hard here you will advance as most of the promoting is done within the company. Coming to work for Copp's is one of the best decisions I have ever made. You meet great people(employees and customers) which have become friends of mine outside of the workplace as well. 

The work day and the overall work environment depends on what you work as. I worked as a drywall carrier for about 2 weeks and I hated my life. The intense 8-10 hour work days including carrying 500 pieces of drywall was not something I was used to physically and it was horrible. The pay for that is so bad and it was not worth it and thats when I switched to customer service. Customer service is pretty chill if the weather is good. If the weather sucks, then prepare to have a terrible day. coworkers are pretty chill and good to talk to. Management is okay I guess.
