While working for CorLiving at face value seems like a welcoming, friendly environment with a supportive culture, this quickly turns on it's head the longer you spend time at the company. Heaven forbid you start to enter into a management style position where you start to see the wrinkles, lack of vision, ever changing plan by the day, and cut throat, unapologetic lack of ability to accept responsibility for mistakes. With the highest turnover I've ever seen in ANY company I've worked for (yes including retail), employees saw friends, fresh hires and long time employees fired or quitting due to lack of coaching, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and ever changing "vision". 

The culture was borderline hostile with stress levels always at an all time high from people doing jobs and tasks completely different than what they are originally hired for and NOT getting compensated for it. This was a common theme throughout CorLiving and made everyone working there on edge for their job. Be careful what job you are hired for as I've seen almost every employee's responsibilities completely shift due to the company being short staffed. My word of advice if you DO work here, is to be very careful what extra work you take on, as you WILL permanently be stuck with those tasks, regardless of how irreverent it is to your original job description. This causes you to do your job you were originally hired for to about 60% of your ability, which has lead to MANY people eventually getting fired or quitting. Most people working here are doing the job of about 2-3 people. 

If there is a snowstorm or some type of event that diminishes your ability to come into work, even though most employees are completely capable of working from home, you are REQUIRED to come in no matter what. I'm guessing they don't let you work from home because they can't monitor what you are doing, as many positions has working from home as a viable option. You also don't get any sick days, so you either stay home without getting paid (on salary as well), or do what most people do which is come into work with your sickness and play a game of "try not to get my cold."

There are a lot of amazing, talented and very hard-working employees here that you can get to know personally and are a joy to talk to and be around. They are very smart, and you can learn a lot of skills from the experienced employees that work there. Unfortunately, the office environment around them has turned into an unorganized and desperate scramble to keep their head above water while trying to hire the least amount of people as possible. This gives the employees and managers an unrealistic work load, huge amounts of stress, salaries under the standard market value and poor attitudes from the start. You'd be lucky to make it past the 3-month probation period, unless you are a jack of all trades and can learn new jobs on the fly to make up for the short staffing issue.

There was only one reason that made working at CorLiving was tolerable - some of the coworkers. Other than that, it was probably one of the most poorly managed companies and a lot of the management team had put themselves on a pedestal and refused to come down. 

While working at CorLiving, everything learnt is done by yourself or with very minimal training. The management team have zero idea with how to help with your job as they do not know what to do. On top of that, if you do a good job in your hired position you will likely end up doing other peoples jobs too. If you were struggling with your job and not receiving any help, you were likely let-go for "not doing your job".

Management also allowed for poorly conceived ideas to be implemented without question and refused to listen to staff when issues were presented. 

The work culture that was almost forced on staff was "we are a family". This only meant that any non-management employee had to take on more tasks or be willing to go "above-and-beyond" their job description (which was frequently changed by management). If they didn't, they were "not a team player". This created a very toxic environment and made many workers feel manipulated.

Pros 

There are some really great people who work here... and if you end up working here, I highly recommend you take the time to find them. Nice office and in a good location if you're in Langley or South Surrey with free parking. Sometimes they bring in treats or buy lunch... Some days and aspects can be a lot of fun!

Cons

Don't be fooled... there are quite a few people here with an agenda of their own. It'll be best if you keep your head down, your mouth shut, and just punch the clock (yes, even if you're on salary). Good idea if you don't try to go to bat for yourself or anyone else.. it'll end poorly. Zero leadership or vision that comes from upper management; you're left to the wolves and shamed when you ask for help. Communication is extremely poor; the company doesn't live up to its own core values. Has alot of potential, but sadly in the state that it's in with the people who are in the roles they are in, it is really starting to suffer. People are worked to the bone and continuously have more and more added to their plate with no extra perks or compensation. Very high turnover, and very (VERY!) low morale. There are companies out there who encourage growth, development with a supportive and inclusive team environment... This unfortunately isn't one of them.

Whether you work well on your own or if you need structure as there is lots of autonomy in some departments and lots of structure in others - so something for everyone, if you like a challenge (new projects and technology), or even if you like to do more structure workloads, and like a fast paced environment, this is the company for you.  

Great co-workers, established company (stable work place even thrived during COVID), growing with lots of opportunity to try new things.  Which I thrive in, perhaps that is the same for you!

Like any growing company there can be changes in roles at times (as a few other reviews mentioned) but I love variety and learning new things.  Management wants to hear where there are roadblocks and possible solutions, a true open door policy.

Ownership is always looking to improve processes and wants people that want to be a part of that.  One of my favorite companies to work for in my work experience.  Have never experienced an cut throat coworkers/managers, receive feedback often, am asked regularly if I have questions, and have never felt I could not ask a question.

I worked at Corliving for about 6 years doing inventory and was quite happy with my time there. They had a solid team of good people all the way up the ladder, and I always felt communication was good. Open door policy was followed well, management both high and low were always available for a discussion, and I always felt appreciated, despite my lower status in the organization.

My tasks would vary, and projects sometimes came up that I would not normally have assumed would have fallen into my lap, but it was an opportunity to learn, and the challenges always kept me invested, especially with deadlines, and helped me grow and practice skills I find quite useful now.

I will always look back fondly on my time there, and am forever grateful for the opportunities they gave me as a young man, and the skills and knowledge that I carry with me today in my current endeavours. 

My experience working at CorLiving differs significantly from the negative reviews I have read here.

From day one, I felt supported and encouraged by upper management.  There is a strong emphasis on personal and career growth at CorLiving. 

While the office environment is currently in a COVID setup with dividers, the people working here all took the time to get to know me.   There is a feeling of family here with many employees working here for 20+ years.  

In 2020 a lot of businesses were slow to adapt.  Not CorLiving.  Quick but smart decisions benefited the company and allowed them to adjust to market conditions in 2020.  This approach makes me feel the company will continue to grow and thrive.

Overall I'm thrilled to be part of CorLiving.  I look forward to learning everything I can from my peers and the leadership team.

I really enjoyed my time at CorLiving and thought the working environment gave me purpose and the opportunity to succeed.  I never felt pressure to perform from management because they made me feel inclusive in the daily operations and company goals, that in turn helped me to be self motivated.  I spent over 7 years at CorLiving and in that time I was able to grow into a larger role within the company and help new employees feel part of the team.  If I didn't end up moving out of the Province for personal reasons I'm confident I'd still be working there because it really was more than just a job, it was a family.   

The team at CorLiving is awesome and everyone is treated like family! Flyers/email blasts bring lots of traffic and help drive in customers to keep everyone busy! As well, the hours are super flexible which is awesome for a student! 
It also helps that the store is not commission-based so you don't have to worry about how your sales will reflect your income/relationships with coworkers. It's a very relaxed sales environment!

Worked there for 2 years. Fun place to work. I learned lots about all different kinds of furniture There are some slower periods, but when they have flyers it gets really busy, but well supported by my team. Didn't want to leave there but I needed to focus on criminology.  I am welcomed back when my school work load is not so big.

while I was working there I felt like I wasn't trained properly with dealing with customer's and I think with the lack of training I received that's what led to my termination  at corliving a typical day working would include assisting customers and pulling product for them and finally lots of cleaning
