I was placed here through a well intentioned temp agency as a general production worker. I lasted 4 days including the first day which consisted of a brief and hurried orientation of about 3 hours after which we were thrown directly to the waiting jaws of the wolves on the floor. Lip service is paid to training but in reality there isn't any and there is no patience at all for newbies who don't hit the ground running. It is a hot, fast paced environment and can be labor intensive depending on what you are doing. The company is unionized which means rookies are intensely scrutinized from the get go. From my perspective I saw no one over 50 who was not management. I am 60 and gave it my all to the point of barely being able to climb into my car to drive home after a grueling 12 hour shift. Pay is somewhat decent and you get a 10 minute, 20 minute, 10 minute, 30 minute and 10 minute break in that order over the 12 hours. Shifts are continental but rapid rotation which does not allow time for the body to adjust, especially for an older worker. I don't recommend this job unless you are truly desperate, life is too short.

I worked there for about 5 weeks. It was 12hr shifts that alternated between night shift and day shift every 2 weeks. Fast paced while the machines are running but the machines kept breaking down all the time. When the machines are down they tell you to go sweep the floor... After 5 minutes there would be nothing left to sweep so you'd be left walking around with a broom sweeping literally nothing for hrs. Go and ask your supervisor if there's any work you can be doing and they say to just keep sweeping. 

I was wondering if it was some kind of test or what the heck was going on, feels terrible to be walking around sweeping nothing for hrs. After my 5th week it was time for a 5 day weekend which I was looking forward to until I got a text message saying they didn't need me anymore. Not even a call... a text. I went through a temp agency so there was zero job security. Still have no idea why, idk if the contract was just up and they didn't need anybody at that specific time or if I was fired or something. Zero explanation. 

They are continue to progress, over the two years I have been working  here, the changes are in the right direction.    The company hours is the biggest problem for me  continental shift for maintenance is not a good shift. They change maintenance bosses to often and it hard to get basis parts. I prefer steady days at my age and 40 hours a week. People are great maintenance employee work alot OT, alot of jobs should be two deep and want you to do the job knowing there should be 2 maintenance workers, 1 millwright and 1 electrical  is not enough to tackle the job properly. With out proper management from the top it will be unsafe to do the job right. 2 millwright and 1 electrical per shift is much safer and would be better for the personal. 

worked there for more than 20 years enjoy working there but might leave because they have not been able to give me a correct pay check any time I work over time and in the past they have reconized this and would still not pay they usually fix it but might take several pays by then if you worked over time again they messed it up to again good luck keeping track. when you try to get it fixed by payroll they dont understand the pay rates and give you the third degree and question you like a criminal. wish I could fail at my job this often and not have to worry about my employment

I worked at Horizons in 2014 and it was horrible.  I hated every minute of it.  I never thought I would come back but I did this past summer.  I've just accepted a full time position and couldn't be happier.  My supervisor is really nice, and management seems to care about their employees.  People that have been here for a long time are generally angry and hard to get along with, but's that probably because they expect to do nothing and get away with it.  This is a good place to work, it would be better if some of the people that have been here too long would just leave.

If you like being treated terrible from most of the employees and management, like to act like a robot, get walked all over, not respected, enjoy high school drama, not get recognized for hard work and likely injure yourself then this is the place for you! Employees who are friends with management, don't get on their bad side (make sure you style your hair and dress and breathe how they like) or you'll be kicked to the curb! Hard working employees get fired for no reason and the useless lazy ones stay! But hey, if you have patience for stupidity, no common sense and drama, apply now!!

Most of the employees are nice, there's a few people who seem angry all the time but I've never had a problem with them. My supervisor is nice and easy to get along with. Some of the people take a while to warm up to you but they go through a lot of temps, but if you work hard they'll hire you on. It's a pretty fun work environment although the shifts are long and some of the jobs are really hard.

I would never recommend anyone to work here, the rotating continental shifts along with the never ending 12 hour shifts of pain are definitely NOT worth it. The pay is considerably low for the amount of work you put in a single shift. Management shows little to no care for personal/health issues. Like the title says, only work here as an absolute last resort, not to mention the overall environment is very unfriendly and uncomfortable.

People that complain about working twice as hard while others do nothing did you every consider they have been where you are right now even worse and if there are questions to be asked that you don't know or have the answer to WHO DO YOU GO TO  
" THATS RIGHT THE ONES STANDING AROUND DOING NOTHING" and they always have the answer or show you the right way. Doesn't matter what and employee thinks you are there for 1 thing to work you work for them bottom line if you don't like your line of work nobody's telling you to stay it's your choice to stay or leave.

The list is endless, always chasing them for pay because they consistently mess up your hours. They do not have the tools or materials needed for maintenance tondo there job efficiently. They do not put orders through when you order what is needed, and they question you as to why you ordered it. Little to no guidance and help in here. Ineffective, Condescending and rude management across the company.
