I love working in Customer Services and as a member of the Cross Skilled Contact Centre for nearly 2 years I have a very varied job.

The team are great, we work hard, but there is always a good bit of banter in the quieter times.

Management are excellent, I have been trained up and whenever there are opportunities to progress the management support you all the way.

I love communicating with the public whether that's on the phones, emails or online.  No two days are the same as the calls you get are so varied and the majority of the time the customers are very grateful for your help and guidance.

The work life balance is great and even if you do have a bad call/day the management are always there to support you, as are your colleagues.  You can build up flexi time and buy extra leave if you want too as well.

If you work hard and try your hardest for the public and your colleagues you feel really appreciated.

There are always things going on whether its fancy dress, quizzes or other competitions which keep moral high and everyone feeling part of a positive team.

If you are hard working and want to work as part of a supportive and friendly team, this is the place for you.

Basically you get paid ridiculous amounts of money by claiming to be a tradesman. Left on your own and can fill out your own paperwork and blag it that you worked extremely hard and your standard of work is outstanding value for Cornwall council. I learned how to paint after attending my child’s nursery and realised how easy it was and applied to the council because you get paid for being utterly useless and lazy!!!

A Teaching Assistants work can be very rewarding and certainly varied.  You will never stop learning, whether it be from the children themselves, courses or colleagues as there will always be something new to learn from Safeguarding to Polices and Procedures, bullying to the latest way we must speak to the children!

•	Answering questions relating to customer enquiries across all Council Services.
•	Logging calls and arranging repairs across Council owned properties.
•	Answering and logging calls of a sensitive nature for Social Services.
•	Helping adults with administration of Council Issued forms.
•	Handling Complaints.
•	Taking phone payments.

Working in schools is a very rewarding job however the high stress environment in recent years means it is unsustainable over the long term. Best part of the job is working with children and seeing them develop. Worst part is poor work life balance.

Not great opportunities to exceed the entry salary. Do not get told how to get there or what to do. 
Difficult to speak to managers

The team are amazing very supportive and good fun to work with, secure job and great family benefits.

Managers who have flexi seem to abuse this luxury and are shy to work after 3pm.
My colleagues are all wonderful but underpaid.
The wage bracket between us and ‘them’ (management) isn’t right or fair considering how little they do! (Work shy and lazy) 



Management are not tuned in to what is actually happening on ground.  Poor direction, guidance and support.  A lot of people on high salaries but not doing their jobs properly.  Huge funding issues and money being wasted. 

Nice office friendly staff free parking on site and good opportunity for progression within teams and across the business. Free lunches and nice deli on site easily accessible from surrounding areas cycle to work scheme and discounts locally for staff 

I was left to my own devises and found that working one to one in care with them paying your wages and setting their rota was difficult and lead to some unfortunate circumstances.  It was dealt with by the council once they had been informed of such issues.
