Crave Cupcakes

I worked at Crave Cupcakes for just under 3 months. My time there was amazing, I had fun everyday and you get to eat countless cupcakes! The cupcakes are honestly the best I've ever tasted. I wish my time there wasn't so short- I would likely still be there today if it was up to me- a couple years later.
My hang-up with the company was when they laid me off from my job without telling me why. Since I worked there for just under three months they notified me they didn't have to specify why I lost my job, upon my inquiry. It was a shock to me as it was extremely sudden and I had such a good standing with everyone there as I had personally met the owners too. Because of this I never eat cupcakes from there anymore and I advise my friends and family against it as well. I feel it was very unjust.

Their work environment in the Edmonton branch needs a lot of work. They hire frequently as lots of people come and go. That in itself is a testament to how things are handled there. When employees are under appreciated and treated poorly, they would rather work elsewhere. I was very disappointed at the management and senior co workers during my time there. I was treated poorly, the new and part time employees were often blamed for tardiness etc. However, on one occasion, all 3 on the new employees worked together for the mad rush of 14 feb, we were like a well oiled machine. I never felt appreciated. I was confronted once in a very poor manner and akin to bullying. 

Typical day at work was to come in and start up all machines, get production of cupcakes going for the day. Once done there was cleaning duties and small jobs to finish around the shop. Management was always nice and understanding of personal appointments and tried to work around separate schedules for employees. Co-workers were always kind and great to talk to. Very wonderful atmosphere to be in. Hardest part of job was the ovens cause they were hot but bearable. Most enjoyable part of job was you got to make cupcakes.

It often felt like a really stressful place to work. There was no formal training program, which felt like a real opportunity for the owners/management. Most of the time, it feels like the focus is less on staff and developing culture and more on the bottom line of the business.  If employees were trained better, customers would have a better experience, there would be fewer complaints, and everyone would be happier. 

Management made you feel disposable and disrespected. I worked there for a few years and never really had a sufficient raise as minimum wage was being bumped up. They often give you empty promises of raises and neglect you when you ask about it. 
However, at the time I really loved my coworkers and the job wasn't very difficult so it was okay to work there.

Bad management, as well as toxic work environment. Management doesn't know how to talk to employees in a respectful way when giving feedback, and seem to think talking down or saying rude comments to you is ok to do front of other co workers/ customers. Managers also like to favour longer lasting employees if there’s issues going on. 

A typical day at Crave is a blast! i get to see my very best friends in the whole world and everyone is so friendly! The manager is the kindest woman in the world! I learnt a lot about myself through my experiences at Crave and being able to interact with so many different people on a daily basis!

-open up show by setting up displays, and filling out orders
-when customer come in they expect a lively crave team member to help them pick out their cup cakes
- to closes the shop prepping the left overs for donations  and cleaning the shop

Crave is a great company to work for. The owners are so lovely and truly care about their business and the well-being of all their staff members. Coworkers were always cheerful with positive attitudes. Overall it was a really fun and exciting job.

I worked in the head-office and It was one of the best places that I worked in Canada. They are really kind and try to do their best to help us. It's very nice to work there!
