Crock a Doodle

Genuinely loved this job so so much. I loved seeing all the customers be so creative and so genuinely excited, especially kids for birthday parties. 

It’s upper management and corporate that ruined the whole experience for me. Management is too hands off in some places and too micro-mange-y in others. 

The way the higher ups handled our staff made us all feel very defeated and bitter about the work we were doing. It felt like we were never good enough no matter how many positive reviews or how much returning business we brought in. That on top of the constant passive aggressive comments and drama that came from them. It always felt as though we were being accused of something and that they felt we all had some secret motive to tank the whole company. 

If I could work this job again I would, if management was more willing to treat employees like people and not mindless drones, and have a little trust in the people THEY hired. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Your lucky if you get 4 hours a month. Tips are ‘shared’. But I’ve only ever received one etransfer after woking there for 4-5 months. The owner of the Richmond hill location also doesn’t take taxes off of your paycheck. Like, any taxes. Honestly do not recommend working here.

Customers are super nice though 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No hours. Literally no hours. You’re ‘part-time’ is basically if the owner doesn’t want to work that shift and no one else can cover it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pretty laid back and relaxing, everyone is friendly

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unless it’s super busy-rare, your basically just sitting back watching TikTok’s

The London Franchise is run by one of the most malicious, corrupt, and selfish bosses I've ever had. Expect to be taken advantage of & laws to be broken. Tips are not distributed evenly & fairly, the boss will ask you to come in ALL the time and has refused to give time off for personal events like funerals. The job was enjoyable with the kids, the painting, and the whole idea. But the environment is EXTREMELY toxic &  the franchise's head office will not respond to reports of abusive management & tip stealing.

You can work your butt off one day and have a less busy day the other and they will complain that you're not doing anything, they don't see the work you are doing and the management prefer to sit down all day complaining about themself feeling off but blaming other people if they sit down for a moment to check things on the computer. The work itself is fun, its entertaining to work with people and helping them out creating memories, it can get stressful but I enjoyed that. 

It is a great job that has allowed me to gain experience with an inclusive and engaging staff. I learned a lot about interacting with kids, my peers, and my employers. In this sometimes face-paced environment have been given many opportunities to learn time management, confidence, and to flex my creative muscles.

Crock A Doodle is a very enjoyable place of work with extremely friendly owner/manager. The business takes into account other responsibilities of school and possible other work schedules to ensure you do not have conflicts. Loved the artistic work environment and assisting customers in exploring their creativity.

Crock A Doodle is an unprofessional place to work. Employees were talked about behind their backs and there was absolutely no communication between people at all. There is a lack of effort and respect from management. Schedules didn’t come out until the day before a new week. All cash tips were kept and never given out.

As this was a temp job, until my move there was only a short time to base this review on.
The management was very organized and thoughtful.
Always received my pay on time.

I would have liked to stay on and had an advancement in my position there at Crock a Doodle.

Working at Crock A Doodle was awesome while I was in high school but there is very little loyalty for staff that have been with the company longer than a few years. I loved working with kids and assisting with and encouraging their creations.

Crock A Doodle is such a fun environment to work in. It’s so amazing to see all the finished pieces and enjoy the looks on peoples faces once they’ve received their products. There’s a lot of creativity that happens every single day and it’s an honour to work here.
