Typical day is usually busy. Being in clinical trials includes a variety of work and makes it a fulfilling day.   Must know how to manage time and priorities.
Data locks are demanding and involve deadlines.  Depending on the number of studies, emails are usually a lot and some need urgent attention.  Ethics submissions also have deadlines.  My most enjoyable part was (believe it or not!) answering Data queries and SAE narration and submission to Sponsor and Ethics.

Culture is a friendly atmosphere. Rapport with the Investigator / sub-Investigator is never difficult specially communication through emails

Every department is going to be different but overall it is a positive place to work. If you are AUPE, you can always apply for other AUPE jobs if you're looking for a change. The administrative assistant positions are demanding from my experience, but if you work hard, they can also be rewarding. Most of the secretaries work really well together, with one or two exceptions. The medical oncologists are generally great to work with, with one or two exceptions - the same with the nurses. The culture can be a bit hierarchal but overall it's good. The hardest part of the job is keeping up when you have to cover for other people and do your own job but that is the nature of any position in healthcare. The most enjoyable part by far is the people and friendships you will make if you are open to it.

A typical day at the cross cancer institute requires me to perform inpatient and outpatient specimen collections as well as data entry and phone responsibilities. I have acquired many different skills and abilities that i can transfer to other aspects of my life. The hardest part of my job is seeing my patients walk in and out of the cross cancer everyday and hearing their stories. They are so strong by putting one foot in front of the other by walking into a building most people try to avoid. No one wants to think about cancer but when you have to I am proud to represent the Cross Cancer Institute. The most enjoyble part of my occupation is helping my patients by making them comfortable and talking to them. I don't enjoy hurting/poking my patients with needles but I enjoy the satisfaction when they tell me they didn't feel anything.

I've been employed at the CCI over 10+ years. It was great when still considered part of the Alberta Cancer Board, less so when amalgamated with AHS. Workplace morale is worse, I can count on three fingers the number of times management did a "yearly' evaluation. The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with the patients, the hardest part is dealing with management that does little (or in a position where they can't do anything) about peope who clearly abuse the system (i.e arrive late, leave early, sick days taken without follow-up, etc).

The thing I absolutely enjoy the most about my job is that I feel we are making a difference in peoples lives even though it is through very difficult times. I feel that we all can relate either through a family member or a friend that has been given the scary diagnosis of cancer. Working at a cancer center reminds us how frail we are as humans and how much we all need care and compassion of others. It keeps me humble.

Working in Cross Cancer is enjoyable, meet lots of different people with different nationalities. My co-workers are all very supportive and helpful, they are always there to help thats why I find my days easy. I`d learned how to clean in the proper way, and how enjoyable to worked with other people. The hardest part of the job is when lots of discharge in one day, especially when running of time. The most enjoyable part of the job is serving the patien by cleaning their room and they appreciated it.

Its hard to explain how nice it is to work at CCI.  Overall such a positive place to work.  I enjoy talking to patients and feel that I am helping in my own little way.  I work with great people, positive and supportive

I do enjoy talking with patients and trying to answer their questions or direct them to someone who can.  I like to think that I am very understanding

Unsupportive management and HR. Bullying culture. Unprofessional management, favouritism.

Having to cover for sick calls, listening to gossip all day long.

I enjoyed working at the cross cancer institute in a student internship position. I was able to exercise skills with the freedom to take proactive steps for the company. It was my first dose of "real world" applications for my degree, and the staff treated me with respect and patience, I felt like I fit in.

A typical day at work is very routine and easy to manage once you get a hang of it. Some days are busy especially with full house inpatients. Management is very supportive and organize. Working with my co-workers is fun. We are like one big happy family. They're easy to get along with.
