Us technicians are provided with all the tools, software and hardware nessecary to complete the job.

I was given a brand new work truck, cellphone, uniform and tablet upon hire as well as a new hire orientation like that I knew of all the companies policies and procedures and knew who to go to for what. 

The interview/recruitment process is by far the best I have ever seen and been through with any company with clear, honest answers about the company. They made my interview process comfortable and worthwhile.

The people that work there are nothing short of happy and love their jobs.

One of the few companies left that aren't a revolving door and don't treat their employees like ''just a number''.

As long as we are getting the job done, there is no one on our backs as technicians and the company acknowledges that the technicians are the bread in butter which makes the job a lot easier. 

I have worked for many of the competitors in the past and Crown Lift Trucks Canada definitely blows the rest of the water.

I have been with Crown for over 10 years. I have been in positions from technician supervisor and including management and seen everything they have to offer.  Crown offers advancement for those who want to grow in their career.   Pension and benefits are superior when compared to other dealers.  Great reliable job that you can plan to retire from.  
State of the art shop that is by far the best and cleanest in ontario in the forklift industry, current model service Van's Dealer maintained, stocked with ample crown supplied tooling and diagnostic equipment, office setting is pristine.  Excellent product to work on and lots of support staff that will stand behind you.   If you pride yourself in excellent customer service and appreciate attention to detail Crown is for you.  If you dont believe me stop in to our branch and take a tour to see for yourself.

Upside:Fellow techs, and CSR are great to work with. Training provided informative, and manuals are simple compared to other makes. Get to also see and meet various different sites and people, and pay is descent. Manage your own day, and service truck to take home.

Downside: Complicated data entry processes. Position and job security is highly dependent on Zone/Location your working. Also highly dependent on who your Zone Manager is too. Expected to fill 8 hours a day with a shrinking customer pool do to bad corporate practices, and a non-competitive, service rate compared to their competitors. My service truck wasnt ready for about a month in, and wasnt equipped with the proper safety equipment 2 months in.

Absolutely no complaints in 3 years of service at crown, formerly known as Ryder.
This company respects and appreciates good technicians and positive attitudes. Crown gives you a customer base and you simply take care of those customers. Pretty simple, manage your time and this company will take good care of you. I have not yet witnessed an ounce of micromanagement, and any huge company like crown will have unorganizational issue from time to time, I cant recall a time it hasn't been resolved promptly. All in all, Crown is on it's way to be the top lift truck company and they know it starts with the employees.

Cover ups from the USA & Ontario CROWN upper regional managers! I have never seen in my 30 years of working such corruption from SOME greedy corrupt employees working their own repairs under the table and stealing parts and overcharging clients for repairs not needed and covering up technicians incompetence! Former service supervisor now retired (Thank God) was incompetent and hoarding parts for 30 years leaving a junk years of parts for others to clean up! The previous Windsor regional manager in 2018/19 was great and uncovered several alarming issues that he brought to the attention to upper management and was let go shortly after uncovering all the internal corruption! I hope the new manager now can continue to look after the employees, Good Luck!

No room for advancement! You’re stuck but expected to set goals at review time. There is no leadership or coaching to obtain your goals. Expected to stay after work be flexible without compensation. Micromanagement and company politics at its best! Majority of managers and supervisors have no people or management skills; there is no
accountability! This place is a revolving door unless you’re a lifer which is part of the problem they’re afraid of change. Systems and procedures are from the Stone Age. New processes are met with resistance. In this day and age everything is electronic but things are still done archaically and there is NO option to work from home. Most importantly if you stand up for yourself your labelled as a difficult employee!

Crown Lift Trucks does a great job with many things but there is some room for improvement, just like in any company. Changes are in the pipeline and it's exciting to see what will transpire.

The Great:
- Work/life balance: rarely any overtime 
- Opportunities to move around, people promoted from within
- Very accommodating with familial, car or other health obligations
- Lots to learn and subject matter experts (long tenured employees) available
- Very friendly team and coworkers

Areas of Improvement:
- Dress code: ties
- Technology needs an upgrade (ERP, phone systems, computers)
- Some incentive or bonus program would be nice along with programs/activities to help build morale
- Not having to pay for coffee

If you are looking for a career that offers plenty of challenges and rewards, Crown Lift Trucks is for you!! My time as a Road Technician allowed me to experience many different working environments and see the inner workings of some of the largest distribution centers in Canada. The work is always different from day to day and this keeps it from becoming stale. There is plenty of room for growth within the company for those who are inclined to advance and our in house training department offers all the support you need to keep growing and improving your skills and knowledge. I have never worked for a company that supports their staff on the level that Crown does.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was very militaristic in mentality 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper management and unrealistic expectations. Lack of communication, in fighting and the eternal amount of micro managing 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. People who couldn’t do their jobs kept their jobs. People who excelled but didn’t follow every single rule and procedure but got work done were eliminated. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Extremely stressful. With very little support.

If there is a bus going by you will probably be under it. Just pick a department "Parts" sure but they probably will not be right or enough to complete the job. CSR barking about work orders being open or service calls that your not getting to on time. I use the term fork lift technician loosely. Half have never worked as a mechanic before they took the Crown 2 week DP training course. But the customer is still going full price for someone that shouldn't be working on equipment. Management is a joke, "If Crown didn't teach you then you don't know how to do it". It's very sad really.
