It's embarrassing to work here, I don't know where to start. Toxic work culture makes it a miserable place to be. One boss will insult certain staff for no apparent reason other than to feel important and the other boss while much more covert will say things to undermind you to feel in control. 

Unless you're one of a select few, do not expect a raise. Don't expect this to be a work environment where creativity is fostered because if the idea doesn't come from management, they don't care. The management team can't seem to set aside their pride to let their staff innovate. 

You will  hear about how sales are down and there's no work, but you will always be getting more and more work thrown on to you. To top that off, the owners will use this very excuse to say they can't give raises, but will spend on things that aren't really needed. The equipment needed to be successful at this job such as a proper work phone, laptop, camera equipment and so on has not been purchased in my time with this company. 

Non-billable work is one of the 7 deadly sins in this office. If you're not working on a billable project for 8 out of your 8 hours at work, you will hear about it. Even though non-billable internal work done by their talented staff would probably be the only way for them to salvage this train wreck of a company, it is discouraged. 

Every second of your day is tracked and questioned. There are ridiculous expectations on the length of time it takes to complete a project. They under charge and give too many discounts to clients and then it falls onto the staff who are given an unreasonable amount of time to complete the task. 

Management will gossip about your coworkers with you, and it makes me feel very uncomfortable. 

They say they support local, but won't even support their own staff. 

The coworkers are the only good part about working here. 

Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs unless you enjoy prematurely aging yourself from stress. 

If you are someone that is driven and genuinely wants to learn about marketing & advertising and succeed, this is an amazing place to be. Every day is different and you get the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients from all industries and goals. The hands-on experience gained while working at Csek Creative is paramount and will enable you to learn something new regularly, cultivate new skills and develop your career.

Leadership wants their team to succeed and are very willing to devote time from their busy schedules to provide mentorship, help you find solutions to problems, give advice/coaching, and much more. The key is having a good attitude, integrity, a strong work ethic, caring about your work & clients, and always doing your best. Basically, just be a good person, team player and be dedicated to your own growth and you will have so many opportunities to learn from the CEO, CMO etc. I started as a content strategist straight out of school as a baby with zero experience. Over time I earned the opportunity to transition into an account executive (sales) role. It’s entirely possible to grow within the company, try out new roles and switch into roles that are a good fit for you, work with large accounts and more. 

It can be difficult at first to get into the groove of things with process, deadlines, juggling multiple clients etc. but it just takes time to find what works best for you. The team and leadership will provide support if you ask for it. There are projects, clients and work that you will find challenging, but I consider that a good thing because it's valuable to have chances to expand your knowledge & experience, and even make mistakes and learn from them! 

Not everyone is a good fit for Csek Creative, but if you are, you won’t regret working here! I can say with absolute certainty that I wouldn’t be the person I am today (professionally and personally) without working here. 


When I started working for this company, I saw great opportunity for me to grow, but it was going to require me to water my own garden. 

The management team provides every opportunity for its staff to be successful, as long as they WANT to be successful. 

I am a firm believer that attitude reflects success. With this company, you will be relied upon to create and develop your personal success, it will not be handed to you, but you will have every helping hand along the way and every resource you need. 

What many miss about working here, is the extremely valuable mentorship you will receive from management. 
At times, it can feel like pressure, but the coachable ones will understand that this is what creates greatness in an individual. 
Being held accountable is not overreach by any means, and you will be better for it. 

The things, places and people I have experienced would have never come had I not taken this job and bought into their leadership. 

Great place to work, great people to work for, and great opportunities if you're paying attention and willing to work for the result you expect. 

I joined on with Csek just before they started to expand their brand and company into other business ventures and more areas throughout the province (BC). At first, I really enjoyed the work, management, my co-workers, and everything about Csek. Even our CEO was great to work under and easy to communicate with about any issues or questions. That changed very quickly over a couple of months...

Ever since I joined on with Csek, there has been nothing but a revolving door of new employees. It seemed that most new hires would only last two to three months on average before throwing in the towel (can't blame them). There seems to be a fundamental flaw around management and the direction of where the company is going. Personally speaking, they cannot keep up with the growth of the company. 

One of the main reasons I left was because of an issue I had with one of the VPs and how they went about their business. They would say one thing to you in a meeting or to your face but would act differently towards you and a given situation through email - unprofessional. That was enough for me to throw in the towel and find something better.


Pros: I liked the CEO & fellow staff (for the most part), I enjoyed the work and projects I got to work on.

Cons: An extreme amount of high turnover, Difficult CFO to work under, Poor & unprofessional communication from VPs, Below industry rates (across the board).

Csek Creative has done an amazing job with KelownaNow as their online presence is the best in Kelowna and some of their websites are beautiful and trendy. 
Wouldn't recommend for someone social to work there, unless you are in sales. The work culture is generally get there, do your job quietly without distracting others, eat lunch on your own, and then go home and you are expected to do more than is required.
I wouldn't say their ideas are out of the box or creative but rather on the more conservative side of things.

When I first started working with Csek Creative, I was thrilled. Their office is beautiful, their vision was exciting, I felt as though it was my dream job.    The CEO and CFO are very intelligent, driven, and inspiring, but they struggle with maintaining a healthy enviroment and are exceptionally self-preserving. They micromanage, clock every minute, and struggle with leadership and organization (too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak). I agree with one of the other reviews that they are growing too quickly and struggling to manage. Some employees are visibly treated better than others and they breed a very competitive culture (not the healthy kind). If I am being completely honest, I would describe the enviroment as toxic.

At the end of the day, I think the extremely high turnover of staff they experience speaks volumnes.

I got on with Csek Creative on a contract/part-time basis while I was still in university. At the time, it was a great place to get your foot in the door around getting agency experience and I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately, that didn't last too long... The NowMedia brand has been growing a lot within the last couple of years, which comes with both the good and the bad. 

Before I left, I noticed that there was a lot of turnover amongst the new hired on staff that became an ongoing problem. I decided to leave since I felt like my work or time wasn't being appreciated. I work for another firm and make double the amount I did at Csek, plus, I have more flexibility with my schedule than a typical 8 to 4 job.

Pros: Great for getting firm experience, excellent CEO & CFO

Cons: Low pay, no job flexibility, high turnover

Not a healthy place to work. Expectations are to give up your life and work 24/7 or you "don't care". Pay is low (below minimum wage), no clear job roles or titles, everyone is so overworked and miserable all the time. No managers, no directions. Stress and "911s" all the time. No senior employees, everyone is brand new with no experience and no one to take the time to teach anyone anything. Always in crisis, not a team environment. Everyone constantly throwing each other under the bus. Environment is not welcoming to new employees so most of us leave right away because there is no training to get started.  Get in trouble for working together in boardrooms or talking too long in hallways. 

I originally thought I was so lucky to get the opportunity to work at Cesk Creative until I got to experience the work culture. 

The managers expect an absurd work pace for example a task that is well know to take 30mins they would expect you to have done in 10 - 15 mins and they would bring you in for a meeting to let you know passive aggressively that you needed to start learning on your own time. 

They track every working day down to .1 of an hour or 6mins. They would ask me once a month to take fewer bathroom breaks or get work done quicker or else I wasn't making business sence (threatening to fire me). Worst company I have ever worked at, a waste or 2 years.

Boss will bully you until you quit or you give up your nights and weekends to work extra hard without any rewards. If you have serious mental health issues, please don't try and work for them. The co-workers are amazing, mostly younger crowd 25-35 range is majority. It's a very fun workplace unless the boss is around, no fun allowed. No bonuses, no appreciation, no rewards.. only time you speak to the boss is if he was offended at something you said/did. So only bad & awkward meetings, no "good job" meetings. 

They don't care about you, that's why the turn over is so high. They only care about how big they get as a company. If they treated their employees better they would work harder.
