The owners are the main problem here. 
They break labor laws, and will fire you/ban you from their stores if you call them out on it. 
Unpaid training, long shifts with no relief so you can't take breaks for 8-10 hours, no raises and they will not honor the contract that they hired you on (cutting your hours if full time, etc...) 
They also required the closer to do so alone, which meant there was one lone female worker until 11pm, in an area of the city that was completely desolate. There was more than one occasion where the workers felt as if someone may be casing the store out for god knows what, since they were the only thing open past like 9pm in the area. There was also no emergency button (they had one, but the line was cut and it was thrown in the back of the register.)

They don't quite understand advertising and what effect a lack of it may have on a brick and mortar store. 
They would regularly accuse their employees of running off customers, and yell at them for low sales; even though there was about 10 customers that would come in over the span of an entire day and the store was in the middle of nowhere. They weren't satisfied unless your sales matched their big flagship store, which is established and is close to civilization (you know, where people are...). You could have a conversion rate of over 90% for the day and they wouldn't care, they would cut your hours and eventually push you out if they some how convinced themselves their store must be failing because of you. This pretty much happened to each sales associate that worked at the store I was in, they eventually started replacing everyone with people from other stores, and surprise, it didn't get any busier. 
The male owner watches the cameras from his office (creepy) and will call you every time someone comes in to ask what they want. Even if the customer is literally still in the store and you're in the middle of helping them. 
They're incredibly disorganized and will blame their staff for their own mistakes, there's a reason why most of their staff don't last more than a few months at most. 

It's actually a shame, they had a decently nice store (the one I was in, not all of them were nice though). There was so much potential, but the owners don't care. They would probably be better off just running their online store and their flagship warehouse store, and getting rid of everything else.

The company itself isn't bad in the slightest; however, despite my best efforts, I was not respected during my shift in store. Customers were crude and directed many of their comments directly at me and what they assumed was happening in my personal life. I was made to feel uncomfortable and utterly disgusting by the customers, not a single ounce of respect was given. Regardless of where you work, there should be mutual respect towards the employees. 

Despite that awful experience when I told the boss that I couldn't come back to work there, the boss was very understanding and wished me well. 

BUT, when I asked for my paycheck for the shift I did work, they refused to give it to me claiming that it was a training shift and I was not going to be paid. Along with refusing to pay me, they won't return my calls or messages to communicate and understand why I'm not getting paid. Not only did I waste an entire day working a shift, but I also lost hours at my second job to accommodate their scheduling. 

 According to Ontario's ESA laws, that's illegal and just downright unfair. Overall, I'm disappointed that it came down to a situation where my time was wasted, and hope people will learn from my misfortunes when considering to apply to a job with this company. 

(In regards to scheduling, I was not asked my availability and was just given shifts I could not work due to other commitments. There was also no formal interview.)

My experience working at Cupid Boutique left much to be desired. Owners and management highly undervalue employees, do not take safety concerns seriously, and in some cases, leave their employees to work in subpar conditions, for example, expecting employees to work without a working washroom. Poor leadership from management, as it’s more of a “do as I say, not as I do” management style. Be prepared to work in a “big brother” environment, as you will be monitored during your shifts through various cameras that are installed throughout the store. If you have a fun and outgoing personality, a great seller, don’t mind being micromanaged with high levels of surveillance, and acknowledge there will be no opportunity for growth and no benefits, this might be the opportunity for you. Commission can be somewhat rewarding if you do well enough - this will of course depend on whether or not  adequate hours are offered.  Open mind is needed and do not expect to be appreciated. 

I worked at Cupid Boutique for about 9 months until I found a full time job elsewhere. The hours given weren't enough to live on (8-12/wk). The owners & managers watch the cameras from their homes like Big Bother and the assistant manager is not helpful when an employee feels uncomfortable with certain people in the store and tries to justify their behaviour. Something else I found out after quitting is that management does not allow former employees to shop at the store they quit from even though it was to better themselves. I would not recommend applying at this chain, especially the store I was at.

If your comfortable with the adult industry and terminology and giving some personal information to upsell products and being asked inappropriate questions from customers and have a quick with and work hard for commission then you should consider working here. Female owner will train and male owner will help but their suspicion is always on high alert but the staff discount is nice with a xmas bonus. It's always good to give honest product details as customers will always return to tell staff they lied so try not to embellish

Interesting place to work. Interesting people that came in there.  Interesting products that we sold!  
I found it a good learning experience and I was happy to help People with a most intimate topic. 
Problems with management and colleagues. The owner didn’t take enough taxes off paycheques which causes problems at tax time. Even when you try to talk to him he just says “why pay the government more than you need to?”  I’m sure he was fudging the books. 
Management that he hired caused the whole store staff to leave. 

They never said there’s a shelter behind the store, so you get a lot of drug addicts stealing. The owner and GM allow store managers to be rude and disrespectful to their own employees, they take away your commissions, and your security isn’t their priority at all. If something gets stolen, they charge you - which isn’t fair when you have  drug addicts who possibly might have weapons. Only one person works at a time

This company has the potential to be amazing however the owners/operators do not value their employees nor do they pay well or provide enough room for any advancement as all higher positions are held by family members and or close friends of the owners. Although given the title of management they do not provide the space for one to manage efficiently according to their experience within their own location.

A typical day at Cupid could be fast or could be slow.
Working there taught me to be more on time and how to deal with different people. Management was good but the communication could of been better and the organization of things. There were no hard parts of the job for me other then learning the system of how things where run. Overall it was one of my best jobs and I would work there again
