I was working as a Sales Assistant in Currys which is part of Dixons Retail Group. My job was to sell computers and laptops to the customers by demonstrating them the new technologies and their use.I used to cater to different customers everyday and tailor the product package according to their needs. It was a target- driven role and I always used to achieve my sales targets and help my team mates.
I learned a lot from this job. It was my first job in London and I learned about the work culture. I learned how to effectively and efficiently work in a team and make friends with people. I used to meet different people everyday and I became more confident by approaching and talking to strangers. I became more proactive in helping people and started relationship- building with the customers so that they come back again and again to our store. I also learned about different processes and how to handle B2B customers so as to assist my managers. 
My management team was very supportive and well- organised. When, I first joined the team it was hard for me to learn about laptops as I never had so much information about them. But, my managers trained me for the first week and with my quick- learning abilities I became one of the top sales person in three weeks time. They always used to appreciate our work and help us in handling difficult customer issues.
My colleagues were the essential part of my work, I used to make sure to greet each one of them whenever I was in store. I used to help them and they used to help me. We had a very fun-loving, enthusiastic and healthy atmosphere at our workplace. We also used to go out for Christmas party,and bowling.
I enjoyed every day over there and the most enjoyable part was that I used to enjoy my work. I used to get fair salary and great benefits.

Good place to be around technology but extremely stressful with the amount of sales targets with very little commission. Commission is only 1 pound for every 1,000 pound in sales. There is about 8 target add-ons for selling a single laptop which makes it extremely difficult to hit all targets especially in a world were many shoppers do research online. For this reason, the management encourages preying on old people which I found very immoral. You could sell hundreds of thousands worth of devices with attachments but they only care if you sell the attachments they want you to sell, for example, you could sell a laptop with an external monitor, mouse, keyboard, cables and software but the management will be mad at you for not selling Microsoft Office even though the customer didn't need it. And there is a target for their own cloud storage plus Microsoft Office so when I said that Office includes more than enough cloud storage for 99.9% of consumers, the manager told me not to tell customers about that and sell both. They also tell you you can't sell insurance or take peoples email but they give you targets on them, it's quite unbelievable. Horrible experience.

after christmas it was really busy and a customer came in to ask for a refund on one of his item, we had a note that refunds will be given in month of january but tat customer wanted there and then. i saw a co-worker struggling to communicate the message so i jumped in n assured the customer that it will be refunded to him asap but with a large volume of customers buying its not possible to do at that time. he had my assurance and decided o be back in January.
Customer care skills is very IMPORTANT this is what i learned long back n helped him.
management and co-workers should have a good communication and a positive mind set on shop floor
without a good team management nothing can be done productively.
hardest part is to see the team divided in groups but with motivation and communication its possible to bring the same environment back.
greeting and providing customers the best available solution which they are looking for in store and are satisfied.

would get into work 15min early sunday for meerting would get my weekly goal. i learned alot of new skills working in such a busy enviroment.management was amazing they would put presure on you but in all the good ways to help you achive goal when they days were not so busy.my co-workers were very good and compettive which made working alot better and fun.i didnt have a difficult experiance in this company which i can share. everything was enjoyable i loved to get up in the morning to come to work.

Don't bother, managers don't care and will force you to try make sales you're not comfortable with forcing unnecessary products on customers to try reach their own personal targets. The pay is above average for retail but not worth the headache as the staff turnover is high for a reason. Management other then TWO were all useless and have no business being there other then to cause stress and issues for the staff.

having been with the company for 8 years i find that the environment is ever changing and even in a specialist or sales role you can pick up all aspects of the business

Great management team. Good environment to work in flexible hours. Commission not always paid and dedcucted for minor errors besides that a good place to work

A place where you are treated in accordance to how you treat other . I learnt alot while working here and they gave my a disire to learn more about phones to better myself

Great place to learn the basics. Great energy from some of the bosses and most were understanding. Was interesting being sent to Birmingham for the training though.
