Cutting Edge Landscaping

I worked there for approx half a year. I enjoyed working on my own at my own pace for decent hourly wage. 

A day would be showing up early in the morning, do my pre trips, find out where I was headed in the truckers meeting, go to sights, hook up to hydrants to fill my truck, water everything they requested, head to the other sights to repeat the process, head back to the shop, gas up the truck, sign out, and bail.

I learned a lot about Edmonton's layout, about plants, driving and maintaining my truck, be more patient than those generally around you. 

The hardest part of the job was actually the co workers and management. The inner circle politics created a lot of unnecessary friction between groups. Folks would be agreeable to your face but everyone was always criticizing everyone else for slacking or just outright failing at their job. I could work from early morning until late afternoon without stopping once, but if someone saw me stop for a drink of water and a sandwich, I was reported for slacking for hours. Beyond the childish "he said/ she said" games, the management is incredibly immature.

The best part of the job was that once you left the shop, you were your own boss and supervisor. You knew what you had to do and didn't need anybody breathing down your neck telling you to do it. You just went out, did your job, came back, and went home. 

All in all, good for a summer job. Make your friends, keep to yourself, make your money, go home, and you should be A O K

doing wheelies of rock at first cause its so heavy but once you get in shape its easy, the workplace culture is great glad i got this job i hope to keep landscaping in the near future!

The company took pride in providing all the crews with the newest and most up to date trucks and pieces of equipment. Long hours were expected but overall good environment and long paid lunch breaks
