Management is horrible, very cliquish company overall! Everyone gossips and constantly causes disruptions throughout all of the departments. There is no clear understanding of what the majority of the positions are there to do. People are treated unfairly if they aren't a part of the clique. Some great staff but some toxic ones that definetly wreck working here for a lot of us. Certain management is worse then others departments you work in. No job security. No growth is available at this place either. As a former employee stated that favoritism is shown to their favorite staffs and clients. There are very few support for staffs. If you are like as a staff/client, a you are protected in every way. Supervisors do not show good role model skills, they do wrong and get away with it. This agency is quick to blame and point fingers at others. Gossip is real! From every location to the head office!! Beware! Management/supervisors and their assistants say alot of things but when it comes to execute what is stated it doesn't happen. This company hide behind it's name as the name is recognized but isn't as great as everyone thinks. Clients are not being supported on ways that they should and are held down. Bad management and leadership. Management always looking and watching for employees fault and mistakes. There benefits are terrible and so is there wages. They are very cheap and your hard work is not acknowledged. The children deserve better as well. 

I have read some of the reviews and will say that they are completely false.  Obviously the poorly rated reviews are from staff that have been let go for not abiding by policies and procedures that are in place to ensure the client's care, welfare, safety and security.  

This agency is very highly regarded by the local Children Aid Society as well as the Ministry and other agencies that place children in the care of DLC.  Staff are well paid and get small increases every year as well as bonus's at Christmas.  There are typically 2 parties a year.  Once for Christmas where staff get award, gifts and bonuses and one in June where people who have worked for 5, 10, 15 etc years of employment are celebrated.  

D.L.C. is  an agency that places the clients needs as a top priority. Clients are given opportunities to be in the community often, they can participate in sports, programs, camps that they have interest in.  They also go out into the community often to local parks, or attractions like Wonderland, Aquarium, Zoo etc (all prior to Covid restrictions)  Staff receive training in many area but here is a list of a few, medications pouring and administration, CPI, first Aid and CPI, WHMIS, Fire Procedures etc.  Highly recommend working here 




Let me first address some of the reviews already on here about DLC Residential services. You are working in a fast paced group home environment, of course it will be stressful. When you choose to go into the Child and Youth work(CYW) field, you enter the industry knowing that the clients you work with may become verbally and physically aggressive. Being a CYW, it is your responsibility to know the various techniques to deal with such behaviors. DLC also trains you and provides you with ample opportunity to learn these techniques as well as opportunities to improve yourself as an individual. If you lack the skills to manage stressful situations then being a CYW may not be the career for you.

I've worked here for many years and every day I feel appreciated as an employee and know that if anything were to happen at work, DLC has my back. You get to work with clients with a variety of physical and mental disabilities and having the opportunity to make a difference in their lives is something not many people get to experience. With regards to pay, DLC is one of the highest paying residential treatment homes around. You are rewarded for all your hard work and not many places in these field can say that about their company.

Hey I’ve worked here for a while now and the one thing I can say is there biggest downfall is their commitment to staff. They will move you around and keep your work with the children inconsistent and you hardly make any change here for the children. We are expected to ONLY make the clients comfortable and as youth workers we should take the responsibility of helping these individuals grow into independent living but all I have seen in my time here are staff doing everything for the children and if they make a complaint about you they will move you into a different house so they don’t have to deal with what’s going on even if the complaints are unwarranted they are usually not investigated and staff will just be removed so you HAVE to do everything the child says or if they complain say goodbye to where you were because they don’t care if you were committed there and actively making positive change. I would not recommend working here long term. 

D.L.C. Residential Services is an amazing employer. They provide cohesive training and set you up for success. Management has an open door policy and are always willing to hear out any concerns you may have. Everyone works on a level playing field and work together as a team. The children who reside at D.L.C. are provided with the utmost care, respect, and dignity. All locations are well maintained.

The children are the main focus and all staff work from a strength based approach. The children are provided with a variety of opportunities, cottaging, fun and active community outings to promote social interaction(s) and to help build upon their life skills. 

The best part of the job is to see the smiles on all the children's faces. 

I couldn't ask to work for a better company! You're treated as if you were family. 

This company is built on lies, false promises, toxicity, lack of respect towards the employees.. especially to those who have served long years of service. For someone who has been with the company for a long time, management and owner do not value their staff but treat them poorly. Management always thinks and sees themselves to be right and gets defensive when you give criticism. They’re fake and two faced, they don’t care about the people who do the work.. which are the staff on the floor taking care of the kids. Management is lazy, relies on staff to do their job but doesn’t give credibility towards the staff. Management bullies you into getting what they want.


DLC does cares about our clients and the kids are happy!

It can be a “toxic” work culture however managers will address the issue and/or move staff to a new location where they’d most likely “not act up.”

Great entry position for new CYW. You will learn quickly as our clientele really require you to be on your feet most of the shift. Most of us are in the process of getting second degrees or masters while working here.

The pay sucks. But you do get pay bumps after being cleared on things. There are xmas bonuses too.

All staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to autism!

If you’re full time, the shifts do rotate by week and it takes some getting used to. If you’re part time, the hours are good.

You’ll be CPI trained.

You’ll fall in love with the kids!




Fast paced environment focused on providing a home environment with the support of a team approach.  The kids are the priority here - their closets are full, they have toys and play structures and go on regular outings! The staff and management work with the families and placing agencies to ensure their needs are attended to.  Ample training is provided, and honestly, you never stop learning - the kids will keep you on top of your toes. Management is supportive and has an open door policy. 

Its very stressful place to work at the staff act like a gangs they want you out the supervisors are very unprofessional and has no experience anything you tell them they use it against you the staff gossip A lot and they cover for each other ,  very hard to get inside their bubble they tread kids very poorly . No wonder the company got 2 stars its actually a lot for them they should  get zero . Don’t work there find somewhere else or stay home but definitely not DLC and if you are a parent don’t sent your child there planning to quit soon cant take it anymore , they make me sick .

Feel bad for the kids who are under their care. Its a bunch of kids taking care of kids in some of their locations especially the one on the very east end of Scarborough. Staff plan the day as per their like,they don't consider the kids. Beware, if you give a feedback it will reflect negatively on your Performance evaluation. Supervisor is never interested to know whats going on the floor. If you are just looking for a job, then this may be the place but if you care for kids then don't even bother applying at this place.
