I worked at the Resin plant as a shift Millwright. Was hired with the expectation of big things happening in an expanding plant. The reality was far from the expectation. The plant is tiny and put together with poorly made brand new equipment that is highly prone to failure. 

The people that I worked with there are all a great group. The management was heavily overworked which made it hard for them to deal with the day to day operations of the plant. The expectation was that as the shift mechanic you would also learn to run all the equipment to be able to cover the line during production breaks. 

DSI Underground Canada like the several Multinationals i know and worked with is equally doing well,the work environment,the safety measures and awareness,the several tool box talks on Mondays,the information and publicity is on point. The work culture is strictly business with target to meet for every worker at every point in time,i don't know much amount the management but i know definitely they are the one been reflected at the lower work level,the coordinators and supervisors are great,approachable and always ready to attend to you and to instruct you on what to do and what is expected of you.The company is structured in such  a way that every one is productively busy.
I feel a better pay is all that is needed to keep quality hands.

Production numbers and expectation's are a little too optimistic considering the age of their machinery. 
Hot and dusty and dirty environment. Plant manager had a vision but it isnt a practical one. Focus should be on production and weaknesses in the production crew. Not security cameras and offices to better oversee workers. 
HR is very kind but you get the feeling when being onboarded you are just a temporary hire and should not expect to have a career. 
I didnt last but i feel i was not fully aware of the expectations of my role and took poor advice. 
Money is good. Bonuses are excellent.

Not impressed with this company. Quite a bit of shaky deals in the background..  this is to protect our Miners, we shouldn't be sending out BELOW code product. Absolutely no Accountability through out the ranks here. Such a shame at one point I was proud to be a DSI Employee, I wish I could still say the same.

I've been with DSI Underground for almost a year and I would have to say that it's a great place to work. If one is considering working here, a good consistent work ethic is your best asset. Get the job, come in everyday, pull your weight..and you should do just fine. There's always work, and people are great. Also if you don't mind the occasional shift rotation...

if there were a lower tier for management it would be that. The people in itself are very good and great to work with. The in office management is very bad with unreal expectations. The on floor management is somewhat better depends really on which one you get the three i had 2 of em were Very bad and kept blaming me for the very old machine that I work on.

DSI is a good place to work, there is respect amongst employees for each other 
Safety is massive thing, culture which they’re building is amazing there is clear transparency and as a worker we feel safe and consulted every moment 
Coffee and donut on Friday is a good perk and management team is well connected 

There is a strong disconnect between planning and production and between management and workers. Downsizing has promoted a culture of downloading responsibilities onto the floor staff without proper compensation.

No job security! They wouldnt know how to run a company if they were reading it from a how to manual. Worked for Mansour Mining until DSI bought them out. 3 months later they closed up shop and are moving it Sturgeon Falls. This is the second time they've done this in Sudbury. They closed the Lively plant a few years back as well.

Working at DSI was an awesome experience in my opinion. Supervisors and managers are cool and friendly. Graveyard shift I’d say is probably the best shift. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because machines keep having issues which affects overall productivity and can get stressful at times.
