A typical day at work consists of being early for “Saftey Meetings” working in a warm/hot location. Hourly rotation, 2 breaks(10m) & 1 lunch(20m) (all paid) and minimal communication. 
I learned a lot about vehicle’s and Manufacturing. It was an overall great experience. Management seems great at the start, but slowly fades away as you work there longer. They go from being welcoming and polite, to rude and “annoyed”. There is no interview, just an Orientation. The orientation is great, slide show, lots of breaks, etc. 
the workers are either great and friendly, or completely rude and arrogant. There is no in between. 
I thoroughly enjoyed the job, and the line, but unfortunately the Management / H&S lacked largely. 
During factory work you are doing the same movement for a period of time. Therefor there are some physical changes that will come whilst working there. 
If you get hurt and need : a longer break/support/ etc. you will NOT find it. They seem to care about the company and not the workers. Which unfortunately leaves them short staffed. 

Weekends are stated to be “optional” but it is mandatory that you work 2 days a month in overtime. If you do not volunteer, you are Mandated. 

Overall, great environment. Horrible support from management. 


A typical day at work is looking up your pre-made schedule by the managers, then getting to your job. For example, putting together a part of a cooler to be put through a furnace so it can be melded together. I learned the automotive industry's manufacturing system and how I can be a part in it. The management was also good, and taught me my job patiently. When they didn't know what to do or were busy with other things, they directed me to someone who could teach me. The workplace culture was very blue collar with lots of hardworking and honest people who would lend you a hand when you were in need. The hardest part of the job was learning how to do everything at the start with the knowledge that I was slowing the whole process down so that they could teach me. The most enjoyable part of the job was the people I worked with and how easy the job got when I knew what to do.

The job itself is easy to get and not difficult even for people with special needs. However the management here is so lack luster it becomes a place of high school politics over which shift is better. There is no communication between shifts and no discussion among management over what things to do. Nightshift blames afternoon shift for anything that's wrong. Afternoon blames day shift for anything that's wrong. Day shift blames night shift for anything that's wrong. I've been laid off twice in the span of about a year and half because no one at management knows how to actually pace themselves and ask for 110% at all times. Overall it's a decent place to work if you wanna put your head down and do your job in a unionized factory. Not any room for advancement 

At first I thought it was a great place to work. Was a temp for 39 days then hired on by the company for a 180 probation period
- 2 days before getting into the union was let go ... HR stated was let go based on communication and not a fit for the team. Decision is based on peers, team leads and production supervisor. 
- often mandated to work every weekend
- I worked with a great group of people on my shift
- shift exchanges you are bumped from your work station so 5 am people can take over it
- in 6 months, employees had to do  shift preferences as the shifts changed twice

When I first started there I was a temp during the Covid times I got hired on two weeks after on afternoons I love the atmosphere management was pretty chill they offer gatorade or ice cream during the hot days I was having the time of my life after leaving my other job that I worked out for two years. 

 They want you to be unionized in six months rather than three months which is a huge red flag but after working for months there I get terminated for no reason. If you are to work at Dana I would highly recommend you work the midnight shift and stay the afternoons

Personally I enjoyed close to 8 years working at Dana. I was in the top 10 employees for the most overtime worked. Was let go because I was 1 point over on the absenteeism policy after working 2800+ hours in the previous 12 months. The Union and the company. Let's just say there might as well be no union. Management make changes to the rules and policies whenever they want and the union chairperson sits back and does nothing. The best way to make time at Dana enjoyable is to work the off shift. 

Nothing that was promised in the interview actually happened. Management and leadership were abysmal. Gained almost zero skills or knowledge. Never know who you can trust or rely on. Revolving door of good people who just couldn't stand it, just like me. If not for the short term relationships made with people like me who ultimately left for greener pastures, I'd have nothing positive to say about Dana. Just a toxic workplace with awful management, benefits and work environment. 

Mississauga facility used to be a very productive, fun place to work. The assembly jobs were fast paced, but with experience and good team workers, it was fairly easy. We had great benefits, good pay, seniority, etc. Overtime was voluntary and for most part it was 3 shifts. Our facilty was shut down in 2009 and most were layed off. Our CAW union local 1285 set up a training program alongside Ontario Colleges to help some members retrain or upgrade schooling. It was a shame the place closed but some people did get hired at Cambridge facilty or Oakville facility.

A typical day involves operating equipment and ensuring quality standards. I've learned attention to detail, teamwork, and adaptability are key. Management is approachable and supportive, fostering a collaborative, safety-focused culture. The hardest part is staying focused on repetitive tasks. The most enjoyable part is seeing the end product and knowing I contributed 😊.

There was no best part 
Co workers are friendly.  Lack of support and understanding from management..Lack of empathy from supervisor especially people with Color.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job isnt stressful, but working where you ain’t valued and you feel you don’t belong because you’re a colour race is the most stressful part

The work environment is ok because the do workers are friendly
