Enjoyed working here, but had to leave because of moving away from Edmonton. Company was a bit of a train reck, but was recently taken over  by some new owners and have got much better. Work life balance has gotten much better, and the potential to make some good money if you're willing to work for it. 
Before ownership changed it was getting really tiring picking up the slack for other people looking for a free ride, this has changed with new ownership. It was good to see people who didnt want to put in the time let go, it instantly made things better for everyone else.
its a pretty fast paced job, but has a good group of people that are always willing to help.

The old Derrick disposal was a great place to work. UNTIL integrity solutions bought out the company. They took OT away into a system that doesn't follow any legislative. Their bin rate is the lowest out of the whole city and the company is super cheap to save money under the drivers expense . The new management is known for the under pay employees to onder cut the competition. It's a very stressful place to work because the management / owners doesn't have any answers to any of your questions. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. There is a reason for all the drivers from the old Derrick quiting on the new management.

management can do as many mistakes as the want without consequences ,you as a driver,the first mistake get you a suspension,the second one you are out

Great co-workers and management - have been some recent and positive changes. Lots of opportunity to advance skills and move within divisions. Solid customer base means job stability and long term employment. I started in the yard with no experience and now a drive a septic truck with my own route. No micromanagement - just get the job done safely.

Worked there for over a year and was laid off even though newer & less experienced employees stayed on. Absolutely no job security, awful management.. avoid this place at all costs, toxic environment with lots of favouritism towards certain employees.

Poor management is unfortunately a severe understatement for this company. They will run you ragged until you've given you what they want and then dump ya.  If you are from the LGBT community...do not work here.  If you are an attractive man or woman..prepare to be harassed.
They pay well...but remember it comes with a price.

My start pay was 21.00 a hr. Supplied everything you need for winter days. Delivered and cleaned out portable restrooms. Great benefits and opportunity to move up.

Positive culture that rewards you for hard work. I love my job. The mechanics do a great job of keeping the truck fixed. Dispatch gives me enough work each day. And the owners wife billing’s in cookies (not often enough!)
