Went in for an interview, she seemed so nice and guarenteed me 40 hours a week. I was, at the time, working somewhere else but she insisted I put my 2 weeks notice in and work for her so I did! The job sounded great! Enough hours to pay my bills, and she told me during the winter I would have enough hours to pull EI. Everything was fine until the 3rd day, the training wasn't even training, the lady training me didn't give me any advice on what to do and would just come behind me and re make the bed or clean the bathroom, I wasn't learning anything. I asked for a trainer that would teach me how to do my job properly and she put me off for 5 days while everyone else was working. I almost was not able to pay my rent because of this. She then had me doing a number of insignificant tasks (after I was finally scheduled in for a shift) while I was suppose to be learning the job I applied for. After 2 weeks of this I went and asked her if I was getting a new trainer and when I would be able to start doing the job I applied for, she made a bunch of obvious nonsense excuses and sent me off with the lady that cleans the hotels lobby, bathrooms etc. 3 hours later I was called into her office where she told me I was not a good fit for the job and that I was fired! (Knowing full well I had no other source of income because I left my other job for her) Afterward I found out that a guy from my orientation group had to leave because they worked him so hard he developed problems in his heart and chest. And another girl from my group left because they had her working 60 plus hours a week and was calling her in on all her days off, she was only a young girl with a little 4 year old too. Needless to say I give this place 1 star, if I could give 0 I would because no one deserves to be treated like that in a work environment.

Working here was an absolute nightmare. TERRIBLE management, NO breaks, and barely any training. They’re too cheap to put more than one person at the front desk, so good luck trying to eat or go to the bathroom throughout your 8 hour shift. Even with 50+ arrivals you work alone with no one to help you; even when the line starts coming out of the door. I very rarely got a break, even when calling the manager and requesting the break i’m supposed to get, he would say he’s coming to cover me and would never show up. Had to pay for parking which was $50 a month (part time) or $100 (full time) just  so i can drive to work and there’s no other choice considering my co-worker got his car smashed when he parked it on the street. Steer clear of this place. The pay is nice but it is not worth it. The downtown location has so many homeless people. I was scared to be near the door when I had night shifts. Even when requesting to just do morning shifts I was always put on nights. Was so bad that even the maintenance workers/Housekeepers started complaining to the manager about letting a girl work alone at night in such a terrible area. TERRIBLE. horrid. never ever again.

What is the best part of working at the company?
dysfunctional workplace, managers are manipulative, mentally draining, and manipulating. YOU WILL be discriminated against if you're a woman.  Simply the company can let you go for whatever reason if you don't fancy the higher-ups. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management will make it super hard for you to climb rank for many discriminatory reasons, and managers with severe mental issues love starting workplace drama for the fun of it.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
dysfunctional, stressful, co-workers get along better with no management around as they start drama and cause unnecessary  mental damage on the lower ranking employees. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Prepping food, managing events and banquet halls, feeding the refugees residing in the hotel.

This particular Doubletree would be so much greater if the management was replaced.  From the General manager who is just HORRIBLE, down to replacing ALL management in seperate departments especially the kitchen.  From the "Executive Chef" being just down right disgusting to the cooks and management under him, seeing staff get fired due to lies from your own management team was just disgusting. Reporting what you see, because that was the right thing to do, and being reprimanded for it. Please find employment elsewhere that will appreciate you and your time. Find a place where the core values set forth by a company are actually shown and implemented. J.W MARRIOTT SAID IT BEST, "TAKE CARE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES AND YOUR EMPLOYEES WILL TAKE CARE OF THE GUESTS!" THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE HILTON WAY BUT AT THIS PARTICULAR HILTON, STAFF ARE DEFINITELY NOT TAKEN CARE OF NOR APPRECIATED!

Hilton is good .nothing wrong with the brand. Or doubletree.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?

Unrealistic expectations for employees  …and limited support. Everyone is “new” and things get overlooked. Role expectations were constantly changing/ unclear and too much time spent cleaning up previous staffs mess/mistakes…. No support. 
 If you are not at the top of the management hierarchy..(it won’t matter how hard you work) you are expendable.

Transient..staff constantly changing.
 Hard to say that there is ANY Culture.
Management  phoney. Told you are in a team environment but there is limited support. 
Stressful work environment trying to learn and fix mistakes of previous staff.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very long. No flow.

Not hours in off . After you training you can’t have sufficient hours and they send you home for months .
Maybe they called you only in emergency moments. 
Is not a consistent place to work ! (Housekeeping department).
Rushed all the times and you have to do a heavy work in your 8 hours shift .
Runner , displays in 17th floors sheets and towels, take garbages each floor, clean lobby, attend calls from guest, supervisor, room attendants, security’s at the same time, delivery to the guest requested, stripped beds, remove coffee cars each floor 17th, waters on the floors etc etc 
Is a over responsibilities in 8 hour shift.
Plus you are not sure with the full cover hours in the shift!!
You can be at home months waiting for get any hour !

People at night audit are  treat you bad doesnt have moral composition to work with, they yell at you throw things at you, i
you might think they are your real friends instead they are your enemies stab you behind your back 
they laid me off saying that i was not meeting their standard, 
is stead taking off for family emergency after i came back from  my own dad who was bleeding out at the hospital next day they told me to come early and they canned me. 
this are the worst people to work with at the front desk wit
 got canned after 9 months gave it my all still nothing of they will deny everything blame people life little people trying to serve in toronto

Overall a fun place to work. You meet a ton of awesome people, with Good pay and great benefits. You learn to work with many cultural background and to effectively communicate . Restaurant management could use some more training to create an efficient and supportive team environment. Hardest part of the job is being pulled in a million directions, as this position requires you to run room service and food to Escape Manor, while serving tables in the restaurant. Management having too high of expectations. Most enjoyable part is the cultural melting pot work environment among employees.

i have learned a lot with organizing and keeping up with speed keeping myself inline. 
the management is great very understanding and really good to get along with.
we are to attend  the morning meeting everyday then make sure we have what we need for our carts, and then get on the floors and have each room done within 30 mins.
the hardest part of the job is keeping up with the time frame and having everything completed and cleaned in the rooms.
i am a very social butterfly so i just love talking to people and helping people. i love being able to clean rooms getting more experience cleaning which never hurts to learn more of.

The other staff that works there, not the managers, but the other employees.

Getting happy and satisfied customers/guests.

Terrible. Emotionally draining, abusive, and manipulative. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressing out, being told everything you do isn't good enough, working you overtime hours and getting upset with you when you try to leave early on slow days to make up for your overtime hours because you don't get paid ovetime.
