The management of different departments hate each other it’s no secret. As a labourer at times it feels like being the neglected child in a bad divorce. While your personal well-being does seem to be of some importance you can’t help but feel like it doesn’t scale high on that list.

The main drive of most subordinates seems to be that of fear of being thrown under the bus by another department, rather than displaying quality workmanship. Drewlo holdings consists of 3 companies, Drewlo + riverside forming + ironstone. Project managers are typically more concerned in finding faults in the work of other departments to hold as leverage in future feuds than they are supporting their own staff at completing quality work in organized and efficient manner. Work safety practice is a weapon to be used in these battles rather than a tool to be utilized for employee safety. Tomato/tomato I guess. It was not all bad however, there is plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities, granted for very little extra pay. Drewlo seems to hire mostly new immigrants with no high school education, which could be applauded until you realize that is the demographic most easily taken advantage of and used for cheap labour. 

Crew leads are expected to transport staff from home to work and back again on their own time with no compensation, take on all the typical responsibility of safe work practices training new staff and meeting deadlines, but again with little to no extra compensation. Management does not consider taking on all these extra responsibilities and risk worthy of much extra compensation and you will be manipulated into agreeing with that if you start showing signs of self worth. Don’t forget to sign your annual reviews and accept their chump change raise because if not you will be laid off come Monday because there is no room for negotiation it seems. You are replaceable.

 All things considered quality of work is not that important at Drewlo, you can do well if you put your head down and show up everyday but ambitious individuals may get bored here. There is some element of camaraderie and if you land in a solid crew it can be an enjoyable place collect a paycheque.

A typical day for us starts at 5:30am, starting with daily cleaning, checking building systems, covering sister building and/or pool if on the schedule. Also seasonal snow shovelling if needed. 
Along with all the skills we’ve already acquired, working with Drewlo has given us the ability to polish those skills and personal growth. 
I find the staff hard working people dedicated to their positions. Some with more experience and others just starting out. The maintenance team that you have access to have an amazing 2 managers who make it look easy. 
Workplace culture is healthy. Great coworkers to work with and to learn from. 
Hardest part of the job is keeping your eye on the prize, stay focused regardless of what’s going on around you. 
The most enjoyable part for us is learning, enjoying the tenants, we have seen a lot of employees get advancements whether it’s a building manager becoming a property manager, a paralegal becoming the head of their department, building managers retire and receive great severance packages. 
I could go on and on about advancements but the one most important thing is the owner is very generous. We’ve received unexpected bonuses through covid, nice bonus at Christmas which is always greatly appreciated. 
We now have  in 5 years at Drewlo received fifty 5 star reviews and I contribute that to the way we do it and the support we have been given. 


When you show up to work, you are tasked with unnecessary and not thought out tasks. For example; going through every room in an 18 floor building picking out nails in the frame for some reason that isn't explained to you. You are constantly expected to just do incredible amounts of work when you don't have the tools or even the materials needed and spend an hour searching for it. Everyone in the building disliked the company, and disliked the management. Every week the CEO would show up. But only to check on the speed of the building. Not if the workers have the materials they need. Keep in mind the CEO has about 5 other building all across southern ontario being built at the same time.

Working for Drewlo Holdings at the Iron Horse Towers was very enjoyable. My husband and I were there for 8 years. Every day was a new adventure. Dealing with several different people and try to make sure that all issues were dealt with in a timely manner, and keeping all common areas of the building clean. Drewlo is a very fair company to work for. Our boss was very good to us.He was always willing to listen to us and give his advice on dealing with different situations. Learned to be time efficient. Worked with many different cultures being a large apartment building. The hardest part of the job was cleaning some of the units to get ready for new tenants. The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction and report I had with the tenants and meeting new people and showing them our beautiful building.

The work environment here is very challenging due to unrealistic expectations from leadership. Management tends to dismiss employee concerns, making it difficult to feel supported in the role. The pay does not reflect the level of stress involved, and benefits are minimal.

Workers are often required to take on additional hours with little notice, including mandatory weekends in some cases. Communication from management is inconsistent, and employees are not always given the chance to provide input or be heard.

If you’re looking for long-term stability and support, it may be worth exploring companies with stronger worker protections.

Sometimes you'll show up and no one will be at the shop - you'll text and call for an hour only to find out work is cancelled today so you drove in for no reason. Similar weather the next day, so you call to see if there's work today - no answer, no call back. Eventually you just never hear another word from anyone, and you get your final cheque in the mail. Poor team management and communication.

They will have you cleaning future building sites of debris, but will also have you picking up natural compost such as roadkill...like really guys? Do that REALLY need to be picked up and disposed of?

Being a responsible employee, bldg.superintendent/ bldg mgr. eliminates any stress about meeting expectations. Custodial duties are very important 
and equals the proper and accurate completion of documents, and minor maintenance duties.
Working well with our property mgr and maintenance personnel eliviates any negativity of our surroundings and promotes healthy working relationships and less micro managing.
The key to having rapport with the tenants is sorting any maintenance issues as quickly as possible, and promoting customer service at all times.

I would recommend working at Drewlo Holdings to anyone. They are by far the best company I have worked for in a very long time. They treat their employees very well and are very appreciative of the work they do. If you do not have experience they will take the time to teach and train you and help you grow within the company. Also, the tennets of the buildings show great appreciation for the work you do and are constantly saying thank you and show great appreciation for the work that is being done. This is a great bonus. Overall Drewlo Holdings is a great company to work for and a great place to learn new skills and grow . 


Horrible property management!!  Talked behind everyone’s back.  Never got any training just learn as you go and then get insulted when doing things wrong.  This job was under appreciated and they treat you like low life underpaid employee who needs a place to live.  You are payed as a couple but when broken down individually it’s 15000/year or less for each of you.  This does not include your on call hours.   Extra hourly wage is $9!  It’s insulting to ask us to work for $9/hour my kids make more then that.   Horrible experience!!  Great tenets though!  I will miss them.  

Work your butt of for the probation period, then relax, you job is safe! No one gets fired for not doing their job, property managers just give all the extra work to the managers in your sister building. That's how they operate. They don't care if one couple in sister buildings are overworked and stressed to the max while the other couple does relatively nothing, as long as the work gets done. Dedicated employees are taken advantage of.
If you're lazy or just don't want to work much, apply here! If, on the other hand, you are looking to work for a company that appreciates hard work and dedication, stay away!
