I have worked at this company since 2016 and can say that this organization is fantastic. From the top down we have a strategic, engaged, and passionate leadership group who I am fortunate to interact with. They are constantly looking ahead at how we can improve and be better every single day. Managers and team leads who are obsessed with our customers and put immense passion and dedication towards making sure things get done on time and complete. Incredible team members who are hardworking, fun, solution-driven and collaborative to work with. Production workers who are genuine, caring and work incredibly hard everyday in our manufacturing facility to ensure product is manufactured to the highest quality standards. Overall, the people in the company are fantastic. 

The core values of Ownership, Caring, Driver, Innovative and Individual set the tone for the expectations and culture at our company. We are a fast moving organization in a complex industry with many extreme variables that may arise at anytime. It takes incredible bench strength to be able to grow in this industry and working with team members who embody these core values is what allows us to grow and maintain accolades like being one of Canadas Best Managed Companies. 

Personally, I have been able to grow into my current role and I have seen the journey of numerous other team members who have also grown throughout their careers at Durabuilt. 

If you are looking for a challenging, stimulating, and exciting work place where you can grow and add value then I would highly recommend applying. 

Like any company - there are areas that Durabuilt can improve, whether it be sales process, quality, safety, logistics, workflows etc. The difference is that Durabuilt finds those gaps and works to improve them, that is what differentiates the company. I am passionate about this company, and this is a genuine unsolicited review of my experience over the past six years! 



I worked at this company in a maintenance role and unfortunately had a consistently frustrating experience due to several ongoing issues.

There is a clear divide between the maintenance team and the machining department, with a culture that often feels political and unprofessional. Instead of collaboration, there is frequent tension, lack of respect, and poor communication between departments, which makes problem-solving more difficult than it needs to be.

The condition and organization of the maintenance room and parts inventory are below standard. This leads to inefficiencies, wasted time, and added frustration when trying to complete tasks properly.

Safety is another major concern. There are hazardous working conditions, including exposure to materials like fiberglass, without what I would consider adequate safeguards or emphasis on proper procedures. This creates an environment where employees may feel at risk.

There also appears to be a pattern of prioritizing quick, inexpensive fixes over proper, long-term solutions. This results in recurring issues and unnecessary downtime, rather than addressing root causes effectively.

One of the most difficult aspects of the role was the lack of support from management. Instead of hands-on guidance or training, employees are often left to troubleshoot issues themselves, frequently relying on phone calls with machine manufacturers rather than internal leadership. This can be especially challenging for newer team members trying to learn.

Overall, this workplace may offer opportunities to learn independently, but those looking for strong leadership, a safe environment, and a collaborative culture may find it lacking.

I worked at Durabuilt on the sales team. The day to day structure of my job life was fast-paced with lots to do. One thing that sets Durabuilt apart is the management team; personally as a salesman who had a rough start to my job I had the full support of the management team who provided hands-on learning and guided me to help get the results I wanted. I was given many opportunities to connect with clients and work with some of the larger builders in Edmonton which was a unique experience talking to larger businesses. From my time at Durabuilt I had the chance to interact with senior management and occasionally the owners through meetings and charity events held by the business. From my experience here the management really wants you to succeed and the people are very friendly and easy to communicate with and as an added bonus you get plenty of time off and the work-life balance is amazing here. The management team was very quick to respond with Covid-19 measures and you could really see how upper management valued the health of their employees with their quick response and flexibility in working from home There are Lots of opportunities here for those who are trying to advance in their career and the team is really willing to help if you make your goals known. Overall experience was great, Durabuilt has left a long-lasting impression on what a Canadian best-managed company is.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There was no good about it the upper management doesn’t care about its employees controls by fear of losing you job. In the 4 years that I worked there they were late paying payroll 5 times. Have no respect for the labour laws they make there in rules. Would not recommend anyone to work here it will age you with stress and is hard on family life working under those conditions 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The expectations of upper management is unrealistic and if you complain you run the risk of being fired. One bad day will wash out a month of good days. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This place is very toxic and will burn you out before you know it 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up early to load your product for the day and hope you can get it all done. No going home till work is done regardless of labour laws

Worst company I have ever worked for. They dont care about your training, nor do they care about the employees in general. I went to HR with several concerns i had within the company, such as people stealing time, management being racist, and co-workers not helping me out at all. the only thing the HR guy said to me was "do you wanna work here? If so, you work, if not, you can leave right now" he didnt even try to get to the root of the problems, just completely disregarded what i had said, and told me to leave his office, luckily, when i complained to his boss, he was fired. but it just goes to show what kind of company Durabuilt is. Hiring such trash into a position where you are supposed to be helping resolve problems, not just sweeping them under the rug. Any form of management that i had actually interacted with, was completely undertrained, and very unprofessional.
Worst job ive ever had, and will probably ever have.

In service the work and pay is decent. Concerns are never addressed and just swept away. Productivity is pushed but suggestions on being more efficient at all levels are ignored.
Too many managers who want to quiet concerns instead of fix issues
There are a couple managers who are amazing and respectful and try help but get overpowered/overruled by negative ones at times. 
Time off for appointments or person item that need to be done is very difficult to get.
I was hired to cover areas from red deer County up to southern Edmonton  but spent 3 days a week. 3-6 weeks in a row going north of Edmonton when told it would be once or twice a month when the other techs needed a break or help when hired. 
Work life balance is not a thing. 

 

I love my job and have been at Durabuilt for 6 years! I genuinely enjoy the work I do and the people I get to work with, my efforts make an impact and that is something that matters to me. If you are looking for growth and a high paced environment, I would HIGHLY recommend applying for a position. Our core values are innovative, ownership, individual, caring, and driver - if you align with these, then you will love working here! The manufacturing industry is really interesting and there is a role for anyone whether it is sales, engineering, accounting, marketing, labour, service etc! 

Durabuilt Windows and Doors has provided me with excellent experience over the last 6 years. I run an engineering department of four employees and we are known to be the most diverse and friendly department. We are high in demand by all departments and rarely do we turn a department away when they ask for help. Our Department has an open door policy where anyone can come and ask questions. We are the research and development department, way I see it, if we don't know the answer, we are the department responsible of finding out the answer or at least who they should ask for assistance. Management recently began to trust departmental managers and micro-managing is now down to a minimal level. I learned a lot working here - I developed some of my best Management and multi-tasking skills working here.
