Loved working with the students....watching them grow....best experience ever....however, working for a company that does not pay for your time marking papers, extracurricular activities,  research, etc etc (they only pay for the 4 hours that you are there instructing the class)...I found this rather disheartening and unappreciated.   

They insist that you, the instructor, market the company (isn't that what the admin staff is for,, I thought instructors were there to instruct)  and attend events (unpaid again).  I really don't mind doing something like this once in a while, but it gets a bit much when it's on a continuous basis.  

The manager (campus director) is arrogant, and I find very untruthful.  She treats the staff like they are minions.  Does not ask for something to be done but instead orders things to be done.  This does not make a happy work environment at all which in turn affects the students.

I applied for a position at Eastern College and went through three rounds of interviews. Unfortunately, the process was poorly managed. One interview was cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled, while another started significantly later than scheduled.

Despite completing the interviews, I never received any follow-up regarding the outcome of the position. I reached out twice via email to inquire but received no response. This lack of communication was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. It also makes me question the organization’s internal communication and respect for candidates’ time and effort. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Eastern College as a workplace.

Inclusiveness! Accessibility!  Everyone is friendly and have the same goal of helping students.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I wouldn't say stressful just more an adaptiveness to new students needs.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Inclusiveness and being adaptable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Pretty routine, I work remotely so communication with students, giving lectures and accessing work needed.

Overall, this is not a great place to work. There is no consistency and due to Eastern college being a branch of TriOs, there is a lot of hoops to jump through for the proper information. Things are contradicting between the companies. You also do not get any benefits and your job is dependent on if enough students sign up for said course. Some staff are amazing and there for any questions but overall it's just very unorganized 

Remunerated very poorly versus education requirements and time commitments. High student to instructor ratio. Student's fees extravagant for the earned certificate and impending career salary henceforth. Felt like shareholders were earning an extravagant salary on my back...I was not earning what I was worth. Would not recommend this college. Instructor turnover high. Many instructors had second jobs to make ends meet...that should never be necessary.

I enjoy the modular system, four hour classroom units. Management is supportive and encouraging. I have worked with several staff members for many years. Relationships with students is the most enjoyable part of teaching.

Programs are not well put together. Teachers may have very little experience, possibly none in the field they are teaching. Most do not even have the credentials for the subjects that they are instructing.  This makes it very difficult as students can also see this and you have to cover it up. The company is not willing to do the proper on boarding most employees are thrown in.

This job was based around retention of students and unsupportive personally.  The students basically were directly involved with getting rid of teachers they didn't like or found too difficult.  It's a private company so I suppose they can do what they want.  It just didn't in any way line up with my personal values.

The job consisted of instructing students using a module program from SAIT.I learned how to speak in public and think on my feet.Management was enthusiastic,co-workers were supportive.The hardest part was starting up the program after it was shelved for 2 years.Teaching and accomplishing the re-start was very enjoyable.

If you need something, have an issue, want to propose a change, advocate for your working environment, want to apply for a different job within the company, etc, it seems like you will be ignored or patronized. The environment is sales orientated and not focused on putting out a quality education.
