ELEMENT TECHNICAL SERVICES

A typical day at work starts at 4 a.m. An hour drive to go to various job sites. once there i done all required ppe then attend a safety meeting where various discussions and points of safety are brought to light.  
I have learned a great deal of things from this job such as:
-Honing my teamwork and independent skill sets
-Being able to work in all extreme work conditions.  This job is primarily done outside with temperatures ranging from 38 degrees celsius to minus 40 degrees celsius.
-The ability to communicate effectively to multiple parties in conjunction with keeping written and electronic copies of work related data.  
-Through this job i have improved upon my organizational and work preparedness skills.

My co-workers and upper management team are of the highest caliber giving support when necessary.

The hardest part about this job is performing under extreme conditions, pressure and long hours away from home in remote locations

The most enjoyable part of this job is the comradery between the different crews and fellow quality control fluid specialists.

I moved from the cementing side of O&G to Element and wish I had done so sooner. The company always has lots of work for you to do, with lots of flexibility with your schedule and hours. There is a tremendous amount of OT for hourly maintenance staff. 

This company is different than other frac companies with more freedom/autonomy but comes with some very demanding hitches for field maintenance. Element buys all their equipment used, so there is a huge opportunity to learn a wide range of frac and coil equipment. 

Although I have never met upper management, they seem to be doing a great job building the business and seem to think like savvy investors. They try to retain high-quality employees even through tough times. I think this is a good company to work for if you want lots of hours and good paychecks. However, there is not a lot of room to grow your career here with no performance reviews or direction of any possible promotions. Overall they have been a fair company to work for that respects their maintenance staff.

they will be your best friend when its busy beg you to work extra, no incentive for not going home in coil other then be thankful you are working. managers dont miss days off.

when its not busy they wont call you to see if you're alive unless they need something. They say shop hours are available during road ban, this is a lie, you will get a few hours if you are on the "select" crews. If not expect less then a week during road ban with a manager asking if you are done yet every 3 hours.

They expect you to quit your life at the drop of a hat and not complain, yet management doesn't miss a heartbeat of time off. If you don't play ball dont expect too get called to work.

If you are within 200km of carlyle , they will make you drive back and forth each day without sub or a company vehicle. You will pay your own fuel at 8 hours at 24 an hour, do the math if you do not own a car.

I do not recommend working here, new people are grinded out, the older staff get first dibs in work, and schedule, if you even get one..

When I started at Element, the organization was still fairly young with only Frac operations in Carlyle and Offices in Calgary. I was situated in the Calgary office with, at the time a team of three (finance). The CFO, along with the Controller could not have done a better job maintaining a healthy team environment while expanding to a team (when I left) of between 10 and 15. Retention is great with many, many long term employees. Even through some tough Economic times, organizational growing pains and a pandemic it was a great company to work for that looks after its employees. 

I have since moved on (out of the industry) but Element really provided a good foundation for me to move ahead in my career. I learned a lot from my peers and superiors and I wish the organization nothing but good things. 

The job required testing of chemicals, gels, water and various other things before and during a hydraulic fracturing job. Traveling all over the province alone at all hours of the day was common, working in all weather and climbing water towers. The work was fine but the 2 week on 1 week off was a bit taxing at times with a family. Management was friendly and did their best but communication sometimes was not clear until the last minute (site locations etc.) but that is also part of the nature of the job and cannot be helped. Overall, it was a stimulating job and a great experience.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Used to be good. Went downhill. Used to care about employees 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The equipment breakdowns, lack of work and hours. Been paycuts. Always being told its gonna get better and more work, yet every year it dies down faster. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Used to be a good group of people. Management keeps quiet and doesn't tell the truth. Definitely ask you to do some really sketchy stuff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Different everyday. Nothing set in stone.

Not sure about this place anymore people in positions that should not be there and making weird decisions. If you love the fly in fly out cutter  by overrun East coaster this is for you.
I like how they also decide who gets paid what unless your a friend or know someone you will be taken care of. Someone who has various oilfield experiences including well service(8+ years)  offered a op 1 position  that is a awesome slap in the face at $29 an hour please get with the times guys no wonder you have fly in fly out program because you have no one.
Stay away from this place 

10 year employee and have nothing but good things to say about working here.  It can get a bit hectic at times but they go way beyond expectations for keeping all the guys happy (employee lunches, company parties, swag, golf passes, event tickets). Ops Management is always accessible and receptive to ideas and suggestions. 
Can be a bit disorganized sometimes (fairly common in this industry)..  Hard work is always rewarded.. Family orientated culture throughout the company

Awesome group of people to work with. Only complaint would be the pay periods being 2 weeks behind so it might be a full month before receiving your 1st full paycheck. Paydays are on the 15th & last day of the month which is inconvenient along with vacation pay being paid out every cheque. Other than that it's a great place to work. Small, congested shop & a lack of employee/ visitor parking though.

The company definitely needs a management reboot in areas. Promises of wage increases, more jobs coming up are made in public but the day never comes. Lowest structure for pay I have seen in my time in frac. The coworkers are the only reason it becomes bearable. Would not recommend if you are willing to get ahead financially.
