Typically, the Addiction Support Worker walks the path of personal development with the clients through wilderness activities and facilitation of individualized treatment plans. 
The days are long, as staff live on-site at a remote camp setting for 4-7 days per shift. 
Management seeks to find staff who are "on their own journey" and willing to work in "the grey" vs. black and white. Power struggles with clients are minimized by the voluntary nature of clients' admission into program.
The staff at our program are world-class, with backgrounds ranging from high-level wilderness guides to yoga instructors.
The hardest part of the job are the long hours away from home.  The most enjoyable part is being part of the clients' journey of transformation.

My experience at Enviros Summit was absolutely horrible. The work environment is toxic, and the staff there only add to the negative atmosphere. The lady in charge was completely unprofessional and had no regard for creating a healthy, supportive workplace. Instead, she fostered a culture of blame, making staff responsible for every issue, even when the problem clearly stemmed from their own mismanagement.

There’s no consistency or structure, and they lack any proper workplace boundaries. It’s clear that the leadership is disorganized, which makes the entire environment chaotic and exhausting. Working here will drain your soul in every possible way.

If you’re considering employment at Enviros Summit, I would strongly advise against it. This place will blame you for their unmanageable practices and burn you out without a second thought.

 

I came into this position with an opportunity to create a supportive role in their FASD clinic. I was fully supported by the team, supervisor and manager included. I was offered ample training and opportunities for both professional and personal growth and development. The work we did was fulfilling and meaningful. I was very sad to leave and would have stayed much longer if I could.

Immidiate management can be great.
High stress job as all support work can be.  Don't get rid of staff they should, but seem to fire staff to cover their own butts. Too much importance on politics with upper management. Lower management usually great. 
Not competitive with salary at all. There have been staff working for several years without a deserved raise.
Should try and be what their website says they are.

It is going to be a positive review. Just after the interview, I felt it was where I wanted to work. But it was based on the first impression that often can be deceptive — fortunately, not this time. The onboarding period went smoothly. Everyone on the team supported and helped, allowing me to perform my tasks calmly and confidently. The team itself is nice and friendly. Later on, it became the place I go inspired in the morning and the place I leave satisfied in the evening.
Pros - good management and wonderful team
Cons - I would say I want a bit of renovation for the office. 


I love this job because I can use all of my skill set (social work, technology, cooking, networking, advocating etc) and management appreciates me for it!!! Yes group care is a stressful job, but good coworkers and management make it a fun atmosphere.

After a year working for this company I decided to quit, the management is horrendous, no accountability,  no real leadership, false hopes about a raise that never came, I saw many of my coworkers being fired after only one strike (over the most stupid things) the most impacted are the children that can not build  meaningful relationships because of poor management, because management don’t like other staff input or questioning , they fire you. 

Directors that have been with the company for too many years and can not let employees do their own position.  A lot of bullying of their staff and a CEO that is very weak and can not stand up to the proper principles and guidelines.  The CEO also gets bullied from certain Directors.  A very sad and stressful environment to work within.

Enviros is a great place to work. The work is challenging but incredibly meaningful. It feels amazing to make a difference in someone’s life. The people at Enviros truly care and are very passionate about the work. 

I very much enjoyed working at Enviros, the culture is caring and helpful to new employees. There seems to be a real value on everyone, no matter what level you are at. I think the only thing is it can take awhile to get things done or implemented at Enviros because there are a lot of meetings around decision making and more focus on inclusion so patience is required. But it's lovely overall.
