My experience at EPLS as Business Intelligence Analyst has been invaluable with a significant impact on me both personally and professionally. As a newcomer and international student, EPLS has been a perfect environment to grow and adapt to the Canadian best practices and work culture.

One of the best parts of the position is the opportunity to work with a talented and supportive team. Additionally, this role allowed me to solve critical real-world scenarios, optimize processes and define KPIs to measure the results. This has helped me to develop my analytical and problem-solving skills.

The managers and decision-takers are involved in the projects and team efforts, sharing their expertise and providing guidance in case of need. They facilitate our work, allocating resources and proposing training to boost our skills. Also, they understand the importance of open-honest communication, resulting in a safe environment to collaborate and debate.

EPLS has grown substantially over the years, expanding to three different locations and increasing its number of employees and services. This transformation has affected all their business areas. Due to this fast-paced growth, the challenging parts of the position are the steep learning curve associated with the constantly evolving business processes and assembling them into a big picture to optimize global results.


I was an Intern at EPLS Group of Companies in their Winnipeg office working in the Finance Department during the Summer. A typical day consisted of completing database entries of invoices and other accounting related tasks. I learned a lot from, and about the company during my internship. The work they do in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut as well as some real world Accounting experience that I wanted to experience in a work setting. The management is super friendly and my Manager in Finance was especially helpful and always welcomed questions or concerns. The workplace culture was fantastic, they treat everyone like family and was was always kind and willing to help. I made some good "work" friends that eventually became good friends outside of the workplace. The hardest part of my job was getting over the learning curve of the softwares they used and certain tasks that need to be done during Fiscal Month End or Year End. The most enjoyable part of the job was the people and the fun events that they would plan every month to treat everyone!

I am pleased to share my experience after almost 7 months working with Epls group of companies . It has been an enriching and professionally rewarding journey. The company fosters a positive and inclusive work environment, encouraging employees to grow both personally and professionally. The management is very supportive, open to innovation, and consistently encourages collaboration among teams. Additionally, the company offers ample learning opportunities, enabling employees to enhance their skills.

This place honestly seemed like a great opportunity, until It turned into a real mess, the office was great alot of great people and I honestly thought this was it, the best it can get Management in the store i was sent to was trash, no knowledge on how to deal with his employees and how to manage his own problems ALOT OF MICROMANAGING, and that wasn’t even a month of me working there. After awhile it got better and then boom just fired for no reason no explanation just wasn’t the right fit. I was ESCORTED to my apartment and was stuck there until i could go back to my home city and wouldn’t even send me to where i had to go was basically just thrown out no notice I had to leave everything behind and they had no empathy . They tried replacing me before i even got to the store i was sent to literally had a job opening for my exact job and when i spoke up about it was "professionally" told it was none of my business . I really had high hopes for this place its a shame they cant deal with the issues they have and instead take it out on their employees 

I’ve had an exceptional experience working at EPLS. From day one, the team has been welcoming and supportive, creating a positive and collaborative work environment.

Management genuinely cares about employees’ growth and well-being, offering opportunities for professional development and a healthy work-life balance. The company fosters a culture of innovation, where ideas are valued, and efforts are recognized.

The work can be challenging and rewarding, with plenty of room to grow and make an impact. I did receive a promotion in my first year which I am quite grateful for.

EPLS is a terrible place to work. They offer no work place balance. Store level management are over worked and grossly under paid. No clear direction from the office. Constant battle between store staff and Winnipeg. Was told I wasn’t allowed days off because the store was more important. They use and abuse anyone hired from the south and don’t treat people with respect. They speak ill of the local hires behind their back all the time as if Inuit are lazy and stupid. Would not recommend this company to anyone. The staff working in the Winnipeg office clearly think they are smarter than everyone else. If you have any other options choose other options always. Extremely disappointed in this company.

EPLS is a great company to work with!  What started as a family company clearly blossemed into a respectable business throughout the north - which kept their family oriented values!!  The EPLS team are all wonderful people - management are great to deal with and working and helping the community in itself is very rewarding!  EPLS makes the transition to the North as easy as they possibly can.  I would highly recommend EPLS to anyone who is looking for a fulfilling career with great benefits and the ability to advance through the company.  The choices and possibilities are endless!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Alot of team work, and all the employes are great. And the mangers are awesome making sure everyone of their employees are ohk. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing was stressful when i was working there back in 2017, because we were family at that work place.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Beautiful, it was amazing.. i cant complain because there is nothing to conplain about working there as a cashier. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
No typical day there at the company, as long as i made hours to feed my mother i was fine

When I started working here there was a distinct family feel to the group. It was hard work, but it was rewarding because of the leadership, the coworkers, and the purpose of serving communities in the north.

With the introduction of new leadership, it quickly took on more of a corporate vibe. By that I mean, the company had it's targets, and you were just a resource to be used to achieve them. There was little recognition for accomplishments, and lots of blame and shame when mistakes were made.

EPLS still has a good purpose in providing for Inuit communities, but the leadership in charge leaves a lot to be desired in how they work with their staff.

This workplace was one of the most disappointing professional experiences I’ve had. My skills and potential were not valued, and the environment was built on micromanagement, humiliation, and a complete lack of support. Instead of proper training or clear procedures, employees are blamed publicly and treated with disrespect. HR contributes to the toxic culture rather than helping resolve issues.
