ERIE ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS

Most of the employees in the office and the plant are friendly and hardworking people who are enjoyable to work with. With the exception of the dictator and the cowardly management team. Most of the work in the office and plant seems interesting at first, but quickly becomes monotonous. When given new tasks, there is very little training provided, making it feel as though one has been thrown to the wolves. Employees of most departments are also expected to work long hours, not allowing for much of a work-life balance. These reasons and more result in an extremely high turnover rate. 

The senior management team is composed of a very "diverse" group of white mid-aged men who all seem to lack backbones. Employees are given positive reviews and told they are going to be given more responsibility and advancement, yet are let go when they provide any sort of honest feedback to management. A certain member of middle management is very ignorant and actually quite racist. Unfortunately, this individual seems to rule the roost and dictate the actions of the senior management team. If you don't agree with this person, you won't last long. To be successful at Erie, you must either be a family member, or close friend of the owners, or very submissive to the orders of the dictator. Not an easy feat for most! Being Christian and Caucasian also works to one's benefit. 

If the power was taken away from the dictator, and the management team actually cared about employee feedback, Erie could be a great place to work. Diversity would go a long way here as well.

First thing about this place is poor management. From they day I was hire to the day I left, not a signal manager introduced themselves and explain who they were. They lack on communicating with new employees and make them feel less of a person. Just giving stares and looks with attitude. Senoir workers are just as rude when is comes to training new employees, they try to avoid training. For example on a saturday eveyone was suppose to help finishers and I've talked to 3 co-workers about helping them out and to learn more on the job. Their response  was "no offense but i dont need help", 20 mins later I see 2 co-workers(friends) helping him out. Next co-worker ran away when a supervisor wanted just to place new hires to help out the finishers. There's a chain of neck breathing, where the boss breathes down the manager's neck, down to supervisor, to employees, to new hires. Employers do pick and choose their favourites and choose to communicate with them as well as when it comes to giving promotions and raises. From the time I've been there i learned they don't fire employees, they make them quit by feeling unwanted and not worth anything to the company. Cons list can go on.

The pros of working here was the pay with good over-time. Some employees were great to get along and work with, free coffee with occasional food.

- Lack of diversity in supervisory and management rolls
- Very high turnover rate - results in poor quality of drawings 
- Management is tall white men 
- Don't even attempt to negotiate salary, certainly not vacation time
- Work environment is stressful 
- Overtime is expected. Lots of it. 
- Raises and promotions will be promised months in advance - with minimal action 
- Rolls and responsibilities will change, but job title and pay will stay the same
- This company is far behind modern times

Advice to management would be to stop being scared to promote women to upper management. Listen to your employees, respect their wishes, and show some urgency when it comes to keeping good hard working individuals within the company. 

The grass is certainly greener on the other side.

Worked here for quite a few years. While any and every work environment has its ups and downs, EAP is overall not a bad place to be. Owners are great, most management are pretty understanding and caring. Most senior employees are great teachers (mind you it takes years to fully grasp the reasons for all applications, practices and procedures). The only downside is HR to be honest. Not very caring or understanding. Im sure its complicated and frustrating job to have but i have to say  i disagree with some of their tactics and approaches. Dishonesty and callousness are not practices that build trust. This being said though, as long as you are aware that your there to do a job, show up, listen and try to learn, you will have little if any issues and a very fair wage. A positive can do attitude works wonders and is noticed at EAP.

Having been working here for 5 years, I've watched Erie get bought out by YKK. After which many of the benefits, and incentives they offered were thrown out. I.e: they used to pay its employees good money if they could quit smoking for 3 mths, however YKK scrapped that incentive. 
YKK has changed Erie's policies to the point that even people without qualifications or experiance can get promotions before those that are qualified, based on popularity. the hardest part of my job is getting the same pay as someone with less knowledge, and experiance. 


Some good management,  some bad ones. Same Goes for the  fellow employees,  some life long friends, a few bent on making everyday miserable. Work is repetitive,  mundane.  The projects you get to be a apart of are pretty cool but the daily work you do doesn't really reflect the finished project.  Pay structure is based on a tiered pay system that creates jealousy and competitive natures between employees as opposed to a cooperative work environment.  

Erie plays favourites big time and doesn’t take responsibility for their own actions that have negative consequences for their employees. I was well liked in my position, and I loved my job (I would have stayed forever). Until there was a small incident that could have been have been prevented had Erie given me all the tools to properly do my job, and then let go without cause as they didn’t even follow their own policy in the hand book. 

I worked here for a few months because it was decent pay for general labour. You have to be prepared for some strong personalities but most people were fun to work with. Don't try to innovate here; they like everything done their way. They also fire Temps without cause pretty regularly. Don't leave your stuff anywhere, it will get stolen faster than you can blink. 

I spent several years employed at Erie Architectural Products and it was the best employment experience of my life. The atmosphere was friendly, both professional yet casual. 

I loved the variety of tasks assigned to me. Management was very approachable and easy to communicate with when you had any problems. 

I eventually left due to changing careers, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Erie.

Great environment. Friendly people both in the shop and office. 
Management is very kind compared to other companies I have worked at. If you work hard and show dedication and commitment to the company their is room for advancement.
