Where do I begin? In many year's working in the hospitality industry working in a hotel any hotel, inn, or anywhere else is like going back to elementary school. The uniforms guideline's are not followed. Staff do not wear proper black stock, or no stockings at all. I have seen staff wear winter book to VIP functions nothing was done about it at all. Men would not be clean shaven. The phrase "Oh it's not my job!" was often said. There were two sets of rules: one for staff member's that they liked & another set for staff that they did like. Shift's what little there were. No shift's in January, one shift on Valentine's say. Senior staff only given a single shift in three month's, & for the busy wedding season, 2 or 3 if you were luck. No overtime is ever allowed. Favouritism like crazy. Then when you complain they terminate you. Or they take you off the schedule. Health & Safety issue's at concert's floor's were so wet. Hardly no one would bother to mop up the floor either for staff or for the guest's. Why would they because again: "It's not my job I'm not a House Keeper!" Staff would even bother to take a shower before coming to work from being in school for eight hrs, or from playing sport's just sweaty & smelling from body oder. Alway's saying no to the guest's. Special request's were not handled properly. There was always time to yell & scream at staff though. Outburst's were common place. ID was not ever followed. Line up for service were up to an hr long? Why because the Staff were on their cell phones receiving text message, Facebook, doing their make up or their hair. One hr waiting to be served ice warm product then u would ask for a refund which was never done. Finally the staff had to have their cell phones in their locker's but that took over 30 yrs to do! Unreal place horrible horrible work environment. Low hourly wage, low gratuity's, no hours! Welcome to the hospitality industry!

Everyone here is quite welcoming but you'll find even with the older crowd of bartenders you'll still feel as though you're in high school and dealing with cliques. With the recent changes they have made for shifts, it'll be rare to get any as a newbie as they prioritize the more senior staff allowing them to pick and choose the shifts they want rather than 'first come, first serve' as they originally had it when I first started working there. 

Seeing as the bars aren't built into the event rooms like at any regular bar you are made to haul them from the basement (Sometimes you'll get lucky if it's a large hall as they typically have a room off to the side where they store the counters and bars.) which is frustrating after a long shift when you're both mentally and psychically exhausted. If you're used to having porters you probably won't enjoy this too much as you'll be the one stocking, cleaning, and tearing down your bar.

 The Bar Managers tend to sit in the back and talk, eat, and hang out while everyone else is working around them - occasionally when the Beverage Manager or anyone higher up comes to check on the event you'll see them pop in and finally ask what is needed, etc. 

Because you are Union you'll be made to have a 30-minute break and two 15-minute breaks which can and WILL get rather annoying after the first couple of shifts because not only are they docking it from your pay they also pick the worst times to send you on them. (I.E. In the middle of serving customers, A rush.) 

I was always hearing all the good about this co.and was excited to work there and find it best with all its serving and management well organized, respectful, fairly ,full protocols of working serving with our lovely uniform. Besides they are very understanding, fair honest and respectifull encouraging  and helping  us and cooperating us with thier respectful supervisers and appreciate  me for good work I did.

The Edmonton Convention Centre is responsible for a number of events that showcase within the heart of the city. The amount of staff involved in creating a great work environment is a lot. People come and go every year.

They will hire you with no experience, its an alright place to work, might not get a lot of shifts as you will start as an augmentee when events require it . 

Managements good, workplace is facepaced but lax and friendly employees are good mostly some slack but that's just how the world spins round i guess. Hardest part of the job is the hot as #### plates haha

Honestly it was super flexible as a student since I got to pick up my shifts. However after covid the management got worse, servers got lazy and some supervisors weren't that helpful. 

Flexible hours. Management is approachable and friendly. Have to be comfortable carrying plates and walking across the halls with the plates, but great work out. It’s a good place to work. 

Fast working environment, long hours and huge team to work week..
Get ready to drop some pounds friend..its a long way to walk to get where you need be... Super friendly team... 

The place is great you get to see great shows and the people are great I love working with every one there the management is great and really  care about well being
