Working at Edmonton North PCN was a nightmare, for me. The interview process was seamless however, the "training" for BHC position was outlandish for the role. The training was done in a group setting where new employees were asked to 'role play' in front of a group which provoked anxiety for many new employees being onboarded. 

During live sessions with patients, the team leads would come into session, sit behind me and score my session with an actual person I front of me. It was uncomfortable for me and the patients as very seldom the patients had any clue as to who these two 'team leads' were and why they were sitting in our appointment.  It was an awful, unprofessional and anxiety provoking experience, for me.
Once probation was over (3 months) no one was available for support. No check ins and very little support was offered. Although t he other BHCs were helpful, there was a lot of gossip and unkindness demonstrated on the MH Team. 
The Manager of the Mental Health Team was very little to no support to staff. Many managers hold RN credentials and I found they were quite insensitive toward staff and patients and weren't able or unwilling to broaden their scope of perspective outside of a clinical, medical lens when supporting patients. 

The organization is for the dollars, not the people and I learned that 6 months in. 
This is a great job as a stepping stone, looks good on a resume however, from first hand experience, this isn't a job that will offer career longevity as there is slim ability to grow and advance and they cap your salary upon hire so no raises either. 
The organization's staff team is unionized now so this may have changed for the better.

This PCN started out as an okay place to work. There were a few perks such as condensed work week, good benefits, vacation. However since the new executive director started and the management team changed I feel that things have gone steeply downhill. We no longer have a condensed work week. We have very little sick time, which they recently reviewed and deemed adequate. In my opinion management is not invested in employee wellbeing, job satisfaction, or work life balance. Nor do I feel that employee’s hard work and dedication to their patients is valued or appreciated. I feel that they make unilateral decisions without any meaningful input from staff on how it will impact them. It’s difficult to come to work and do a good job when you feel undervalued and that you are just a cog in the machine. Management is very driven by patient care, which is of course important, but seem to not understand that the people driving good patient care need to be cared for too to do their jobs well. 

To be well balanced there are still some positive aspects of working at this PCN. The benefits package is quite good, education allotments are generous, and the clinician teams are excellent in my experience. 

If you are looking for a role that provides decent pay, good benefits, good work life balance, and you are able to ignore the problems with team leads and management this is certainly a bearable place to work. 

On the other side, there is very little room for mobility in this company, the company does not support or champion employee led changes yet does not take responsibility for any problems within the company,  and team leads are not encouraged to build leadership skills and as a result can create issues with distrust and apathy within employees when they feel their concerns and goals are not heard or supported. 

Additionally the company has had multiple occasions where they have lost fantastic clinicians due to their inflexibility around FTE. Clinicians take on a lot and are pushed to their maximum. There should be more opportunities to have FTE reductions and flexible hours to support employee mental health.

This PCN used to be a collaborative, people centered organization. Staff could speak their minds and Management valued them. Many people worked here because it was truly an enriching place to work. 

Through several changes in Management, the company has turned completely toxic. Terrible decisions have been made from the top down and the company is not collaborative at all. It is run by a tiny group of people who do not value staff, and in turn the patients who are being served are suffering. 
Long standing employees are leaving, people are crying in team meetings. There is no job, or psychological safety at the Edmonton North PCN. 
It's unbelievable how a once shining star of an organization to work for could turn into whatever this is now. 

Typical day at work as a Receptionist was to answer routine phone calls, check your morning (mail and email) book appointments for clients taking program classes 8 weeks at a time. Also directed clients to their program classes. Had three specialist  on site, 2 Gynecologist,orthpedic had to work with their schedule too. Learned how to multitask in a very fast past environment. very understanding management , loved  working with my co workers. The hard part of the job was there was only two Receptionist when it got to busy we always needed a third Receptionist. the most enjoyable part of the job was seeing different people every day with different cultural backgrounds .

This company is a hot mess nowadays. Mass layoffs, top-down management that doesn't listen to its staff, and an incredibly toxic culture where staff don't feel safe to speak out loud for risk that they'll end up as the next person abruptly fired. The front-line staff are some of the best I've ever met, but management sabotages their potential and creates a revolving door of turnover. I was so excited to work here when I started, and the years I spent here absolutely broke me down and took a toll on my well-being. I wouldn't recommend that anyone start here, given the sorry state it's in.

This place started as a company that valued its employees and through growth, completely forgot how to do that. The decisions are top down, the patients are supposed to come first but they forget in order to have good patient care you have to have happy employees, they don’t know how to manage the budget so now people are being let go due to finances, the ED position is a revolving door, certain people get better treatment such as being able to work from vacation destinations, HR is not an approachable department, and people are not secure in their jobs. It is really sad to see.

I worked for Edmonton North Primary Care  network for 8 years working with clients with a variety of mental health,physical  and substance abuse challenges.My morning started with checking my emails and then preparing to see individual clients for mental health assessments and/or one-to-one psychotherapy.My day also included facilitating psychoeducational and/or Cognitive Behavioral groups.

I gained a tone of experience and professional growth. I was able to take on opportunities that lead to knowledge in several different roles. I obtained awards that lead to salary increase and overall respect from my co-workers and team leads. I felt like a family member and an important asset to the company.

LPNs are decentralized in physician clinics so you’re not working with your PCN coworkers often. Managing “two” work places was tough sometimes because you would have PCN meetings that would conflict with clinical needs at times. Supportive management and good team culture. Some clinics are better to work for than others.
