Egar Tool and Die

The only reason to ever work at Egar is if you happen to live within minutes of this shop. The only feasible benefit is unlimited overtime, but that is where it ends.

The management is non-existent at this shop: rarely ever speaks to anyone, rarely says good morning, or shows any ounce of professionalism. You will never be acknowledged in any way at this shop - regardless if you are a top employee or not. 

Raises have absolutely no structure and are purely based on whether you are "friends" with the management. 

The overall place is quite dirty, dark, dingy, lacks structure, organization and stands behind many antiquated belief systems and structures which is why they have trouble finding people. 

Leadhands and supervisors, especially in the Tool-Room are rarely ever involved and simply stay in their office, meanwhile, complain about all the "work" that needs to get done. 

Tool-Room floor supervisor lacks experience and fails to show any ounce of responsibility. Many of the 'calls' are incorrect and make jobs worse.

The health "benefits" at Egar on their view are "competitive", but in reality and on planet Earth, are some of the worst benefits you may ever come across. RRSPs are non-existent and the spending allowances in every category are some of the lowest, if not the lowest, in the Automotive industry. No safety allowances, no tool allowances and the lowest offerings possible.

I've been in the work force for 20 plus years and this by far is the most dangerous work environment I've ever been in. Orientation was less than 2 hours and it showed in the staff. Majority of the workers are under 30 years old and have never had forklift awareness training. a lot of them would walk behind the forklifts while carrying a load or cut them off. The other drivers never used their horn and many times carried loads way past the mast height. I've been driving forklift for 10 years and was replaced by a 20 year old kid who didn't even have a driver's license. they value production and safety is last on the list  I'm glad I left when I did   I didn't want to eventually be a part of a workplace accident..I highly recommend staying away from this place

I used to respect this company, put in my hours moved up positions. at some point the culture changed enough that I no longer recognize where I'm working. management claims to want employee stability but barely give out raises and when they do they tied them to attendance without telling anyone leading to people who had health issues and missed an extended amount of time over the course of a year(3 days passed their 6 protected days) to not getting any raises, even if they worked 500 hrs + of overtime. As well every time they increase a positions minimum or cap they don't properly adjust for the employees currently at that level.
Only thing this place has going is overtime. 


To begin, poor training. You get told to read a whole bunch and then supervisor shows you how to do it once and walks away, good luck finding him again. 

Next, they value production over health and safety. Had reported to Operations Manager that multiple fire exits and extinguishers were blocked but had state he had other things to worry about. 

They cannot seem to keep people working there because there is next to no incentives. The benefits are awful. The only thing really going for them is weekly pay, even though you are also underpaid and not paid for what you are worth. 

This company needs to be seriously re-evaluated under all metrics and areas.

Three weeks on the job (forklift operator) and could feel the supervisor purposely giving me jobs that have multiple ways to fall behind like the tablet on the forklift was set to keep shutting off so I would have to keep signing in so I could see the part numbers that were needed an when I went to get a different tablet she was right behind me to give me trouble for trying to help myself be able to do my job and then she told me that she was only being easy on me cause I was new too the job yet so it was only going to get worse from there on out so I would like to thank you for firing me for only standing up for myself 

This is a company that needs a lot of work, the operation manager has no idea how to run the company. They give you ridiculous quotas to meet and that is the only way you will get a raise. If you cannot meet their quota they will let you go. The afternoon shift is horrible lots of drama, also on the afternoon shift there is no work life balance you start at 4:30 pm and end at 3 am Monday to Thursday, mandatory overtime on Fridays. They don't care about their employees at all or the safety of them. We have had safety concerns and brought it up to the operation manager, his response was he has more important things to worry about.  I don't recommend working here at all.

As you start at this job you love it, as time goes on and like 4 months later maybe sooner you see the truest colors of management, there judgemental, rude, classless, and they dont care about you just your numbers. They will constantly and consistently compare you to your coworkers. There positivity, sensitivity and Tact are suverely lacking.

I start at Egar $ 17.50 they told me that if I make rate I will get a raise. I tried to make or beat rate everyday but I see other people wandering or just not caring about rate. After 2 months they came to me with raise and then again after 6 months. I never ask but they just see I work and then give me raise. They always ask for overtime which I like but some others hate. I still get 2 days off because they work 4, 10 hr days and 8 hrs on Friday.  
Its easy job
Management only bug you if you not work.
Good pay with for easy work.

4 days at 10 hours. Every weekend is a long weekend!!! 
All the OT you want.
Repetitive, easy work. 
Supervisor only bugs you if you don't make rate. No problems making way more then rate so I got a raise after 3 months. 
The manager actually helped clear faults on my cell and fixed a tooling issue. Never seen that before. 
Friendly coworkers 
They are big on attendance. Seen a lot of people who only show up for 2 or 3 days a week. Those people don’t last long. You won’t get out of Mom’s basement if you can’t show up to work.
 I only left because I went back to school. 





Worst place to work, no one wants to stay lots of people walking out or just never coming back , biggest turn over place , they say you don’t have to do overtime but they have had mandatory overtime for the past 2 years and you have no choice afternoons work 4:30-3:30am 4 days a week but HAVE to work overtime on fridays 5:00-2:00am no worklife balance , no place to move up to be a welder,est.
