care staff are great, work together and most are friendly. There are a few people that offer to help new hires then once you ask for help those few criticize you for asking for help. But over all most staff are good to work with, residents are wonderful. Assisted living have a lot of people that should really be in complex care. Management is awful, not understanding, not organized. I was booked to work on days that I specifically asked and got the confirmation to have the day off, for me to only find out i was still scheduled and with the shift that i had that day i had no choice but to work because i do care about my residents. And dont bother even calling in sick, you wont be taken seriously when you are actually sick, in this aspect I believe there is favouritism as some employees call in sick an hour before their 7 am shift and somehow allowed the day off but when you call in sick the night before when you do start to feel ill you will be interrogated. Last but not least, pay discrepancy. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PAY FROM ELIM there is usually a pay discrepancy that you need to go after especially if there is a stat or if you work overtime. and to add, if you work past your scheduled shift you must send a NOTIFICATION on an online platform and your extra time that you work will be sent in for APPROVAL, thats right approval. It doesnt matter if you took extra time to help a resident and had to chart about it you have to send in a notification and email the nurse and DOC about it, even when there is a sign in and out machine that locks in the time you sign in and out. But dont worry, if you sign out early you dont need a notification, you just wont get paid for the time that you didnt work, because that actually makes sense.

Working at elim is ok. The residents are kind and sweet and there families are really nice to. The staff is ok, I’m still new and it hasn’t been that long since I started  working here and to be honest it hasn’t been a good experience. As a new hire if you ask for help it really depends on who’s working because certain people are willing to help you while others criticize everything you do. Most care staff is not approachable to ask for help or questions, a lot of them just seem like they hate there job. Care staff often speaks Filipino and is not inclusive at times. Training isn’t provided properly. And management tried to make me work on a day that I told them I wasn’t available to work.

You will learn a lot.  Mix cultural staff members you can get a chance to connect with others.  Friendly and professional environment.

There is nothing much to say,  it is same as other companies or professions have some challenges.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day Is different and comes with new challenges, happiness and sometimes with sadness.  So I enjoy all days. I m used to busy life if I will not work for 30 minutes, I get bored.

Overworked, management din’t care about their
Staff, management don’t listen about staff concerns. No appreciation at all from management to all the hard-work staff done.. Fighting for tour sick leave abd vacations. Management won’t approved your vacation days you wanted it and they will questioning you why you call in sick!  And you have to fight or argue with them for you to use your  sick leave and get pay for those days you are not in. Asking you pay your benefits share and employer share when you are on leave or on medical leave. It is sucks


Direction from Management is unclear and constantly changing.  We do not know what to expect from day to day.

The culture among the team members has been a positive experience for me.

I enjoy the residents and feel they are provided with exceptional support by the staff team.

 Elim often looks externally when new non-union positions come available and does not often promote from within.

Teamwork,  cooperation amongst staff and a peaceful environment.

The non-cooperative residents but with the help of the unique team it becomes less stressful

I’ve worked at Elim for many years. It’s history and beginnings are special and unique. Being successful feels like it’s gotten to their heads, and the culture is definitely changing. Hopefully they realize this and make some changes before it’s too late. 

This has been my favourite place of employment thus far as an HCA. Phenomenal staff, management and very flexible/accommodating hours. The facility is new and very well managed, there was not a day that went by that actually felt like “work” if you are looking for a team to call “family” joining the Elim team will be the best choice you’ve ever made. 

The Human Resources Department at Elim Village has been a great support. Everyone in the team is knowledgeable, competent, efficient friendly and open to new ideas. I love being part of a company who values your ideas and is always looking after the wellbeing of their employees. At Elim, I noticed the workplace environment is in alignment with their values. It is always a pleasure to come to work!
