During my team at EllisDon, it was honestly the best 4 years. Coming in as a co-op than coming back as contract in which transitioned to full time. 

I've learned so much during my time there starting from learning the basics such as Active Directory, using the ticketing system. From there i've learning more on my path as to dealing with hardware issues (Windows machines & Macs), making documentation for the user experience, work with multiple vendors on getting hardware items for the company, being cost efficient during the whole process, working on asset management, change management and much more i can go on about.

A typical day for me during my time was me coming into the office, settling in and getting ready to help the users with our full 100% support. When working with a construction company, they usually get a lot of new projects in which builds up to being busy. Within Ellisdon, that was a good thing because that means vendors rely on us on what needs to get completed. 

The hardest part of the job was trying to keep up with the day to day tasks as to a point it would get so busy we would feel that we would have to multi-task on alot of projects to help support the business. Whenever EllisDon hires more people, that means more of a workload for user to make sure we provide the best user experience.

The most enjoyable part of my job was working with my fellow teammates/colleagues as we all try to help each other out as much as possible. Also, we always learn from one another so that we can use that knowledge for future projects etc. Along with that, i enjoyed working with the users i got to support in the company as each of them has a interesting character that i built a bond over during my time there in which they can always rely on me if they needed help.

Workaholism: Celebrated. Sticking up for your own work/life balance even though it is in the orientation was frowned upon and openly discouraged.
Salary: Averaged out over all the weekend, evening and 4:30 pm Friday RUSH emails: it is average or below. 
Job Security: None. Constantly micromanaged by 'blue bloods,' "shareholders!" long-time, tenured employees, familial nepotism, bully-ish, chauvinisitic leadership, lack of leadership completely, lack of training, back stabbing.
Management: None. Everyone was feast or famine and it was palpable. "Edge Aheads" or employee performance reviews were exercises in creative writing that no one cared about but they got sent back and forth, back and forth, back and forth to exercise some kind of hamster wheel of evidence but no accountability. Not a single leader of mine EVER followed up with my goals. NONE. EVER. And yet- we got threatening emails from HR (People and Culture). 
Job Culture: The type of place where you should save every email just in case you're called to the pulpit for "restructuring" or an intervention regarding your 'EllisDon Values.'

Planned of control quality / Control Assurance (QC/QA), ESC inspection (Erosion and sediment control) for the SPSHQ (Saskatoon police head quarter) project with 350000 ft^2 and Willow Grove school with 50000 ft^2 according to construction Codes of Canada. Reviewed architectural, mechanical, electrical site visit report and owner site review reports.
•	Coordinated to clarify the construction complications or have solution to existing problem for sub- contractors.  
•	Contributed significantly to the successful coordination and management of the buildings projects.
•	Inspected Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) at SPSHQ, Saskatoon Public School and Catholic school.
•	Communicated effectively with clients and internal team members in the specification development of construction building systems. 
•	Analyzing project data of Saskatoon police headquarter construction project (SPSHQ) and lab data according to ASTM and standard test method for lab CBR (California Bearing Ratio).
•	Prepared and updated the project schedule under the direction of the project manager, cost reports,
•	 Provided assistance to ensure project health, safety and environmental standards meet legislated requirements and company policy.

A typical day at work would be cleaning the office doing things such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, window cleaning. I learned that you have to work together with co-workers to get things done at the most efficient way for everyone such as splitting up and one person doing this, while another person does something help to help speed up the process of work. My co-workers are my family and my mom's co-workers from her full time job, they are all extremely nice and willing to move out of the way to help you clean the workspace they are in if they are not too busy. The hardest part of the job is that we start cleaning and not everyone is out of the office yet, so sometimes people get in the way of your routine and you have to change it up a bit until they are not in the spot. You have to change your routine to the situation. The most enjoyable part of the job would be communication with others talking about their job and what they've been doing and how they do it.

I was very excited to be hired at EllisDon as they have some really interesting projects happening in Vancouver. Was quickly given a reality check about the company.  They really like diversity which I was excited about as an indigenous persons but noticed it's just a business ploy. It looks good. My role was not taken seriously and I had lowered expectations from management because of my status. It creates a really awkward unsettling work place. The company encourages  an entrepreneur spirit but refuses to do things in ways that are way more efficient because their "entrepreneurial spirit" only applies to management. I relocated for a project to lessen the commute and ended up being moved projects with no say or notice giving me a sudden hour commute to work. The hours are long and not reflected in salary. I regret taking a role with Ellisdon. 

Extremely Disorganized and Unprofessional Workplace

This company is plagued by ignorance, favoritism, and a complete lack of professionalism. Both clients and subcontractors consistently disappointed, and new employees often face hostility from workers due to poor planning and lack of vision from management.

Communication is virtually nonexistent. The leadership often resorts to panic hiring in an attempt to salvage chaotic projects, but without clear direction or consistency and preparation, nothing improves. Management appears confused and reactive rather than proactive.

Resources are wasted, and employees are treated unfairly across the board. The company seems to prioritize appearances over substance, making it a suitable place only for those content with playing the part rather than delivering real results.

At this rate, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them out of business within a few years.

The ability to be seen and heard for the ideas which you want to bring forward to help the company achieve its goals.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Maintaining a strong delivery after the initial implementation of any idea continues to be stressful in todays market and inflated prices.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Open, collaborative, with a shared sense of pride to see divisions of the company succeed even those which you are not as involved in.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hours are fluid depending on client / site demand, while also depending on your current life demands which have always been factored into my roles here.

Administrative Manager is all about creating high school drama, gossiping, and setting up the team & employees for failure. They are  completely unprofessional and lack leadership and management skill. There is no proper feedback for employees working under them , no communication, no professional development plans, and  above all NO RESPECT. They thrive on insulting others and creating rumors to stay on top of things. And of course the top management listens to them as they have been there long enough to control staff with fear and by keeping them in the dark.

During my time at various companies, EllisDon stood out as the least favorable workplace. The office was filled with gossip, making it hard to trust colleagues. The workload was overwhelming, you have to work overtime -unpaid- and you have no other option - if not they will threaten that you will not be able to join the employee share program (other than the team pressure on you for not helping with the overtime work). Despite putting in substantial effort, there was no recognition, and the job is underpaid. Employees often exhibited stress, venting negativity onto their peers. I regret not leaving earlier and not standing up for myself in a lot of situations. The overall experience at EllisDon has left a lasting impact, and recovery is an ongoing process

Terrible turnover rate at Vancouver projects. Zero job security they will randomly fire long term employees with zero explanation. They are really about diversity and have lots of unpaid co opp students with no experience and promotion is heavily baised on politcs not preformance. The manager at my project was incredibly disrespectful, played favorites, and talks at you not to you. They expect you to work hours far outside of your salary as well as from home after hours while paying below the industry average.  While management will leave job site early without any explanation or go for extended lunches at the pub. 
Worst Carrer move I ever made was coming to this company.
